Obama to take oath on Abe Lincoln's Bible
WASHINGTON (AFP) – Barack Obama will take the oath as US president on the same Bible used to swear in president Abraham Lincoln, the committee planning his inauguration said in a statement Tuesday.

The presidential inaugural committee said the Lincoln Bible would be borrowed from the collections at the Library of Congress.

"President-elect Obama is deeply honored that the Library of Congress has made the Lincoln Bible available for use during his swearing-in," said Presidential Inaugural Committee Executive Director Emmett Beliveau in a statement. ...

Notice below we have Old Abe telling us the truth. But he is bringing up points that Obama, who claims to be in Lincoln's tradition, is flatly ignoring! wwf
--------------------------------------

WISE WORDS FOR THE NEW YEAR

* You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
* You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
* You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
* You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
* You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
* You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence.
* You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could do and should do for themselves.

Do you recognize the author?

It was Abraham Lincoln.

Neil I would never argue that slavery wasn't a necessary cause for the Civil War, I would deny it was a sufficient cause. Jackson, a slave-holder, would have gone to war if South Carolina tried to break up the marriage of the Union, but S.C., would have done and finally did that over the question of slavery and states' rights.
Ah, I should have pointed out I didn't disagree with the poster who thought that the Popish Church didn't support the South, it did. ]]Lincoln's prophetic warning, His Unholiness P. Pius 9 was anti-democratic and anti-American.

Jim: Thomas DiLorenzo & Joseph Sorban (both Roman Catholics) have led the "scholarly" attack on Lincoln's presidency, to the delight of "League of the South" diehards & Federal Visionists like Doug Wilson & Steve Wilkins, who, like Vision Forum & American Vision, promote the "Lost Cause" myth in "Reformed" circles.

With such material as this, atheists can have a field day by associating Biblical Christianity with White Supremacy, & the black community is fair game for Islamic evangelists, who do not foolishly try to defend Islam's record on African slavery.

Ah, Neil,
Abraham Lincoln in his Second Inaugural Address said or, wrote:
One eighth of the whole population were colored slaves, not distributed generally over the Union, but localized in the Southern part of it. These slaves constituted a peculiar and powerful interest. All knew that this interest was, somehow, the cause of the war. To strengthen, perpetuate, and extend this interest was the object for which the insurgents would rend the Union, even by war; while the government claimed no right to do more than to restrict the territorial enlargement of it. Neither party expected for the war, the magnitude, or the duration, which it has already attained. Neither anticipated that the cause of the conflict might cease with, or even before, the conflict itself should cease. Each looked for an easier triumph, and a result less fundamental and astounding. Both read the same Bible, and pray to the same God; and each invokes His aid against the other. It may seem strange that any men should dare to ask a just God's assistance in wringing their bread from the sweat of other men's faces; but let us judge not that we be not judged....

Jim, you must try harder to understand Secessionist "reasoning": attempting to resupply a Constitutionally-authorized Federal fort amounts to an invasion of the state adjacent to it.

S. Carolina fired first – nothing Lincoln did, in bad faith or good, changes this. That linked article is blowing smoke to distract from this essential point.

I just learned that E. Tennessee was occupied by Confederate troops when its heavily Unionist counties voted against secession. Yet it is only Lincoln who is blamed for doing the same thing in Maryland. This sort of double-standard is pervasive in Lost Cause apologetics.

Secession was over the politics of slavery & enforcement of the Fugitive Slave Clause, not lesser Constitutional issues like tariffs or railroads. Just read the Secession documents (q.v.) for proof.

Mike, a comment from an earlier Second Inaugural Address is in order, and I might add from a real American Caesar, and one who flaunted the Constitution.

President Andrew Jackson said or, wrote:
Without union our independence and liberty would never have been achieved; without union they never can be maintained. ... The loss of liberty, of all good government, of peace, plenty, and happiness, must inevitably follow a dissolution of the Union.
He made it plain he would use force to hold the union together, South Carolina backed down the first time, unfortunately it didn't the second time.

Oh, and Merry Christmas.

"Lincoln, from the state of Illinois which Obama represented in the US Congress, presided over the country's biggest domestic crisis, the American Civil War, and ended slavery, but he was killed by an assassin's bullet in 1865..."

a.Former High-Ranking "Jesuit" Priest Alberto Rivera said The Satanic Vatican "Jesuits" Assassinated Lincoln in 1865.

b.Rivera (Poisoned/Martyred By "Jesuits" in 1997) said Although There was Not a "Jesuit" in Ford's Theatre When Lincoln was Murdered by Booth--They were The True Conspirators & Assassins Behind The "Stooge"-Assassins (Booth was One Among Several Conspiring Assassins) Executed For Killing Lincoln.

c.Rivera's Words are Confirmed By Lincoln's Spiritual Advisor; Rev. Charles Chiniquy (1809-1899):

"But who was that assassin? Booth was nothing but a tool of the Jesuits. It was Rome who directed his arm, after corrupting his heart and damning his soul...

I c[o]me fearlessly today before the American people, to say and prove that the President, Abraham Lincoln, was assassinated by the...Jesuits of Rome." !

d.Lincoln: "This (Civil) War Would Never Have been possible without the sinister
influence of the Jesuits.

We owe it to Popery that we now see our land
reddened with the blood of her noblest sons." !

There is always the issue of why an entity may voluntarily join a larger organization, yet be forbidden to leave that organization the same way, voluntarily. Is that forbidding in the Constitution somewhere, Jim?

I see "Jim Lincoln" is playing the historical revisionist again, nice try Jim!

If anyone wants to know who actually started the war, Greg Loren Durand covers this in his book America's Caesar. See CHAPTER TEN: ]]Hostilities Commence in the Charleston Harbor online for proof that Lincoln started the war.

Abe Lincoln, didn't start the War, South Carolina did. One should be very happy that Mr. Obama is going to ignore his Muslim roots and not use the X .

Abraham Lincoln, was neither the first and certainly not the last President to ignore the Constitution.

From Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address,"...On the occasion corresponding to this four years ago all thoughts were anxiously directed to an impending civil war. All dreaded it, all sought to avert it. While the inaugural address was being delivered from this place, devoted altogether to saving the Union without war, insurgent agents were in the city seeking to destroy it..., but one of them would make war rather than let the nation survive, and the other would accept war rather than let it perish. And the war came.

One-eighth of the whole population were colored slaves, not distributed generally over the Union, but localized in the southern part of it....All knew that this interest was somehow the cause of the war. To strengthen, perpetuate, and extend this interest was the object for which the insurgents would rend the Union even by war,..."

The whole address is worthy of reading.

How ironic... that the President-elect, having little respect for the Constitution, will swear to "uphold & defend the Constitution" on the same Bible another President, who also disrespected & violated the Constitution, swore upon.

Lincoln launched an UnBiblical, Unconstitutional, unecessary war... what will "Barry" do to us?
Deja Vu all over again!
