If you pray and wear your underwear inside out, will your team win the big game?

Two weeks ahead of the Super Bowl, half of American sports fans say they believe God or a supernatural force is at play in the games they watch, according to a new survey.

That percentage includes Americans who pray for God to help their team (26 percent), think their team has been cursed (25 percent) or more generally believe God is involved in determining who wins on the court or in the field (19 percent). Overall, half of Americans fall into one of these groups, according to the survey Public Religion Research Institute released Tuesday. ...

What can one say about the god of sports in modern America.

Its the only place where we demand any degree of integrity or honesty.

Many of us know more about it than anything of any value.

It is the last sanctuary of retreat for men who have abandoned many other aspects of manhood.

We pay players through ticket purchases many times more than anyone else doing anything of any real value or benefit to society.

We use words like "great" and "awesome" to describe them when neither applies when one considers the true definition of those words.

Sports is just another tin god that will fall and fail when its time comes.

Once again the idol of statistics...when did public opinion trump Gods Word as truth? It's laughable everytime I see a post like this "half of Americans like (fill in blank). We as a nation think WAY too highly of ourselves. Pride comes before destruction...
