Not in any significant number since 1688. Thanks be to God.

It will be interesting to see if Condoleeza Rice can be tempted back out of academia. It would be novel to see a smart republican actually run rather than just act as puppet master.

Why as Christians do we so many times quote the bible and say things like "well, I don't like what's going on but you know, render unto ceasar...obey your authorities, etc" The USA is a unique situation in history. Our leaders are not ceasar. They, just like you and I are subject to the Constitution. When our leaders "disobey" the Constitution and we follow them blindly then aren't we disobeying scripture by not render unto Ceasar (Constitution)?
Remember there are some across the pond who still believe in the divine right of kings, and some in the US who, ignorant of the Constitution, imagine the employees of government are Caesar.

This debate is a blind alley. Only individuals can be Christians (i.e., believe the Gospel), so since nations are composed of many individuals, it is absurd to talk of Christian nations unless every citizen in a nation is one, which in America at least, has *never* plausibly been the case.

Now nations can (and should) heed Biblical legal principles in their civil law, but that in itself does not make them Christian.

Nay, On THE CONTRARY, Sarah Palin Is CORRECT To Call (U.S.) America's Foundation As A "CHRISTIAN NATION"--An Historic Authorized Biblical-Literalist 'Protestant' JUDEO-"CHRISTIAN NATION":

NOT, I Repeat, NOT A Satanic-Vaticanist "Jesuitic" Roman-"Catholic"-Cultic Nation Like Mexico, Central & South America--Not To Mention The EU & It's Satanic-Vaticanist/Roman-"Catholic"-Cultic Concordat-Signed Vassal States!

The Republicans' cynical pandering to the Religious Right, will someday have absolutely no effect. I would say it had a negative effect even in the last election. Sarah has just proved she knows no more about history than she does about Christianity. What's Wrong with the Pentecostal Movement?

The Republicans need some different people to run for President.
