Study: Longtime Marijuana Smokers Lack Motivation, Reward-Seeking Behavior

A new study finds that longtime marijuana use lowers motivation and reward-seeking behavior as the brain produces less dopamine.

In a small sample test, researchers in the United Kingdom scanned the brains of 19 long-term marijuana smokers along with 19 nonusers of the same age and sex, measuring the distribution of chemicals throughout the brain via positron emission tomography.

In case we forget,
American Tract Dictionary wrote:
Drunkenness

Is referred to in the Bible both in single instances and as a habit. Its folly is often illustrated, Ps 107:27 Isa 19:14 24:20 28:7,8, its guilt denounced, Isa 5:22, its ill results traced, 1Sa 25:36 1Ki 16:9 20:16, and its doom shown, 1Co 6:9,10. It is produced by wine, Ge 9:21 21:33 Jer 23:9 Eph 5:18, as well as by "strong drink," 1Sa 1:13-15 Isa 5:11. Hence the use of these was forbidden to the priests at the altar, Le 10:9; and all are cautioned to avoid them, Pr 20:1 23:20. To tempt others to drunkenness is a sin accursed of God, 2Sa 11:13 Hab 2:15,16. Its prevalence in a community is inseparable from the habitual use of any inebriating liquor. Hence the efforts made by the wise and good to secure abstinence from all intoxicating drinks, 1Co 8:13.

A problem in many countries including England, before marijuana ever came to use. Or for that matter, A counterblaste to tobacco:King James’s anti-smoking tract of 1616. The native American's revenge, for the above mentioned alcohol.

Man is almost as inventive about drugs as in methods of killing each other.

Amen and amen. Praise the Lord!

Psalms 40:2-3 KJV
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

As a former marijuana smoker for the better part of a decade I can atttest to a portion of this article. While you are on marijuana you definitely have no motivation. HOWEVER, this article does not at all take into consideration the regenerate power of our Savior and God so on the other hand I take offense to the article as well. I am now a proud husband, father of 2, and leader in the church just a short 5 years removed from my past life and all of that is because of the aforementioned regenerate power. The Lord continues to work on some memory loss I have suffered, but I am confident I can be productive for the Kingdom even if I don't get that back. I just had to throw in my two cents.
Thanks for that testimony of God's power to save!

Your two cents worth were good to read.
