More than 90 Catholic, evangelical and Protestant leaders have signed a statement rebuking “pro-life” lawmakers for the shutdown, saying they are “appalled that elected officials are pursuing an extreme ideological agenda at the expense of the working poor and vulnerable families” who won’t receive government benefits.

Starting Wednesday, evangelical, Catholic and mainline Protestant leaders will hold a daily “Faithful Filibuster” on Capitol Hill with Bible verses on the poor “to remind Congress that its dysfunction hurts struggling families and low-income people.” ...

Yeah, I know UPS! I do appreciate the sympathetic note, at least the head cold can at least serve as an excuse for fumble fingers--put it to some good use. Ah, by the way, hope you don't have high blood pressure UPS!

Does it really make House Speaker John [Boner ] Boehner proud that when the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank host global economic leaders on Thursday, one of their central pieces of business will be scolding the United States for using the debt limit as a political football?

It’s heartbreaking because the reward to President Obama for pursuing broadly middle-of-the-road policies is to be accused of being an ultra-liberal or, even more preposterously, a socialist. Are our right-wing multimillionaires and billionaires, who are making more money than ever, so unhinged that they can cast a modest tax hike as a large step toward a Soviet-style economy?

Jim, sorry you have head cold, maybe the tablet you need to try is alka seltzer plus (jpw may have a better all natural remedy) Hope and pray and you feel better soon. Oh, and Obamacare doesn't kick in until next year so government cannot help you yet.

Why are griping? Because for once, the government isn't doing their job for them? Instead of a daily phony filibuster, why not go out and help those poor people?
