Pope: That Martin Luther wasn’t so bad
Pope Benedict XVI is to rehabilitate Martin Luther, arguing that he did not intend to split Christianity but only to purge the Church of corrupt practices.

Pope Benedict will issue his findings on Luther (1483-1546) in September after discussing him at his annual seminar of 40 fellow theologians — known as the Ratzinger Schülerkreis — at Castelgandolfo, the papal summer residence. According to Vatican insiders the Pope will argue that Luther, who was excommunicated and condemned for heresy, was not a heretic.

Cardinal Walter Kasper, the head of the pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, said the move would help to promote ecumenical dialogue between Catholics and Protestants. It is also designed to counteract the impact of July's papal statement describing the Protestant and Orthodox faiths as defective and “not proper Churches”. ...

John Yurich
Please, I beg you, cease being wise in your own eyes AND reconsider what you in your own words have posted.

...trusting in Christ is something people do indeed do

...BUT That is NOT what it means to be born NOT of blood (having the right human parents), nor of the will of flesh, nor of the will of man (there is literally NOTHING you can do for yourself, nor other human beings can do for you, even infant baptism, that will make you 'born of God')

New Birth, regeneration, is a supernatural work/act of God NOT MAN
that God Himself alone must do to save a sinner from their sins AND MAKE THEM A NEW CREATURE IN CHRIST

religion, even saying a sinners prayer, does not do this!

And do listen to those who testify to knowing their lives were changed by God
and for God
that who they/we used to be is dead
nailed to the cross
and now the Spirit of God lives in us

We may indeed say, I prayed/cried out to God AND HE SAVED ME
and would never in our right minds say
that our "trusting" is what saved us
but His doing.

John, May I please ask; do you understand what it means to be born again? It starts by seeing ourselves as God sees us, sinners without hope. When we have humbly confessed our sins before Him, then we must leave them, turning completely from them and to Christ. We put our faith and trust in Christ, and study God's word daily, being obedient to what it says. We also must find a bible-believing church, one that preaches the whole counsel of God {not one that places church doctrine first, and the bible second}. I pray God will grant you understanding on this; and help you to see loyalty of the slightest to an apostate church will harm you greatly.

Let's take a mortal man, a wretched sinner just like every other mortal man, and let's put him in a nice robe. Let's allow him to live in absolute splendor with unfathomable wealth and resources. He can travel the world with a stupid hat on his wretchedly sinful head that indicates that he is the 'Vicar of Christ'. Let's even give him a bulletproof 'popemobile' to ride around in. Let's adore him, kiss his ring, fall at his feet and cry when we see him. Let's consider his every utterance to be an edict from God. Let's decide what's right and what's wrong, what's sinful and what's not sinful based on his wretched, sinful, mortal judgement. Let's ignore or blow off the history of his office and the historically corrupt organization he represents.
Now let's call him "THE HOLY FATHER".
What absolute blasphemy. That's why those who understand call him Anti-Christ.

What is with you Fundamentalist Protestants on here anyway? Why do you guys keep stating that the RCC believes in a different Jesus? The Apostles and Nicene Creeds which are the Statement Of Faith of the RCC state "We believe in ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST, the only Son Of God". Now that is the bibilical and historical Jesus that the RCC believes in. So knock off this insanity that the RCC believes in a different Jesus.

The Pope makes me laugh. I believe in The Word of God, and that the Bible is the only authority I need on teaching me the Word. Amen As for the Pope......his comments are for reference only at the very best, seems as membership in RCC is declining quickly he needs to keep putting out these "news flashes" to try to stay relevant. Pick up your bibles people and read The Word of The Lord. All the answers we seek are contained there.

Michael, I believe and do all these things.

The only problem is, you have the wrong Jesus that is taught by rome, and not the Jesus Christ of the Bible.

Lance Eccles,

when the blind lead the blind with the aid of the half-truths and lies of the RCC they are the ones who are "hideously deceived".

"Look unto me, and be saved, all ye ends of the earth" (Isaiah 45;22).

"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh I willin no wise cast out (John 6;37).

Our God does not lie; we can trust His Word.

II Thessalonians 2:15:
"So then, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye were taught, whether by word, or by epistle of ours."

This is what Adam Clarke wrote for the above, "Hold the traditions which ye have been taught] The word...., they were a revelation from God; for they came by men who spake and acted under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit; and on this ground the passage here can never with any propriety be brought to support the unapostolical and anti-apostolical traditions of the Romish Church; those being matters which are, confessedly, not taken from either Testament, nor were spoken either by a prophet or an apostle."
In the above he was most assuredly correct!

Interesting, Lance, you complain about many of the comments about the Popes were opinions, and yet you expect us to accept the opinions of Popes, all of which were uninspired! ]]Revelation and the Church

If you read scripture with the assurance that it is true you are told that to be justified is to be sanctified and glorified. Rom 8: 30. and 1Cor 6: 11. Do we trust God's word or not?
You must be saved by grace, still nothing we do can get us to heaven, also it's our choice weather we go or not. I'll give proof from the bible.

Lance: by the way, KJV1611 can KNOW that he is going to heaven because he has most likely read I John 5:13, and Romans 8:16 declares that the Holy Spirit also confirms to our hearts that we are truly born again. A roman catholic can never have that confident assurance. You must always stay in favor with the church, keep going to confessional, attend mass, etc etc. Even after death, the best that you have to look forward to is X number of years in hell (little h), i.e. purgatory.
