‘I’m Not Christian’: Pop Star Rejects Her Childhood Faith

Pop singer Katy Perry opened up about her views on God and theology in a recent interview with Marie Claire, telling the magazine that she’s no longer Christian and that she doesn’t believe in heaven, hell or “an old man sitting on a throne.”

Perry did tell the outlet, though, that she believes in a higher power — a paradigm that holds her accountable.

“Accountability is rare to find, especially with people like myself, because nobody wants to tell you something you don’t want to hear,” the singer said. “I actually don’t trust people who start to turn on me because they get scared of telling me the truth.” ...

You don't agree that the majority of Country Music recording artists are Baptist or some other Evangelical Protestant?

I managed to find John Blanchard,s book " Pop goes the Gospel"in my library and broused through it. I quote extract page 246."A youth group recently pleaded with us to include a rock band in an evangelistic mission because " if we get a band it will make it easier for people to be saved". This book was written as they witnessed the music taking the lead in worship. In many churches it is not worship without being first entertained by ill-clad youth. They are not to blame, but the leadership who have allowed it. I love music, especially ,,, singing. The church of GOD has always had music, and worship would be lacking without singing psalms hymns and spiritual songs to the Lord ,and making melody in our hearts. For those who may be concerned in witnessing rock music perhaps in your own church I recommend this book ,which I notice can be purchased for pennies.

G s Texas wants to know if there any resources on the occult in the music industry. JOHN BLANCHARD wrote an excellent book on this subject many years ago, called Pop goes the gospel. It is an excellent book and well worth reading.

"And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

"The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation

"And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

"And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,

"And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them."

Acts 16: 16-19, 22

Your soul is sold when you make a god out of anything but God,no special midnight at the crossroads deals,no ceremonies or other Hollywood hype, and these people are not "trapped" in anything but their love of sin, self and attention....if they are victims then how can God ever hold them accountable...indeed many think they will not be held accountable....being victims and all.

Penny, I too find the occultism that is prevalent in the entertainment industry interesting. I've never taken the idea one could sell their soul for fame and worldly success seriously, but do the forces of darkness really meet these aspiring artist and elevate them to stardom, whereby trapping them in a world of evil pleasures and addictions? Do you know of any good resources on this subject? Also it is most regrettable that the church does not do enough to warn the youth of these satanic pop stars. But those most responsible are the parents. Our country greatly is in need of Godly parents to lead their family.

I found Kevin Swansons program very appropriate for this topic penny. While some might feel he was too harsh on Katy Perry, I feel Swansons concern about the damage done to our youth valid. Also, I was unaware of the other high profile 'artists' he mentioned which have expressed similar views recently.

SteveR,
Sorry, thought you were on the warpath, not being self righteous. I know she was perceived, by some fans, as a Christian. This announcement would seem to be a good discussion topic no doubt.

yes, she said she sold her soul to the devil.

why aren't our churches warning young people? this is more than immorality, its occultism! are churches that weak in the faith that they can't deal with hard topics like this?

SteveR,
Being "raised" and a professed Christian turning their profession and actually denying God, while knowing what that denial means, are two different things correct? Besides, saying "raca" to your brother is worthy of hellfire too you know. That last note was toward you. You cannot deny that you have condemned some on this mb to perdition, which is worthy of the same judgment of apostasy. That is what you have missed.

I wasnt trying to push you into a display of self righteous indignation, I just wanted to know if the article was accurate & she willingly renounced her faith. The source is a publication I dont trust 100%. More importantly being a famous entertainer with huge fan base of young people, I thought it was a worthwhile fact to know in case one of the youth ask me at Church.

as I was saying...

and I see no one else mentioning....

you've got all these people saying they gave their souls to the devil, I mean, footage of star after star, to the point that it is more that a few, its what is expected and stars saying they just won't sell their soul, so they can't make it to the top, you've got descriptions when putting their work together which sounds like demon possession.... occultic/freemasonry symbolism in video that resembles acts of sacrifice to molech, even sacrifice of the star, you've got the drug addictions, and strange passing away of folks.

this is a satanic occult industry. until one starts to hear their testimonies, and testimonies of those who have been able to get out of it, I am not sure that we understand the nature of these things. once they are in it, it is expected they never leave..... just as with freemasonry, if one leaves, they leave with all the inside inf.

these people need our prayers!

Am I missing something here? Or didnt Katy Perrys own testimony declare her apostasy?

By Grace are you saved though faith ,and that not of yourself,it is the gift of GOD. I notice a preacher has preached a full sermon on apostate super star Katy Perry,to add to his already 2,238 sermons. The church of our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is not without her super stars,
I pray he did so with tears, seeing as he is preacher to the lost. I did not listen to Kevin Swansons sermon in final judgment on this most confused young woman, but to judge her an apostate. LORD I am ready to go with you, both into prison, and to death. And he said ,I tell you Peter the cocktail shall not crow this day before you shall deny three times that you know .

Father give me the share of the property that is coming to me. Not many days later the younger son gathered all that he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. No doubt the parents of this young girl are broken hearted,as are many who see their children leave home, and make shipwreck of their upbringing. She is not out of reach of their prayers.I left home like the prodigal as a young lad to do national service, and fell into riotous living.
The prayers and tears of a godly mother followed me. She did not live to see my conversion, There is hope for this foolish young lady yet.
