Lack of interest in Pope Benedict's visit
A Comres poll found 79 per cent of people had "no personal interest" in the visit and 77 per cent do not think taxpayers should be paying for it.

They said that it was wrong to be expected to burden the cost of the tour around Scotland and England because the Pope is religious figure.

Taxpayers will shoulder between £10 million and £12 million of the bill for the trip.

The survey of 2,005 adults, conducted for Theos, a religious think-tank, showed only 29 per cent believed the visit would be good for Britain while a third disagreed with this. ...

No, John Y., one reason the English aren't interested in His Unholiness' trip is because he is on a pouching mission. While true it is drawing people "from the frying pan into the fire," paying for his trip will irritate even Christians. Remember he's going to make that old devil Newman a saint, (read the first part of The Attractions of the Roman Catholic Church at the very least!). No the British have a good idea what this old goose-stepper is down to.

It should be pointed out,

1 Timothy 4
4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,
3 men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods, which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.---NASB

"Taxpayers will shoulder between £10 million and £12 million of the bill for the trip."

What a rip off.

The reason behind acceptance of the papal antichrist visit is apostasy in the church. Today it is called Liberalism. This "leaven" has leavened the whole lump and the people of the UK have become anto-Christian which can be observed in the legalising of sodomy and the murder of babies in the womb. Ultimately Romans ch. 1 defines it for us; - 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;.... 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,"

The decline of church in the nations is a sign of the wrath of God.

Ro 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction"

Perhaps the reason why there is a lack of interest in the visit of Benedict XVI to England is that the percentage of Catholics in England is small compared to Anglicans. And another reason could be that secularism is rampant in England.

There are more RC's 'worshipping' than Anglicans, John.
