Corpus Christi 'Church' replaces pulpit for an elliptical machine

CORPUS CHRISTI — Pastor Bil Cornelius of Bay Area Fellowship isn’t just preaching the word. He’s preaching it while working out.

He is issuing a challenge to his congregation and the entire city: If you’re not happy with your health, do something about it.

The pastor gave six sermons Saturday and Sunday while sweating and huffing on an elliptical machine. He swapped his trademark jeans and polo shirt for workout pants and a black T-shirt proclaiming “I am changed!”

“You have to keep going against the resistance,” he told the crowd. “If you get the results that you want, it’s because you paid the price.” ...

After watching the video ... I must of agreed this is more about smoke and mirrors then actually having a message... One can only wonder if this pastor is truly tending the flock and preparing them for battle or is he pulling the wool over their eyes.

Lurker,
Good to read your post.

Jesus Christ certainly is worthy in the fullest and best sense of the word to be Lord! to have the Name that is above every name, to which every knee will bow in heaven, on earth and under the earth.

I've have had the priviledge of corresponding with a young man who has an excellent video clip "Why I Am A Christian" on www.youtube.com
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3h6EIDMVQQ (I would encourage everyone to watch and to remember to lift this young man up in prayer that God would sovereignly cause him to grow and be fruitful and victorious in such faith)

who was influence by Paris Reidhead's preaching famous on www.SermonAudio for '10 Shekels and a Shirt' and 'So Great Salvation' and on www.youtube.com for "Come And He Will Set You Free"

Wonderfully different from "exercise clowns".

Where is the honor Christ who shed His blood deserves, the appreciation He deserves paid with His life the punishment you deserved, the love He is worthy of, the forsaking of sins forgiven, the turning to obey the Lord Jesus Christ to follow Him and please Him? It isn't there is it.
Amen, Michael.

John Yurich,
Saved from what? Saved to do what?
Until one is under the conviction of the Holy Spirit to be saved from their sins, any "prayer" they might utter will only be along the lines of vainly hoping to save their own skin (not to truly honor God and live for Him) and escape the eternal punishment the sin they love to live in deserves.
Jesus saves His own from their sins, not in their sins which would be utter hypocrisy.
Repeatedly John you have communicated over and over again your unwillingness to obey Christ and His word. Get ready you will have the opportunity to give all you excuses in the day of judgment for your ongoing disobedience and refusal to heed the word of God so many have given you.
Being Born Again means to be saved from ones sins to avoid going to Hell after passing away. That is the whole purpose of becoming saved to avoid going to Hell after passing away. And the Bible does not equate church membership with salvation. And thus church membership is totally superfluous to salvation. And thus when everybody stands before Jesus after they pass away He wil not require that everybody had belonged to a Fundamentalist Protestant Church in addition to having received Him as Savior.

Randy
Thanks for the post this thread is certainly about "Exercise Clowns". Yet if you will such things do directly relate to Salvation, to obedienc to Christ or not, to rightly dividing or handling accurately the Word of God or grossly distorting it to please unrepentant men.

Look at John Yurich's post 9/15/10 4:45 AM and my response to him.

IMHO only those "willfully ignorant of what God Himself says in Scripture of the Gospel and genuine Salvation who has NO Comprehension of the HOLINESS Of God and what honors or dishonors Him" would be uncaring of "Exercise Clowns" don't you think.

And if so ought we discuss only "exercise clowns" or include True and False Conversion that gives rise to such things?

Respectfully

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Bottom line.... I don't give a hoot what "Baptist and other Fundamentalist Protestant teaching on salvation" is. I care about God's teaching and so should you if you are one of His.
Baptist and other Fundamentalist Protestant teaching on salvation states that salvation comes by receiving Jesus as ones Personal Savior which is basically what the Bible states on how to get saved. Prayer is the only way to communicate with Jesus to have Jesus become ones Savior. Unless you know of a better method of commuicating with Jesus?

I am so sad for you. That's your problem you have wrongly put your trust in what a man said. It would have been an entirely different thing if you brother's pastor had told you what Jesus says you must do to be saved, and if you had acted upon what Jesus Himself says.
Then it would not be a man vainly telling you "Your going to heaven", BUT in regeneration the Holy Spirit who would change your love for sin and self to a love for obedience, righteousness, the word of God and Jesus Christ who died for you would bear witness of the reality of being a child of God in a life experience that would line up with Scripture not radically abuse and contradict the identity of those saved, born again you can read of in the Bible.
Sorry you haven't known and experienced genuine salvation to so know and love Christ that you hate the wicked idolatrous religion you cling to and reject the fellowship those truly born again have with each other (despite our differences sometimes) and with the Father and with His Son.

I did what my brother's Non Denominational minister told everybody during that Altar Call how to get saved and that is I prayed to Jesus and asked Him to become my Savior. And according to the teaching of my brother's Non Denominational Church and Baptist Church teaching I became saved the minute that I prayed to Jesus and asked Him to become my Savior. Church membership in any church and that includes Fundamentalist Protestant Churches is not required for salvation. Church memebership is important but it is not required for salvation. And thus someone who becomes Born Again does not have to leave the Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church and Mainline Protestant Churches and does not have to join a Fundamentalist Protestant Church. They will still gain entrane into Heaven because they fulfilled the only requirement the Bible gives for salvation which is they became Born Again by receiving Jesus as their Personal Savior.
