American Bible Society to sell 12-story NYC building

The American Bible Society will sell its 12-story building on Broadway, vacating prime real estate in the heart of Manhattan that serves other evangelical ministries.

The society provides space to several New York-based evangelical organizations, such as Q Ideas, Redeemer Presbyterian Church’s Center for Faith & Work, the Museum of Biblical Art and Young Life. Through the years, the building had become a destination for Christians in the city.

The 200-year-old ABS first occupied the 1865 Broadway address in 1966 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Billy Graham. The organization has not made any decisions about a new location, but a spokesperson said it remained committed to New York City. ...

Interesting, Watch and Pray. Serves as a start reminder that we never know how God will use any seemingly trivial effort at some point in a person's life to draw them to Him. I view life as one enormous jigsaw puzzle. Trillions of pieces that are in constant motion and readjusting themselves with every action, decision, prayer, etc. Those puzzle pieces are moving around based upon our own efforts and prayers as well, and any little thing, even a smile or a helping hand at the right moment in time could be the catalyst which ends up joining two pieces together at some point down the road. I guess my point is that we should never give up and always pray about what we can do whether its helping at a soup kitchen or dropping of a gallon of milk to a neighbor. We just never know what God has planned or how we're being uses, although we may never witness the results.
christopher00, thank you for reading. TY for your comments. Yes, little things matter in ways that we may not be able to predict. God directs Providence as in Providence, RI.

The article put up by SA is informative. It didn't include the fact that the ABS is an ecumenical organization, and have even put out Bible versions acceptable to Catholics, The Roman Catholic Bible, and not with just the Apocrypha. The commentary in a Romish Bible is loathsome.

So the ABS has done some good work, and their Good News Bible is very bad, q.v., Comparing Bible Translations--Conclusions. So, there are several reasons support for the ABS has suffered through the years.

10+ years ago, our family enjoyed a visit to the American Bible Society building and Bible museum located in NYC on Broadway near Columbus Circle and Central Park. It was a great experience in a great location.

Some years earlier, while walking towards home as a high school student, I received a Good News New Testament distributed by the ABS. I was not an evangelical Christian at the time. It was an influence that helped to direct me toward a commitment to Christ that I made approximately 7 years later.
