Church of Scotland criticises Bible's stance against gays
CHRISTIANS who use the Bible to argue against homosexuality have been criticised in the Church of Scotland's official magazine.

It says: "Every student of the Bible is a selective literalist. Those who swear by the anti-homosexual laws in the Book of Leviticus wouldn't publicly advocate slavery or stoning women taken in adultery. They presumably no longer accept Biblical teaching on sexual matters such as polygamy and sex with slaves. And yet there are many who continue to be bound by a few Biblical verses – none of them in the Gospels – about homosexuality, nowadays understood as a matter of genetics rather than lifestyle." ...

"The church's ruling body voted 326 to 267 Saturday to support the appointment of the Rev. Scott Rennie, 37, who was previously married to a woman and is now in a relationship with a man
The case has divided Scottish religious leaders and follows tensions within the worldwide 77 million-member Anglican Communion. About 900 elders and ministers took part in a debate on Rennie's case, but many chose to abstain from casting a vote."
(Assoc Press)

Yes the Kirk's new title is "church of sodom and gomorah"

Note that many "abstained" from the vote - thats as bad as the 326 who voted AGAINST the Scriptures.

Since this country has become the United Kingdom of Sodom and Gomorah the politically correct thing to do is go with the flow of the sewer pipe that runs through this evil nation.

But as Romans chapter one teaches this is actually part of the process of the Wrath of God. The real crime is that this church and country has ditched the Bible.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

GOD is angry with Scotland.

"middle ground" It is an indicator of the power of sin and the struggle within the Christian. Thus the struggle within the visible church.
The fact that Gal 5:17 refers to the "contrary" - "lusteth" opposition between flesh and Spirit illustrates the continued battle within whether we like it or not.
Paul's Romans 7 is also the case in point.
Seeing this strength and power of sin - then Mike you should become a good Calvinist and accept the TULIP doctrine which preaches all this.
There is no need to become a TULIP Calvinist to remain a Christian, pew view.

"A decision on the appointment of openly homosexual Scott Rennie as minister of Queen's Cross Church in Aberdeen will be taken at the General Assembly, the Kirk's supreme body, this evening.
But The Scotsman has learned that motions – called overtures – are being drawn up that propose delaying a final decision on the Kirk's overall position on gay ministers for two years.

Where's John Knox when you need him?

What the editor of "Life & Work" does not tell his readers is that the Levitical prohibitions against homosexuality are renewed in the New Testament whereas the commandments concerning slavery, etc. are not. The article is as dishonest as it is incomplete.

I hope the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland considers church discipline against this individual.

To the editor of "Life & Work".

ICHABOD!

In fairness to the Church of Scotland, we ought to remember that"Life and Work" enjoys complete editorial independence and does not represent the views of the Church as a whole.Having said that , it will be interesting to see how the General Assembly of the Church will deal with the matter next month.

I pray the Lord Jesus Christ will flush out all the "wolves in sheep's clothing" in His Church. Romans 1:26,27 is very clear that Homosexuality is a vile affection, it is against nature, it is indecent. The judgment of God will come upon all unrepentant homosexuals for the error of the CHOICE they have made to yield to their ungodly desires.

But Jim (from Lincoln, Neb), don't you know that Paul taught a different message than Jesus (according to the Liberals)?

You must be one of those Bible-thumpers who actually believe that the Bible was inspired by the same God from beginning to end, and therefore that the message of Christ and the message of Paul were one and the same, and so there is no contradiction between them such as the homosexual apologists allege.

How dare you Fundamentalists tell everyone what to think! ;-)

Whilst men do debate this hellish debauchery children are being indoctrinated with "their" unholy creed in classrooms and media content all across America.

America best be looking to their own problems --- a battle never fought is a battle that can't be won !!!

Listening to all the rhetoric espoused by those who attended "Tea Parties" just echoes the deep seated moral vacuity that exists throughout America ------- they’ll all come out for their pocketbooks, but they won’t “STAND” FOR GODLY MORAL PRINCIPLES …

If people fail to “UNIFY” WITH “ONE VOICE” in order to squelch the progression of this social cancer (the homosexual agenda) there will be Hell to pay !!!

Remember Sodom and Gomorrah ???
All the plan of Jordan was well watered everywhere before THE LORD DESTROYED Sodom and Gomorrah.

Just as Lot cried out to those who sought the two guests (angels) in his home ------- I do now cry out to all who will “HEAR” ……… “I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.”

Your pocketbook is important, but it is secondary to America's digressing moral dilemma !!!

______________ E N O U G H … I S … E N O U G H … !!!

AMERICA NEEDS .. " T R U T H " .. N O W .. !!!

GODLY MEN MUST STAND AS ONE HOLDING “TRUTH” UP HIGH !!!

You gentlemen have been doing such a good job of pointing out the errors of the Church of Scotland, and we across the pond, have troubles with our own hypocrites, e.g., Rick Warren, I've been hesitant to comment on this. I did notice the Church of Scotland hasn't paid much attention to the New Testament either --

Romans 1
27and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due. 28And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;...32who, knowing the ordinance of God, that they that practise such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also consent with them that practise them.

"Homosexuality will be a hot topic at the Church of Scotland's General Assembly in Edinburgh next month when it is asked to rule on the case of an openly gay minister"

Britain and its churches have gone so far away from Bible Christianity, we can only expect one result from this Assemblies deliberations. They will witness to the defeat of Scripture in this church, and concede to the modern anti-christs mind set that is prevalent in this lascivious nation.

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

This is so true. Many of my female co-workers, who leave their kids at home, really don't need to work. Their husbands make plenty of money to support their families, and then some. You can tell by the numerous lavish and expensive garments they wear every day to the office, and the expensive cars they drive. Murphy Brown (Candice Bergen) and Mary Tyler Moore were huge influences here.

The divorce passages in Matt 19 and other parts of the 4 gospels ALSO cover homosexuality, poligamy, incest, etc; by implication. Thus the above-quoted accusers-of-selectivity-in-others are themselves being selective in favor of their own pro-homosexual agenda here.
Interesting (at least to me) that, in my lifetime, the rise in the acceptance of divorce, co-habitation, etc. (1970s) was soon followed by a similar rise in acceptance of homosexuality (1980s-present).
And doesn't it look very much along the lines of the destruction of the family as an institution, the first instalment of which was the removal of wife and mother. They both serve mammon now alongside their male counterpart.
Thus do we observe all decent institutions and authorities being removed and destroyed. EG legislation, justice, education, morals, family and of course the church.

Jude 1:8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

No not completely. There are still some real Christians working hard in the C of S to fight the good fight and contend for the faith. Praise the Lord.

Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

All is not yet lost.

I'm confused about where these heretical beliefs come from. Back in my day most controversies surrounded around how much of a roll should women have in ministry. That seems pale compared to some of the things coming out today!!!
