Schuller's Crystal Cathedral may be reborn as Catholic
A Roman Catholic diocese made a $50 million cash offer to buy Southern California's financially struggling Crystal Cathedral, officials said Friday.

The church is also mulling several other offers. A real estate investment firm offered $46 million, as did Chapman University, which is considering building a medical school on the sprawling campus. A Norco-based church, My Father's House Church International, also made a $50 million offer for the property, which includes the famous glass-spired church designed by architect Philip Johnson.

The diocese, which is looking for a less expensive alternative to building a new cathedral for its 1.2 million parishioners, said its proposal would allow the Crystal Cathedral to lease portions of the property for three years at below market rates. ...

RCC is not a Cult
The Catholic Church also demands that worship, which according to Scripture is due exclusively to the one true God in three persons, is also to be given to the ‚ÄúSacrament‚ÄĚ or ‚ÄúEucharist‚ÄĚ, the Communion element. Thus, the Church of Rome officially declares,
‚ÄúThere should be no doubt in anyone‚Äôs mind ‚Äėthat all the faithful ought to show to this most holy sacrament the worship which is due to the true God, as has always been the custom of the Catholic Church. Nor is it to be adored any the less because it was instituted by Christ to be eaten‚Äô‚ÄĚ. (Vat. council II)

"Scripture shows that God directly saves sinners by His grace through faith. However, the Catholic Church insists on the necessity of her sacraments and consequently states,
‚ÄúThe Church affirms that for believers the sacraments of the New Covenant are necessary for salvation. ‚ÄėSacramental grace‚Äô is the grace of the Holy Spirit, given by Christ and proper to each sacrament‚ÄĚ. (Cat. 1129)
The sacraments, which are declared by the Catholic Church to be indispensable, nullify the biblical doctrine of man’s redemption." (R.Bennett)

Thus do we see that the heretical UNBiblical teachings of the RCC are just as evil as the Crystal Cathedral.

John Yurich
The problem you have with your definition JY is what the Roman Catholics ADD to their worship - which is idolatry. eg.

"Today there are in the Catholic Church convents of nuns devoted to worshipping the Eucharist on a rotational system day and night. There are devout Catholics who spend hours kneeling before the ‚Äúblessed sacrament‚ÄĚ worshipping and praying to it and obtaining solace, they say, from being in the ‚Äúreal presence‚ÄĚ of Christ Jesus. The horrifying fact is that such people, professing that they are worshipping Christ in a religious and holy way, are literally practising gross idolatry. Worship of the sacrament brings about the wrath of God as promised in His Word. Idolatry is spiritual adultery. The Lord God looks upon those who practice idolatry as haters of Himself, though they pretend to love Him." (R.Bennett)

Like Roman Catholics the Crystal Cathedral are unBiblical and unChristian in their practices and rituals. Both practice the art of heresy. Whilst the RCC worships graven images such as statuettes and relics - the Crystal Cathedral worship man and his culture elevating these above and beyond Scripture law and doctrines, in their religion of Liberalism.

Even the devils acknowledge that.
The fact that the devils acknowledge the Deity Of Jesus and the Holy Trinity is totally irrelevant to the discussion because the devils have always been in spirit form and were never in human form and thus they have no chance of becoming saved. The fact remains that according to the late D. James Kennedy Presbyrerian minister from Fort Lauderdale, Florida the definition of a Cult is a religious organization that denies the Deity Of Jesus and the Holy Trinity. And thus according to Kennedy the RCC is not a Cult. The two doctrines of the Deity Of Jesus and the Holy Trinity are what separate a True Church from a Cult.

No, John that is an over simplication of the gospel. Jesus was God - yes, but we have to also believe that his sacrifice on the cross justifies completely those that belong to Him. The RCs have distorted the message of the cross; therefore they have distorted who He really was and also what His current office is. Once you get the cross wrong, then the building has no foundation; that is what RC has done. The RCs are a cult like Jim is trying to tell you.
No the RCC is not a Cult because it acknowledges the Deity Of Jesus and the Holy Trinity. According to the late D. James Kennedy Presbyterian minister from Fort Lauderdale, Florida a Cult is a religious organization that denies the Deity Of Jesus and the Holy Trinity. The RCC is half False and half True since there are scriptural doctrines in the RCC.

What you want to call 1st Century Judaism, could be 2 things.
1) Christianity with a veil
2) The Rabbinical response

There was not an ethnocentric problem. Have you not read how many converted to the true Faith during the period of Esther?

Have you not read that during the reign of the macabees many were converted, some by force?

In the NT, there are many many proselytes. These are people in the Roman Empire on their way to convert. The early Church was made up by these and already converted or born 'Jews'

"The misconception about Paul with the longest historical pedigree is that he was anti-Jewish. Many imagine that after his Damascus Road experience, Paul immediately rejected Judaism and embraced Christianity."

The OT Jew had faith in the unknown messiah who was to come, was obedient to and dependent to YHWH for his day-to-day sustenance and salvation.

This OT salvation process is no different than that of the NT.

Why John Y., then you really should complain about Schuller, because his daughter took the "ministry" over from him.

It's obvious you didn't read, The Roman Catholic Religion Examined. It's not that long and quite good. the apostle Paul would declare the Romish Church an anathema just like he did those teachers who said yes, you got to believe in Jesus --and-- circumcision. The Romish Church is just damnable that it's laity believe in Roman Catholic Tradition.

Thanks Frank for your kind words.

Agree fully Jim! Like I have said before, it is like the Vatican casting out demons in the Vatican. We agree, good comment and observation.
