Obama's Perks: Private Jet, Chef Tax-Free; The President Gets $400,000 a Year Plus Plenty of Freebies
America's CEOs are coming under fire these days not just for their hefty salaries but also for their use of private jets, limos with drivers and free trips to posh resorts.
But they aren't alone in living this lavish lifestyle -- the president of United States gets all these perks and more.
And unlike some of his Cabinet appointments, he doesn't have to pay taxes on these benefits.
It might be a bit of a stretch to compare today's corporate titans with the commander in chief, but some Wall Street bloggers clearly upset with President Obama's attempts to rein in executive pay are doing just that....
Corruption aside(many but not all are completely unscrupulous)the difference between the political conservatives and the likes of T.Kennedy, the Clintons, Pres. Obama, et.al., is blantant perk hypocrisy. "Unlike" the conservatives of times past, Pres. Obama has repeatedly referred to the C.E.O.'s as the problem because of their greed(corporate jets). This is ridiculous as both the Pres. of the U.S. and CEO's do this of necessity though both may downsize some. He has also incredibly stated that to oppose their oppresive governmental tax increses is to identify yourself with the shameful title of selfish. Incidentally, I believe that our present unperfect system has fared fairly well considering the top post of the most powerful nation in the world was making only $200,000 for quite a while. Probably, the present figure of $400,000 may be a bit high but is not totally unreasonable(although in the beginning the volunteerism and minimal salaries combined with Biblical principles were a bit more conducive to a truer model of public servanthood.)
Strange this complaint comes when the likes of George Bush, and especially Richard Nixon had no problem of having an imperial Presidency. Our elected King does need the trappings of a King, but being a democracy, these trappings get out of hand.
However did Jimmy Carter's Presidency shine because he walked in his Inaugural Parade instead of using a car, so he would appear to have the common touch. Well, we all know that ]]Jimmy Carter Disgraced For Many Reasons, and didn't look like "the common man" during his famous walk. The American Presidency does need --some-- trappings of kingship.
American executives are the most overpaid group of any in the world and have far too many perks on top of that.
The entire U.S. government is corrupt. The socialist press will report the left scandals as minor or simply let it quickly fade into the horizon.
John MacArthur has a good book on the governments inability to save us but if you are looking for a little good information on the liberal political hypocrisy, there is Peter Schweizer's book, "Do As I Say (Not As I Do)."
Just one little glitch. Poor people may be in debt. And though I am rich. Unpaid taxes, I simply regret.
Tax the "rich"! Tis not greed - I ask? Tax the "rich"! The rich bellow through their mask.
The greedy arrogantly fly jets. The maskers simply have them as pets.
