6 'Soulforce' gay rights activists arrested at PBAU
WEST PALM BEACH — Six gay students' rights advocates were arrested Monday morning as they tried to attend a chapel service at the private Palm Beach Atlantic University.
The students, who are members of the group Soulforce, were charged with trespassing - a second-degree misdemeanor that carries a $250 fine - and loaded peacefully onto a waiting West Palm Beach police van.
It was a showdown, of sorts, that had been brewing for months after Soulforce in April asked to visit PBAU during a tour of Christian schools in the South.
