Southern Baptist Church Will Not Terminate Pro-Gay Pastor
A Southern Baptist church in California decided not to terminate its pastor, despite his pro-gay views. Pastor Danny Cortez of New Heart Community Church announced in February that he is in favor of affirming gay Christians after his son came out as homosexual.
Cortez wrote that when his son confided that he was gay ‚Äúmy heart skipped a beat and I turned towards him and we gave one another the biggest and longest hug as we cried. And all I could tell him was that I loved him so much and that I accepted him just as he was.‚ÄĚ
Several months afterward, Cortez gave a sermon saying ‚Äúthe body of Christ is segregated every Sunday between gay-affirming and non-gay affirming‚ÄĚ and he believes in supporting homosexuals....
Al Mohler does a fine job here describing why a choice will have to be made

However, with possible promotion of Ronnie Floyd for SBC, what direction are they taking their denomination? is this true that he follows Robert morris teaching on tithing? does morris teach that non tithers are arrogant thieves subject to demon possession?
a step back and I wonder why they are wanting to emulate tv preachers, send in money for blessings, is their denomination in need of their 10% from churches that they would take on the teachings of the prosperity gospel? this will lead, in my opinion to more secular humanism and the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.

is the SBC going word of faith ecumenical? I sure would like some clarity on this. anyone?
As church after church falls into apostasy, this is yet another reason why we must pray for our Pastors
Dr. Albert Mohler president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, warned in a Monday blog post that New Heart Community Church has dangerously abandoned the Biblical stance on homosexuality.
‚ÄúThere is nothing but heartbreak in this situation,‚ÄĚ Mohler wrote. ‚ÄúHere we face a church that has rejected the clear teachings of Scripture, the affirmations of its confession of faith, and two millennia of Christian moral wisdom and teaching.‚ÄĚ
S.Taylor wrote: Today It's issues like this which prove who really is on the Lord's side.
S.Taylor We are in the midst of a spiritual battle that makes one want to weep.
Scripture tells us 'bad companions corrupt good moral' and 'a little leaven, leavens (in this case I believe it is safe to say poisons) the whole loaf
And we have pastors and people of high religous prominence telling us the lie, its really not that bad, don't cause trouble speaking out against it.
Essentially even though we have our own Bibles where we can hear for ousrelves what God says, we have religous experts who have gone to Seminary and Bible School, who make it clear 'you haven't' so you have to shut up and keep silence while we tell you what to do and how to live your Christian life
When they ought to be leading us to heartbroken weeping and confession of sin and a brokenhearted wailing, crying out to God for His mercy that He would grant repentance in the churchs lest the supernatural experience they have of Him is the Fury of His Wrath against determined unrepentant wilfull disobedience, a love for what is abomination to Him
editting Oh Boy I just downloading a copy of The Fury of God to my nook (it was hugely inexpensive) Hope you check it out
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;... - 2 Thes. 2:3
What day?...the coming of our Lord Jesus, and our gathering together unto him (v. 1).
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. - 1 John 2:19
Echoes to the comments of Christopher, also a parent, and Michael Hranek. I cannot imagine what this situation is like. Affirming your child in his sin is not loving him. But I'd imagine it's easier said than done. Then again, no one said parenting or following Christ was easy.
Also a parent wrote: Heart goes out dad, no excuse for his choice though. Heart "does" not go out for church that needs to do the right thing
Also a parent Thank you for your comment, I am also a parent who knows what it is to have children who need correction/salvation
IMHO for what it is worth. A church congregation form the pulpit to the pews, from the Pastor on down that is seeking and doing and being what we should be as Christians would be a wonderful start to seeing those who are lost and wayward turned around and won to the obedience of faith
Whereas "playing church", "big business religion", compromise with the world, let alone appeasement will be huge stumbling blocks for our children in seeing any value in the obedience of the faith or the reality of the holiness of God and the certainness of His Fury against unrepentant and unbelieving sinners, and their personal need to get right with Him and be saved from their sins
In this news story it might be better to look at it as: An Ordained Religiou Hireling, willing to mislead his own church into destruction And A Congregation Wanting its own ease and comfort in and with the world (their ears tickled with lies and deception to make them feel good)
The SBC has two risk factors. The first is their pastors have children and the second is their children are turning gay. James White forecasts dozens of SBC pastors are in the queue, soon poised to capitulate and go gay friendly. The other mainlines turned this corner several years ago. The SBC is the caboose.
Mat 10:37  He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
The father has true love confused. Condoning, supporting, and adding to his sons confusion, to me, is more like hatred. I know that sounds strong but the father is basically saying, "Do whatever feels good. You'll end up in hell, but I support your decision. Just be you, son". Reminds me of when Mr OBamas daughter asked him, "daddy, why isn't it okay for "sodomites" to love each other and marry?" According to him, her question and concern made him do a 180 on his views, saying that the prejudice was an injustice. (basically).
it appears that this church haven't heard that ]]The Bible Says Homosexuality is Sin. it was sound like the Southern Baptist Convention has to show this church the door.
