Scholar says he's found Ark of the Covenant
Like another famous swashbuckling treasure hunter, he has a fear of snakes. And he's not averse to associating with mystics, charlatans and crooks in his quest for prized artifacts.

But unlike his fictional alter-ego, the "British Indiana Jones" claims he's discovered the genuine Ark of the Covenant — or at least a direct descendant of the vessel constructed to hold the original tablets inscribed with the Ten Commandments.

In a newly released book, University of London professor Tudor Parfitt claims to have located the treasured artifact on a dusty shelf of an out-of-the-way museum in Harare, Zimbabwe. ...

in ZIMBABWE ?!!?
What is it doing there? The movie put it in a warehouse in the U.S.A. government building. That was the humerous end of the movie, anyway. I agree with those who think with time, it just was worn out and it no longer exists. ( Unless God took it to heaven, and chooses to use it for His own purpose in the future. ) By the way, many Bible scholars think that the HUGE temple mentioned in Ezekiel is a picture of heaven, in the new Jerusalem. It is HUGE ! So if there is an ark of the covenant there, I am sure God has a glorious reason for it there. Jesus Christ is who we glory in for all eternity.

Maybe the church is the temple this Anti-christ will seek to descrate. And that should cause each of us to take care how we build on the church. We are in agreement though, that the apostacy is already happening and that we are at the end. I just worry that it won't play out in the manner that so many in the church are expecting and that is a great fear of mine. That we or I will not be ready for our Lord's return. Will He find faith when He returns? These passages have always freaked me out because they are so cryptic in their meaning to me.

Oak, I agree, God will fulfill all prophetic promises, but that doesn't mean all will be fulfilled immediately. For example, the second return of Christ is prophesied, and has yet to be fulfilled {Acts 1:11}. What temple will the Anti-Christ set himself up in after he has deceived the whole world {Matt. 24:13, 2 Thess. chapter 2}. There are prophecies yet to be fulfilled concerning Christ's second coming, and some that are coming to pass as we speak. For example, the apostasy, or falling away spoken of in 2 Thess. 2:3; this one is unfolding at an alarming rate globally, through the emerging church movement, and word faith movement {just to mention a couple}.Then, the Anti-Christ will be revealed. There must be a temple for Him to desecrate, otherwise, scripture is not true. The Jews are swooned by him with a false peace treaty, which he breaks halfway through the tribulation, the time of Jacob's trouble. If this has already happened, then apparently many have missd the second coming. Let's keep in mind, the Jews are still waiting for their Messiah.

"This is much too detailed to be symbolic, however, just because some have 'pre','a',or 'post' mil view"

I do not hold any of these positions. Again, I am not a dispensationalist. Fulfillment always transcends promise. If the temple spoken of by Ezekiel exists it does so already and in another realm, this is why it came as revelation to Ezekiel, because Christ IS the fulfillment of what the temple was representing in type and shadow in this age and world. Any attempt to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem will, in my inconsequential opinion, be blasphemous and spittle in the face of what Christ accomplished by his death, burial and resurrection. Also, I do not think it is wise to assume that a person that is able to quote scripture or who has a doctrinal background can be considered a believer. Hence, there are many so called believers on this site who do not have the Spirit of Christ and cannot make a claim to Him. Just something to ponder.

I agree, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Jews missed their Messiah because of their unbelief. If this temple in Ezekiel is nothing more than a revelation, why such detail? This is much too detailed to be symbolic, however, just because some have 'pre','a',or 'post' mil view does not negate their salvation. That was really my point, there seems to be a lot of puffed up Christians who demand others to accept their view. Many prophetic passages aren't clear, and we should never assume we have the final and only clear understanding on them. This division over who has it 'right' is a waste of time, Christ did not call us to debate endlessly with our own, but to proclaim the gospel to the lost. It would appear Satan has a foothold within the body of Christ, and loves it when we attack each other. However, scripture teaches us to be humble, and to rightly divide the word, WITH THE LOST!!!Those who deny Christ, the narrow way, uphold church doctrine over scripture; these are who we need to rightly divide the word to.

enough already,

I agree. However, we are to exhort and challenge eachother in areas of doctrine and practice. I meant no attack on any one personally and if you took it that way I apologize.

I believe the temple that Ezekiel speaks of was revelation and does not necessarily mean a structure must be built that meets those requirements. The Jews of Jesus' day missed the Messiah and what He fulfilled in regards to the temple because of their erroneous interpretations of scripture. Jesus stated that though they destroy this temple of God, He had the power to rebuild it in three days. This He did at the resurrection. And they scoffed and said it took many many years to build this structure and you are going to rebuild it in three days? We who are "born again" become a temple of the Holy Spirit as stated by Paul and Peter in the new testament. Many Christians today are waiting for the temple mount to be rebuilt and reinstated by the building of this temple but the fulfillment has already happened. That is all I meant.

First of all, I never said I supported any dispensational doctrine. I asked you what temple was being referred to in Ezekiel, I am not trying to incite an argument, I am asking you to explain to me what temple this is. I am weary of all the 'labeling' Christians put on each other. I follow Christ, and the holy bible. If I differ in views with others, that doesn't make me right or them wrong, we should all still have common ground and unity through salvation. Too many want to scold others whose views oppose their own. This produces sarcasm, arrogance, and division. To rightly divide the truth is one thing, to use that as an excuse to attack other Christians is quite another. Let us not forget humility; this seems to be lacking it the church today. We are not glorifying God when we lash out at our own. I simply wanted your answer concerning the temple spoken of in Ezekiel, that's all!

Dispensationalism is heresy. The temple of God has already been built by the Son of David. This refers to the church that Christ established. Learn how to correctly divide the word of truth and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ or you too will be deceived and confounded in the coming turmoil.

Unfortunately, he has the same evidential problem that Catholics have with their cult of relics. How can one know for certain it's not a fake?
Even granting that it's genuine, this should be only of passing interest for Christians who've read the book of Hebrews.
What about 1 Thessalonians, Daniel and Revelation which says the antichrist will sit in a rebuilt temple and declare himself to be God? If this is the true ark of the covenant(which I doubt it is) you can bet Israel will build a temple soon.

Hard to believe something like that (Ark of the Covenant)
would still be intact after all these years.

No doubt Babylonian conquerers were highly motivated to
preserve the Ark as a trophy of conquest, but subsequent
"owners" of this relic would probably be more interested
in melting off the gold and throwing the wood and it's
contents away.

Just look at the havok wrought on Egyptian tombs and
temples by grave-robbers over the centuries.

After the inner temple curtain was ripped top-to-bottom
during Christ's crucifixion, any/all elements in the
Holy of Holies would surely have lost their "Old Testament"
power--which makes movies like "Raiders of the Lost Ark"
that much less compelling. Oh well, it's still a fun movie!
