Ten U.S. Baptists arrested trying to take 33 children out of earthquake-shattered Haiti say they were just trying to do the right thing, applying Christian principles to save Haitian children.
Prime Minister Max Bellerive told The Associated Press Sunday he was outraged by the group's "illegal trafficking of children" in a country long afflicted by the scourge and by foreign meddling.
But the hard reality on the ground in this desperately poor country—especially after the catastrophic Jan. 12 quake—is that some parents openly attest to their willingness to part with their children if it will mean a better life....
yes indeed, but what should we learn from this ? How should we understand Gods providence in this matter ?
Is God revealing the wickedness of the haitans and the us govt, the one locking them up and the other ignoring their plight ? Its hard to imagine this happening 50 yrs ago i imagine that the us govt would have sorted out the haitans PDQ
or are we to understand this another way ? God sent the earthquakes and is angry with haiti so dont interfere ?

pc,----Haitians are a very sweet, kind people and many are Christians too. Here in America there is a ton of Satanic stuff going on all the time, I have seen it in Asia as well, it is just the state of this fallen world. Remember this used to be a slave island, and you don't really see the old slave islands producing rich nations, perhaps someone will think of something but many of the rich in these nations are the Europeans who come in and make investments/tourist attractions. Gosh, I have known many Baptist missionaries, who gave up all their wealth to help a few children along the way----anyone could have come along the way who hated Christians and make up mumbo jumbo. Maybe there is a naivete that comes with short-term mission trips, where people don't really know what they are getting themselves into, but the long term ones, they generally do, and count the cost and do it anyway, and that is a refreshing thing, compared to couch quarterbacking! And yes, God will avenge the elect, even the dumb ones like me too!

apparently the parents were willing enough that the kids should go but thats no criteria in a nation which habitually abandons its children - another bad sign that the baptists would assist in child abandonement
