Fla. 5-Year-Old Told ‘It’s Not Good’ To Pray By School Employee
A 5-year-old bows her head at lunch to say Grace before she eats may be considered cute and heartwarming by some.

That was not the case for a student in Florida.

The young girl was told by a school lunchroom supervisor that her actions were wrong.

The girl’s father, Marcos Perez, is outraged to the point where he is considering homeschooling his child. Today, the Liberty Institute sent a letter to the school administrators demanding they stop allowing religious discrimination, which is in violation of not only state, but federal law. The school denies the incident. ...

AMEN, Jessica!

I believe there will be a special place in hell for these God-haters in the public school system who have offended Christ's little ones.

"Then were there brought unto him little children, that [Jesus] should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence."

Jim, If a Muslem says a quiet prayer to herself during lunch, I would be fine with that. What you may not see in the same way that others might, is that statism, nannyism, brings its own religion with it. and forcing a young one not to pray to God is its own form of religion. and a stumbling block for one of these. I would argue that it is a religion in and of itself, collectivist atheism.

In this situation a silent prayer by the girl would suffice, and something her parents should have told her. If you read the above commentary by Gil Rugh, he pointed out that one place where one is forced to ignore any government restriction is testifying about Jesus.
Jim, did you listen to the whole interview at the bottom of the article? They said that federal policy from the DOE allows students (yes even Muslim ones)to say grace at lunch (which would be different than getting out the prayer rug 5x to pray toward Mecca). So, tell me, how is she violating your version of rendering unto Caesar, when what she tried to do was not a violation of federal law? The school monitor was wrong, not the little girl. The interview also stated the girl was trying to silently pray. As long there are tests, students will pray at school. Also, hats off to anybody who thanks the Lord for the lunches Michelle Obama is forcing them to eat.

For some perspective, see what one founder of this republic thought of public prayer:

"..have thought fit, according to the ancient and laudable Practice of our renowned ancestors, to appoint a day of PUBLIC THANKSGIVING to God, for the great benefits which HE has been pleased to bestow upon us, in the Year past. And I do by advice and consent of the Council, appoint THURSDAY the Nineteenth day of November next, to be observed as a DAY of PUBLIC THANKSGIVING and PRAISE throughout this Commonwealth: Calling upon the Ministers of the Gospel of all Denominations, with their respective Congregations to assemble on that Day to offer to God, their unfeigned Gratitude, for his great Goodness to the People of the United States in general, and of this Commonwealth in particular."
Samuel Adams, Proclamation for a Day of Thanksgiving, October 14, 1795

I guess he never heard of separation of church and state, as interpreted by the left.

there you go, give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and if it be your very soul, then thank Caesar for providing your sustenance.

You know Jim, not all public acts of prayer are done for the praise of men. People bowing their heads and thanking God for the food before a meal in a restaurant follows the Biblical principle our Lord set down by returning thanks publicly for food. If you don't want to do that fine, but there are examples TOO numerous in Scripture of public prayer. Peter was not in home or religious meeting, he was sailing across a body of water, if he waited until he got into a private place to pray he would have drowned. Read the book of Esther and notice all the public (not at family time or in religious meeting) prayer that was offered. Btw, no there are NO admonitions to NOT pray publicly in Gil's pamphlet.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may SEE your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
I Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should SHOW forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
If pope Gil has not pronounced on it, Jim will be all at sea.

Do I mind that she was reprimanded, if it was with gentleness and with explanation, no. Public schools are secular institutions. Send her to a Christian school or homeschool her, which the parents are thinking of, if an out-loud grace is something she has to have before she eats. UPS, you are again forgetting what Jesus said!
JFB Commentary wrote:
Matthew 6:2:

2. Therefore, when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee—The expression is to be taken figuratively for blazoning it. Hence our expression to "trumpet." as the hypocrites do—This word—of such frequent occurrence in Scripture, signifying primarily "one who acts a part"—denotes one who either pretends to be what he is not (as here), or dissembles what he really is (as in Lu 12:1,2). in the synagogues and in the streets—the places of religious and secular resort. that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you—In such august expressions, it is the Lawgiver and Judge Himself that we hear speaking to us.

They have their reward—All they wanted was human applause, and they have it—and with it, all they will ever get.

Now if Gil said something different in ]]Prayer, I haven't read it in awhile, tell me.

So we see in Scripture, people praying in the field, in the battlefield, in palaces, on the sea, at gravesides, in gardens, on crosses, in prisons, etc. the Bible principle is the giving of thanks, yes EVEN in public places. We are to let our light shine but a kid bowing her head in school is somehow inappropriate? Come on Jim

Just Wondering, you mean you don't think it wasn't a religious meeting when Jesus, the Son of God, was teaching and preaching?

Yes, you can pray continually--just not from the street corners like a steet hawker(sp?)

So, when Jesus made the crowds of 5,000 and 4,000 to sit down for food, He should not have offered a prayer of thanksgiving, like this child was trying to do, because it was not a religious or home setting?

Especially in Florida there are many religions, so a ]]Muhammadan can spread his prayer rug out so he can pray towards Mecca? In so far as prayer is concerned, the school is not a religious or home setting so perhaps,

If I was that girl I would have told that lunchroom supervisor to mind their own business. The girl's father should remove his daughter from the satanic public school and homeschool her.
