7 Warning Signs of Affairs for Pastors and Other Church Staff
The conversation is always sad, always tragic. The pastor who left his church after a two-year affair with another church member. The student pastor who has been out of vocational ministry since he had a brief sexual encounter with his assistant.
I have spoken with countless numbers of these men and women. And each time I am reminded of how much I need to love God with all my heart, and to be totally devoted to my wife.
Though the conversations are both sad and tragic, I do learn from them. And after dozens, perhaps a few hundred, of these conversations, I see patterns. These patterns become warning signs for any of us, lest we be so na√Įve to think we have no vulnerabilities.
Because the conversations were informal, I cannot say for certain which among them were the most frequent warning signs. So I provide them in no particular order....

TeenChristian I appreciate your postings, and your name (btw I'm 61) Please do press on in your faith and witness for Christ. Remember Romans 8:28; 1 Cor 1:18-31 NOT the criticism of anybody regarding your age or moniker Because God can indeed use you in your faith and devotion to Him
Dear teen as the scripture so clearly says ......Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. (2 Timothy 2:19 KJV)
Let it never be said, despite the fact I'm only a teen, that I was afraid to tackle a subject dead on. It's no secret of the impact John Piper has had on my life and I remember a sermon he preached where he said "Christ is better than anything this world can offer! Why do I bot commit adultery with Noel (his wife)? Because Christ is better!" The wording may be off but you get the picture right? So what if we "evangelicals" would shut up about these really dumb topics and start teaching the stuff tgat matters? Like the gospel! Living out the GC! Maybe we could teach them to see & savor Jesus Christ! To see Him as supreme & LOVE IT! But no! We (Note; I'm not talking about you guys) sit here and argue wether or not tattoes are a sun! We have entire books devoted to this subject! But NOBODY wants to talk about the gospel! Why can't we have a conference devoted to exploring grace instead of these LONG discussions about building new churches! Thanks for patiently letting me rant, my point is, we've forgotten what the gospel is, that's why these young guys are doing this.
