400 Students Defy ACLU and Stand to Recite Lord's Prayer at Graduation
Nearly 400 graduating seniors at Pace High School stood up in protest against the ACLU and recited the Lord’s Prayer during their graduation ceremony last Saturday. Many of the students also painted crosses on their graduation caps to make a statement of faith.

Leading up to the graduation ceremony, the ACLU demanded that Pace High School censor students from offering prayers or saying anything religious. In the end, members of the student body were not permitted to speak at the graduation.

Bro. Jim Lincoln,
I usually like your comments, but here you seem to be nit-picking. It wasn't a worship service; rather it was a protest expressing their right to public expression of their faith.

It would have been better to have aaid,
Matthew 22
37 And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the great and first commandment.
39 And a second like [unto it] is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40 On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets.
then to fake a prayer.

I think the change will come at the student level like at so many other times in history!

The fact that a person prays is not evidence that he is a godly person. The Jewish leaders were great irpray-ers,ls but their prayers were not acceptable to God. Notice the motivation for their praying: i:So that they may be seen by menlr (v. 5). It is not wrong to pray on the street corner; it is not wrong to pray in a public meeting. But it is wrong to pray anywhere if your goal is to be seen by men.

That's the way to handle the ACLU and all the rest of those who hate the Bible and our spiritual heritage - DO IT ANYWAY AND DO IT OFTEN!! Take a stand. If they don't like it let them crawl in a hole and cover themselves up. My salute to these students!

It is about time that public school students started standing up against the ACLU.

Kudos to these students for sending a message to the ACLU and all other self-appointed arbiters of freedom that try so hard to control the public expression of so many people in this "free" country of ours.

Still, I would think that at least some in the ACLU would celebrate such a spontaneous student expression--as long as they could make doggone sure that it was not in any way sponsored by or influenced by any authority at that school.

ACLU: "School officials have a responsibility to protect the silently held religious views of others."

Sounds like they're claiming all religious tension is bad--even though many of the most prominent faiths today achieved their greatest growth spurts in the midst of intense persecution. Go figure.
