Canonized popes declared 'giants of the 20th century'
In a Canonization Mass attended by Pope Benedict XVI, Pope Francis celebrated as saints Popes John XXIII and John Paul II, calling them two giants of the Catholic Church in the 20th century.
In his homily, Pope Francis remembered Pope John Paul II as the ‚Äúpope of the family,‚ÄĚ and John XXIII as the ‚Äúthe ‚Äúgood pope who was the pope of the Holy Spirit.‚ÄĚ
Declaring his intention to convene two church conferences or synods to be dedicated to the family ‚Äď one this October and the other next year ‚Äď Pope Francis concluded his homily by calling on the two newly declared saints to intercede with God to restore worldwide the sanctity of the family.
Tying together the themes of Easter Sunday that last week began one of the most holy weeks in the history of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis said Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II were sustained through the great tragedies of the 20th century because...
There were giants in the earth in those days;... And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6: 4-5 ****** How fitting that the word giants was used to describe these two heretics.

Like the prophets of old, these holy men bore a twofold testimony, a testimony for the truth of God, and a testimony against the Apostasy of those professing to be Christian. Their testimony was that Papal Rome is the Babylon of prophecy, ‚Äú‚Ķthat great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth,‚ÄĚ34 and that its head, the Roman pontiff, is the predicted ‚ÄúMan of Sin,‚ÄĚ or Antichrist.‚ÄĚ 33 See The Westminster Confession of Faith, 1646; The Baptist Confession 34 Revelation 17:18 ************ Article: Reaching the Catholic with the Gospel by Richard Bennett . . Dorcas . . Opus Dei is a cult within a cult! It is an exclusive "men only club", whose members are programmed like mindless robots. Like the Jesuits, their fidelity is to the pope. The spirit that animates their members which constrains them to suppress their conscience, and just follow orders . . no questions asked is altogether diabolical. The Founder of Opus Dei, Msgr. Escriva de Balaguer, commands blind obedience to superiors in Maxim 941, The Way: "Obedience, the sure way. Blind obedience to your superior, the way of sanctity. Obedience in your apostolate the only way, for in a work of God, the spirit must be to obey or to leave."
What a contrast from the spirit of true disciples of Christ, as so clearly affirmed by Peter: "We ought to obey God rather than men‚ÄĚ (Acts 5:29)

JSC, I am a former RC, but by God's grace, I am now a Christian in truth. Some 20+ years ago, a woman I knew only casually gave me a Bible, a book which would transform my life, for therein are found the Words of eternal life . . the "incorruptible word" whereby I was born again. (1 Peter 1:23) That same word brought me under conviction of my sin, which led to repentance unto life in Christ. I can personally testify that the Gospel is the "power of God unto salvation". (Rom. 1:16) This of course is nothing short of a miracle, for which I do always praise God. We are exhorted in God's Word to "prove all things". This we do when we examine all things in the light of Scripture. Over time, that is what I did with respect to RC doctrines, traditions, etc. The Holy Spirit, whose peculiar work is to lead us into Truth, showed me that Roman Catholicism contradicts Scripture, whereupon I was compelled to leave. If you would be taught of God and know these things for yourself, you must read God's Word! It is in truth the "Good Book". I would also direct you to bereanbeacon.org. Sadly, the church in our day has been seduced by the false ecumenism of Rome, and this Richard Bennett, biblical apologist & former RC priest enlarges upon in many of his articles there.
I appreciate the Spurgeon post. What did these old saints see that we miss? Is it that the romish church has stopped it's violence toward protestants? Did the ecumenical counsels work? Are protestants just asleep today because we have had freedom from persecution? Where is the alarm against this gigantic beast of antichrist? I am not sure as I am convicted by my own weakness.
"It is the bounden duty of every Christian to pray against Antichrist, and as to what Antichrist is, no sane man ought to raise an objection. If it be not popery in the Church of Rome, there is nothing in the world that can be called by that name. If there were to be issued a hue and cry for Antichrist, we would certainly take up the Roman Church on suspicion, and it would certainly not be let loose again, for it so exactly answers the description. Popery is contrary to Christ‚Äôs Gospel. It is the Antichrist. We ought to pray against it. It should be the daily prayer of every believer that Antichrist might be hurled like a millstone into the flood, and for Christ, because it wounds Christ, it robs Christ of His glory, it puts sacramental efficacy in the place of His atonement, it lifts a piece of bread into the place of the Saviour, and a few drops of water into the place of the Holy Ghost, and puts a mere fallible man like ourselves up as the Vicar of Christ on earth. If we pray against it, because it is against God, we shall love the persons though we hate their errors; we shall love their souls though we hate and detest their dogmas; and so the breath of our prayers will be sweetened because we turn our faces to Christ to pray this prayer.‚ÄĚ - C. H. Spurgeon 1834‚Äď1892,
The Roman Catholics have two more "saints" to pray to. It must be very confusing for them all who to choose to pray to. But they can set aside God and Christ and pick the relevant saint who deals with their particular problem. Very democratic?
I suppose they think that God is too overworked to deal with everybody.
Satan must be laughing all the way to the spiritual bank on this with the amount of misguided and blind souls he wins to this fallacy.
Acts 9:32 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda. = That's strange Peter (the first pope) new the 'saints' whilst they were still on earth!! Weird eh?
I have to say the previous poster covered these two Emissaries of Satan in one word quite well, and that word might be applied to the whole institution of ]]The Papacy as well.
