MORE THAN 45,000 people have been prosecuted for hate crime over the last four years, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has said.
In its recently released report, Hate Crime Report 2008–2009, the CPS said: ‘…In the four years ending March 2009, over 45,200 people have been prosecuted for crimes involving racial or religious aggravation.’
The CPS said findings also show that more people have pleaded guilty to religious or race hate crimes, and that there has been a reduction in the number of cases later dropped by the CPS....
