Christian college drops 'Crusaders' nickname in bow to 'global society'
A Christian college in Wisconsin is dropping its ‚ÄúCrusaders‚ÄĚ nickname after nearly 50 years, claiming the moniker has become outdated in a ‚Äúmore global society,‚ÄĚ university officials told FoxNews.com.
Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown and its Division III athletic teams have used the name since its founding in 1968. Matt Davis, the university’s executive vice president, said no complaints have been received by the school and stressed that it coincides with its name change from Maranatha Baptist College in December.
‚ÄúBut I also agree that times change and we understand that context changes,‚ÄĚ Davis told FoxNews.com. ‚ÄúOur world has changed since 9/11 and we‚Äôve become a more global society with the Internet. Good. Glad it got changed. I bet non-whites feel a lot more welcome there nowadays.
Really doesn't seem like an appropriate name considering the crusaders were not really Christians except in name. Maybe they should have thought that out when they started the college. (now university)
Its not so much the name change that matters, but the belly crawling, appeasing and groveling attitude, and one can be sure that the name change is either a reflection of other changes that have already taken place or are about to.
Ibrahim is happy,i'm sure he is as are most Muslims when they realize the gutless cowardice of their competition for the hearts and souls of men.
