In an announcement that launched a thousand unprintable puns, adult-entertainment moguls Larry Flynt and Joe Francis said Wednesday that they are asking Washington for a $5 billion federal bailout, claiming that the porn business is suffering from the soft economy.
Francis insisted in a phone interview that this is no joke or publicity stunt, though his tone suggested otherwise.
‚ÄúThe government‚Äôs handing out money to the auto industry,‚ÄĚ Francis, producer of the ‚ÄúGirls Gone Wild‚ÄĚ video series, said on the phone from his Santa Monica office. ‚ÄúWhy shouldn‚Äôt it hand some to an industry the nation could not live without?‚ÄĚ...
i dont know why predestination came into the topic. pornography is something which destroys a person's life, character, thoughts, mind and purity. the mind gets absolutely corrupted. it induces immorality and all kinds of vices. the bible says, "flee youthful lusts" the bible also says in rev 21:8 and in I Cor 3:16 and 17, that God's judgment is pronounced on those breaking the 7th commandment. But praise God, we have a redeemer in Christ, who can deliver us from this awful pit, cleanse from our sins and also clean up the mind. Jesus gives victory even in our though life. I Have personally witnessed many young people delivered by God from porn and set free. May God save such people!! the government should never have truck with people who determine to destroy people's lives. the world would be much much better and safer place without internet porn.

The only important thing is that you understand the Words of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

My point was not to pinpoint a certain individual or groups of individuals. I was actually referring to their lobbies that influence segments of the government. I was thinking of the amount of money that they have spent in trying to defeat proposition 8 here in the last election and wouldn't be surprised if they were to ask for a bail out to recoup funds spent. It amazes me that they have spent so much money to further their agenda here in California and the rest of the world.
I do not disagree with you on the most of your gracious reply and living in San Francisco have witnessed to many homosexuals. Though I must say as a group, they are the most hostile of all sinners to witness to.
hidemi williges wrote: In what way does my comment offend you?
It doesn't offend me, but it may offend God. That would depend on the attitude of your heart when you group people and call them out by their particular sins.
So, I will apologize, and think the best of you and your descriptive phrases of a group of people.
I think it is better to look at the person first as one created by His Maker, with a soul that will be eternally saved or eternally lost. After that, I can address the sin issue with that person.
And, I have, concerning this particular issue. I sat next to a person on a plane to D.C. who said he was a homosexual. He had been raised in the Baptist Church, and rejected everything he had been taught as myth.
We had a discussion of religion and lifestyle which became heated at times, and lasted for the duration of the flight; yet, there was no animosity between us - I was able to tune out the obvious chagrin of a robed clergyman seated opposite us.
Providence allowed that encounter, and I pray that that young man turned from his wicked ways.
So, all of that to say - it is important to relate to people as people, and not as a "labeled member of society."
Matthew 5:28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Man is made in the image of God, that is why pornography is so degrading. Our bodies are meant to be living sacrifices holy and acceptable to God.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Matthew 21:18-20 Now in the morning, as He returned to the city, He was hungry. And seeing a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, ‚ÄúLet no fruit grow on you ever again.‚ÄĚ Immediately the fig tree withered away. And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, ‚ÄúHow did the fig tree wither away so soon?‚ÄĚ
I hope to God that there is no bail out and the porn industry withers and dies, and that men and women may surrender their lives unto God.
Christiana wrote: Hidemi, I'm really surprised by your unloving attitude toward people made in the image of God. He is their judge, or their Saviour. Let's pray for their salvation, and give them truth with love.
In what way does my comment offend you? I am not calling them by derogatory terms. How would you know what my attitude is toward people made in the image of God? More precisely, the two groups of sinners that I mentioned.

Thank you. "Predestination marked the path and mercy walked it." That's it! I love it. I must have heard it from MacArthur.
P.S. I've missed your challenges to critical thinking. Glad you are posting.
Christiana wrote: I vaguely remember a quote that goes something like this - "Grace marked the path, and Mercy walked it."
Neil, maybe you know who said this?
I'm not Neil, but ...
I have 2 -- maybe 3 -- possibilities for your quotation.
1) In referring to a quote by C.H. Spurgeon which goes: "In the everlasting decree of the sovereign God, the footsteps of mercy were every one of them ordained," John MacArthur said:
"Predestination marked the path and mercy walked it.  He saved us.  So who gets all the glory?  He does."
2) The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas have a Morning Offering Prayer which goes like this:
"O compassionate Jesus, look on me today with tenderness and give me the grace to walk on the path of mercy marked out for those who follow you. May all I do today reflect your merciful love. Amen." _____
In my estimation, there must be a singular source for Spurgeon [MacArthur] and the Sisters of Mercy using the same words. I don't recall, or can find, any one verse of Scripture which shares the thought you offered by setting forth that quote.

Ha! Ha! Ha! I haven't read anything quite so ridiculous in ages. There is a silver lining to ever cloud of recession. So THIS is Socialism = Where is Mike???
Not far, Pikestaff. This stuff is what you find in the bottom of the socialist bailout can of worms.
