Free Presbyterian Church weighs up court battle over Bible ad ban

Revd David McIlveen said the ASA had shown "unnecessary hostility" to the church.

A Belfast church is considering going to the High Court to challenge a ruling by the advertising watchdog which deemed its ad containing Bible quotations “homophobic”.

The church had appealed against the original ruling, but heard yesterday that it had been upheld after an independent review.

The review said it had been “reasonable” for the watchdog to conclude that the Bible’s teaching “may not be communicated verbatim and indiscriminately in 21st century advertising”.

Sandown Free Presbyterian Church (SFPC) says the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the reviewer had shown “unnecessary hostility” to its position, and plans to seek a judicial review of the decision. ...

That is what God calls them...were they offended? I hope so..
If someone is not offended it is not the gospel being given

The bible is very clear on the matter both in the old and new testaments regarding sodomy.Whilst mere men creatures of the dust would seek to undermine the veracity of GOD`s holy word ,his truth still remains unchanged.
It is however somewhat ironic that the fpc should on two occasions loose their case against the ASA.
The story of achan`s sin that rendered Israel powerless in the face of their enemies comes to mind.The funding of sodomy by the so called N.I. assembly when the former moderator Ian Paisley held the position of so called first minister has parallels with the aforementioned.No victory can be achieved for the Lord and his precious word when double standards are not dealt with biblicaly.I fear that this will be the case if this matter is brought before a high court if errors are not confessed and dealt with

Isnt that one of satans most frequent ways of tempting the brethren ? 'Oh how the wicked prosper' covetousness, tempting us to look at our aquaintances and compare ourselves ? it can sneak in so easily - how absurd when we have everlasting life bought at such price, it makes me feel ashamed

"It also included 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, which says: “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you; but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God”."

Homosexuality is such an obvious sin, but so many other sins that are named can creep in not even noticed at times. Such as those that commit idolatry, that's exactly what the love of money is! And covetousness, wow! I've had that creep in! When other people seem to have every blessing under the sun! May God renew our minds daily and may we confess and forsake our sins, not lusting after our neighbour's house, spouse, vehicle. May our lives be right, so the "gay" persons around us don't have to see what hypocrites we are and have that as an excuse not to enter The Kingdom of Heaven! Fortunately none of my neighbours have donkeys, so I don't have to worry about coveting them!
