Huge Oil Reservoir May Lie Under Northern Plains
BISMARCK, N.D. — The government estimates up to 4.3 billion barrels of oil can be recovered from the Bakken shale formation in North Dakota and Montana, using current technology.

The U.S. Geological Survey calls it the largest continuous oil accumulation it has ever assessed.

An assessment by USGS in 1999 found the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge had 10.3 billion barrels of recoverable oil, said Brenda Pierce, a geologist for the agency

The Bakken Formation encompasses some 25,000 square miles in North Dakota, Montana, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. ...

I have read through your Eschatology link, plus I have done a lot of reading of the laboratory experiments of the proponens of Dallas Theological Seminary. I recommend that you read "Dispensationalism: Rightly Dividing the People of God" by Keith A Mathison for a balanced view. I used to be dispensationalist but have found that it's positions on soteriology and eschatology are heterodox. Your paper on Eschatology is short sighted and misrepresents the other positions.

Christians won't have to worry, however, because they will be raptured out of that problem, anyway.

I am sorry Reason, but what you have just provided has nothing to do with providing support from Scripture. Also, whatever George Bush may have said at a UN meeting 16 years ago, it was not consistent with his actions over his term in office. Going into Iraq was not consistent UN wishes. And if the Trilateral Commission or the CFR or whatever frat party group may have had to do with George getting into power, who is their next puppet that they are going to put into power? Obama or McCain?

PS. Their is not any more support for your dispensensational mythology in the KJV than any other version of the Bible.

"It is the sacred principles enshrined in the United Nations charter to which the American people will henceforth pledge their allegiance."

John Swinton [1829-1901] Chief Editorial Writer of the New York Times (Considered "the Dean of his Profession" by his peers), when asked to toast an 'Independent Press' in a gathering at the National Press Club, circa 1880

"There is no such thing in America as an independent press unless it is in the country towns. You know it, and I know it. There is not one of you who dare express an honest opinion. If you express it you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid... for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things...."

When one brings the doctrines of "one world order", the conspiracy theories of "the Illuminati" and other non biblical fantasies into the debate, one must ask is "is this reasonable debate?" One's credibility of reason must be questioned. Perhaps some Scriptural support my be provided. I was questioning your reasoning, not your person.

Our corrupt government has allowed big oil to overrun our economy in much the same way as they have allowed illegal aliens to overrun our borders.
We have all the oil we need within our own borders, a massive supply of local crude that could quickly drive oil prices down to reasonable levels and provide the spur to our domestic economy that could jolt us out of the upcoming recession and/or depression. Instead we may get a new war for profit shoved on us by the "Illuminati," a new front that will be added to the responsibilities of our exhausted military in order to direct our attention away from the dealings of the "Illuminati" and failings..

Mike, actually the environmental lunnies are those who oppose nuclear energy! If we had more of our energy coming for nuclear power, we wouldn't be dependent on oil (from all the wrong places) or coal.

If you think that socialism is a christian principal and that the state should own the oil companies and everything thing else for that matter, then I recommend that you move to Cuba or Venezuela and let Hugo determine your take home pay.

If you don't allow us to make winfall profits when the market is good. We will stop drilling for oil as the U.S. has. Then, watch the price double, maybe triple. And whose fault would this be. Conspiracy theorists in Congress and Hugo and naive people like you.

Glad to hear you're opposed to socialism. So you must be opposed to spreading the pricing "pain" to areas where demand for fuel is flat, or diminishing. That's commendable. From each according to his ability(to pay) to each according to his need(for fuel) is a socialist-tinted game, I suspect. Must be ok if not imposed by a government. But I'm naive.

The US has stopped drilling not because it couldn't profitably do so, but because of undue influence of environment worshipping, capitalism hating lunatics, on lawmakers.

rogerant: "There is too much preaching from the pulpits about the evil of people and entities outside of the church"

Hear, hear! We had one pastor who would lambaste Supreme Court justices almost every week, but one day in the business meeting, moved to suspend the newly-approved church constitution to allow a merger with another congregation (thus bypassing due process for admitting new elders & members)! Of course, we were outvoted. And this was not the 1st time we've seen a church constitution flouted. Perhaps these, too, are only "living documents" (i.e., dead letters).

Maybe there's good reason for unbelievers to accuse churches of hypocrisy.

San Jose is fine--lots of construction going on around here, it seems--and the Sharks are making it to the playoffs more often.
Sunnyvale has an OPC close to Mountain View. If you were there in the early 90s, you probably heard Don Buchannan's preaching, but he's since moved on (retired?).
Yeah, our fallen human natures would much rather hear preaching against people (outside the church) other than ourselves.
Our oil companies are like sports teams and many of us Americans, rather than admitting our ignorance of the rules (in this case, economics), feel much better about ourselves if we accuse our "team" of cheating, even when they DO follow the rules. Frustrating.
Yes it was Don Buchannan who is now preaching in a OPC in La Mirada.

As for the Sharks, they are better off without Wilson as coach. He can't seem to motivate Thornton in the playoffs. I have moved on to the Penguins

Definitely worth looking into.

As for getting defensive for the evil "big oil" barons, I don't do well with christians identifying governments with corporations as evil entities. There is to much preaching from the pulpits about the evil of people and entities outside of the church. I attend church because I need to hear the full force of the law proclaimed to my evil wandering heart, not the evil of those outside.

I also recommend ]]Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell, who unwittingly heeds Biblical economics & justice better than many Christians. He mentions oil issues along the way.
