Charles Darwin film 'too controversial for religious America'
Creation, starring Paul Bettany, details Darwin's "struggle between faith and reason" as he wrote On The Origin of Species. It depicts him as a man who loses faith in God following the death of his beloved 10-year-old daughter, Annie.
The film was chosen to open the Toronto Film Festival and has its British premiere on Sunday. It has been sold in almost every territory around the world, from Australia to Scandinavia.
However, US distributors have resolutely passed on a film which will prove hugely divisive in a country where, according to a Gallup poll conducted in February, only 39 per cent of Americans believe in the theory of evolution....
The glorification for Darwinsim is qoute "standing up to God." That's the problem with sinners they want someone to stand up to God as Psalms 2:3 says "Let us break their bands asunder and cast their cords from us." See that is what sinners want. They "don't want this man to rule over us" and that man is Jesus Christ. I don't fear the movie but I do think I could make better use to my time than giving any credance to what Darwin's frame of mind might have been in. I guess I am an old fashioned Christian who sees the world in Biblical terms when the Bible say's in Ephesians 4:27 "Neither give place to the devil" it means to me the two hours of that movie could be filled with Godly learning. In Psalm 14:1 The Psalmist states "The fool said in his heart no God." The word fool in that verse translates to mean a stupid person. Since Darwin did not believe in God he would be considered stupid and why would I listen to what a stupid person has to say or what some else had to say about a stupid persons life.
"...Darwin is now idolized by many scientists and others. Often listed as one of the greatest scientists of the nineteenth century, if not the greatest scientist that ever lived, Darwin is one of the few scientists known to most Americans. To understand Darwin as a person and his motivations, one must consider his mental condition and how it affected his work and conclusions." from, ]]Was Charles Darwin Psychotic? A Study of His Mental Health -- One should say his condition came from being an unrepentant sinner!
This is probably going to get a lot of negative criticism, but I as a born-again [John 3:3] Christian wouldn't mind seeing this film on Charles Darwin because I am firm in my faith that God created the world and all in it in 6 literal days and that He rested on the seventh day. Now that being said, What are they afraid of those who won't watch something that may give them a better understanding of C.Darwin. Believers will see that the consequences of grief can be devasting and that Darwin tried to reason with himself over this loss and didn't go to the right source of all comfort the God of all comfort. Darwin may or may not have been a christian, but this film will NOT destroy my faith in the God of the Bible. Let it come to America, because I feel that America especially American Christians have forgotten how to think. The Bible says that my people are destroyed by a lack of knowledge, whatever drove Darwin away from God should draw us closer to God. In Christs Name, Bruce Lantto 2 Tim 1:12. I know whom I have believed.

Psa 12: Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
