Andy and Patty Grove never planned to settle outside of Texas. Their roots in the state reach back many generations. Patty’s ancestors came to Texas on a wagon train from Tennessee in the 1830’s (an elementary school in Houston is named for her great-grandfather); Andy’s father owned a tract of land that is now part of the posh Houston neighborhood of Hedwig Village. The two grew up a mere five miles away from each other in West Houston, where they attended Stratford and Memorial, rival high schools in Spring Branch ISD. They met while volunteering with Campus Crusade for Christ as undergraduates at the University of Houston in the late seventies. After marrying, in 1982, they settled in Arlington, where Andy took a job as the campus director of the University of Texas at Arlington’s branch of International Students, a Christian organization that works with foreign-exchange students. Hi Frank, I have always used "false religion", because of all the additions and subtractions. To be honest though, I've never even looked up the difference between a false religion and a cult so either is fine with me...ha-ha.

Hey Chris. Thanks for your encouragement. I could have of course listed so many others. Clearly the RCC is a cult in every sense of the word, although I know you object to me using that term with them. But, if someone can give me a common characteristic of a cult that is not present with the RCC, then I will be surprised. Their frequent use of the word ANATHEMA for those who might disagree with them is telling indeed.
Their dogma says that if someone isn't part of the RCC or if they disagree with the pope when he is speaking from the chair of Moses and his magisterium then they can't be saved is about as cultic as you can get.

While they all might be united spiritually, I dont think those are John UK. Further, Im not surprised by their rage against the Christian writeup concerning cults.

UK John having a conversation here with one of his imaginary friends?
When members get psychologically abused and seduced it makes you wonder what went wrong. I think people really needed to appreciate real elders in their church. Not 20 something year Olds but true, wise ,stable, level headed elders. Timothy talks about the importance of that
We have some Street preachers here who started off zealously and preaching the word and trying to live good, honest lives. ..They started a church and it was going good. Growing with new believers and people repenting and being born again. I assume it was pride that allowed Satan to work in their church.

I think many on this forum would agree with you sir!

Why are we not practicing that? If he was here to really consider and to learn, that would be a whole different animal
Moderator Alpha told you this is not a closed forum and that as long as I don't break the forum policies then I have the right to post on this site. Just because I have not left the RCC after having embraced Jesus as Savior and trusting in Him alone for salvation does not mean that I am not saved.

I agree fully, JohnY is simply a troll looking for someone to agitate. Now on the other hand, SteveR is on a mission and is not a troll.

Canon number VIII: "If anyone says that Christ received in the eucharist is received spiritually only, and not also sacramentally and really, let him be anathema." Canon V: "If anyone says that it is a deception to celebrate masses in honor of the saints, and in order to obtain their intercession with God as the church intends, let him be anathema." Canon 24: "If any one saith, that the justice received is not preserved and also increased before God through good works; but that the said works are merely the fruits and signs of Justification obtained, but not a cause of the increase thereof; let him be anathema." Canon 30: "If any one saith, that, after the grace of Justification has been received, to every penitent sinner the guilt is remitted, and the debt of eternal punishment is blotted out in such wise, that there remains not any debt of temporal punishment to be discharged either in this world, or in the next in Purgatory, before the entrance to the kingdom of heaven can be opened (to him); let him be anathema." CANON 12: "If any one shall say that justifying faith is nothing else than confidence in the divine mercy pardoning sins for Christ's sake, or that it is that confidence alone by which we are justified ... let him be accursed"

Rick Branch wrote: The third variation is the most subtle and most dangerous. These groups will explain that the Bible is completely and totally accurate. They will have no other book of scripture and will explain that if anyone brings another scripture, they are false prophets. They will state that the Bible is the Word of God, 100% accurate and should be trusted in every situation. However, to really know what the Bible means, a person must follow that particular group’s unique interpretation of the Bible.
This is a characteristic of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Unity School of Christianity. While neither group possesses additional books of scripture, both will explain that the person who wants to know God’s ultimate truths must come to their organization to find them. Only in their organization can the correct interpretation of the Bible be found.

Well it must be true we even have a prophet posting on our boards
So, to ask a question, you keep telling us what is NOT a church or for that matter a church officer.
Would you be so kind as to enlighten us as to what IS a church and who would be the undersheperds, if any, in that church? Thanks for the clarification.
John Y, just some advice: offer your testimony and Scripture to prove your saved, and not the opinion of family or a pastor. I'm not challenging you or anything, just trying to point out that your position with others doesn't matter, its your position with God that matters.
As for the RCC worshipping Jesus as God, all the while killing and torturing true believers, consider this:
Acts 9:4 "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?"
Persecuting Christians, is the same as persecuting Christ. You cannot persecute Christ, and worship him at the same time, that's just plain ridiculous.
