Mom who baked cookies for school bus riders for 15 years shut down by complaint
A Chanhassen mother who has been baking cookies for the kids on her children's bus for 15 years has been shut down by an anonymous complaint.
Every Friday, Anne Tabat has met the school bus in her subdivision with a basket of cookies. It began as a thank you to the bus driver. And, Tabat said, she couldn't give the driver a cookie without giving one to every child on the bus.
Tabat said the cookies were also a way to get to know her neighbors.
Penny, you are so right about the other things also, because they are not even trying to find out why so many allergies, autism etc. I have never seen so must autism as we are having today. Something has to be causing this!
I agree with your comment there are reasons we have to do these things and that's because of so many allergies now than ever. My son as a baby was very allergic to milk and I had to figure it all out myself because the doctors really didn't seem to know and when we put him on goats milk( advice from husbands brother-in-law who raised goats and that was all they drank) within 3 days his rash was cleared. There are so many law suits now, that I would be really afraid to do this giving out of cookies.I got the goat milk from the grocery store.
Dolores, I remember when they were suddenly concerned of spreading disease and moms were no longer allowed to bake things for the class -- one angry spoke in the wheel will try to stop the whole wheel from turning. but there is another side to this. many have conflicting allergies today. our medical profession dare not challenge, and so families are left with just being "ok" with autism, autoimmune disease, and allergies. I could think of multiple recent practices offhand that are obvious culprits to be looked at.... the "experts" say they know nothing and nothing can be done. ok, then they know nothing, I move on. we like our myths. its rather sad, these kids growing up will not have normal lives....
seems a strange and apathetic response. if a car has one broken piece, its recalled across the nation. but when entire generations are facing cataclysmic health issues, its ho hum, nobody knows.... really?
but.... injecting peanut oil and egg protein into someone's blood with adjuvants and being surprised their body creates an autoimmune response to those proteins, is akin to a pregnancy being "unplanned".
I was thinking about as a homeroom mother in my children's classes, how many times I baked cookies and cupcakes for the classes different parties,Christmas, Easter. Not once in all those years of parties did we once hear a complaint from the mothers of all these children I always felt this was one of the many perks of being a stay at home mom. There could be many reason for this mother to put a stop to the cookies and one being she didn't want this woman to have the favor of anyone since she couldn't or wouldn't bake the cookies herself. So she rained on everybodies parade. There are people out there like that even Sunday School teachers because I know a few.
here's a question for our greater array of Christian thinkers.....
if peanut oil and egg proteins are injected directly into human blood along with chemical adjuvants (that artificially stimulate an immune response), would it be possible to see the body create an immune response to the peanut and egg proteins?
does the body, in its highly stimulated immune state somehow have the wisdom to recognize peanut and egg proteins that would in normal situations in nature be digested in the gut first?
used to be if a neighbor had an issue they didn't call in the nannies to mediate, why not go directly to the lady and say "so and so" has an allergy? I know many with life altering allergies, and they wouldn't ask someone to stop eating a cookie, but some allergies are life threatening just by touching it, if that's the case, I'm sure this nice lady would like to know. not sure why there has to be such hostility towards Miss Dolores.

Have you considered that maybe some kid had a genuine problem, like an allergy to wheat or gluten (mentioned below by “get real”)? Such allergies can be life-threatening, so how could we blame a parent for complaining? Anyway, as we don't know the facts, it's premature to pass judgement, however tempting it may be for Fundamentalists to do.
Reports of such allergies are on the increase of late; I'd be a fool to claim to know why, for even the experts are baffled.
Dolores, Merry Christ(mas). Emmanuel - God with us. I do enjoy the hymns, joy to the world the Lord has come, let earth receive her King. let every heart prepare Him room and heaven and angels sing. I hope you enjoy a cookie or two this week and some happy company.
At best a cookie has no hormones in it to make it grow bigger or wax on it to make it look good or antibotics in it. At worst it contains sugar and milk and flour which doesn't sound dangerous to me, just a good tasting treat for the kids to enjoy as they ride the bus to school. Actually, the wellness food might be more harmful.
A bus load of school kids are deprived of kindness by one woman giving them a cookie because one coweredly( didn't leave her name) woman didn't want her child to have one. What is this child being taught as well as the other children on the bus.How sad.
it seems we are shutting down every personal gesture of kindness. everything must be approved by nanny. it is amazing to me watching this happen, people feeding the homeless having to deal with cops, licensing, whatever it may be.
Well, GS, I thought maybe there was a very slight possibility that you missed a line in the article. Nope, nothing missed...just about the cookies...ha-ha. Maybe a mod is the Chanhassen mother, or maybe, just maybe, a parent was concerned about their child who has nut allergies. Although, it seems voicing that concern would be in order instead of keeping it all a secret.
