India’s poor ‘duped’ into clinical trials for untested drugs

His family and health rights group Swasthya Adhikaar Manch (Health Rights Platform) say that he would never have enrolled for the trial had he known that an untested drug would be administered.

The family also claims that the side-effects of the drug left Pathak suffering from dementia. ...

yes, I hear of such testing quite frequently... go to places or groups that cannot stand up for themselves. then results are shown in their local newspapers, nightmare results sometimes, and the western press just won't play it.

Southern Baptist Press currently has recommendations for a procedure that many have called experimentation in the states -- resulted in the deaths of 44 girls according to some news articles, I don't have my hands on official statistics at the moment, thousands of cases of severe physical issues...

I guess they trust their political associates to give them good information, enough not to check things out for themselves.

"The clinical research market in India grew by 12.1 percent in 2010-11 with revenues of $485 million, according to report"

When mammon's big companies are involved ethics are nowhere to be seen.

Here is an industry of science which purports to "help(?)" mankind, yet it can be easily seen as the iniquity in man which promotes profit rather than succor towards their neighbour.
