Huckabee says his beliefs -- not his ego -- keep him in the race
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Mike Huckabee said Tuesday passion for his beliefs — not his ego — was the reason he remains in the Republican presidential race despite near-impossible odds. Rival John McCain collected another primary win in Wisconsin and moved closer to the 1,191 delegates needed to clinch the nomination. Huckabee hasn't won a contest since Feb. 9.

"Let me assure you that if it were about ego, my ego doesn't enjoy getting these kinds of evenings where we don't win the primary elections," Huckabee told reporters at a Little Rock hotel. "So it's got to be about something more than that, and it is. It's about convictions."

The former Arkansas governor said he still wanted to deliver his message about issues important to him, such as opposition to abortion and a revised U.S. tax policy. ...

Mike--

Har-dee-har.

It was a secret deal they had conceived before Super Tuesday to steal from Romney he was expected to win (and did win handily in the first ballot--it's a caucus state--before the secret deal was executed for the final ballot), and it was when the final ballotting took place that it became clear to the public that a deal had been made because almost to a man everyone in the McCain camp made a sudden shift to Huckabee after having received calls from McCain headquarters instructing them to do so (which also came out later)in order to prevent a Romney win. Look it up if you don't believe me. There were plenty of news stories about it. You can run the delegate numbers yourself and see.

Huckabee is shady like McCain. He made a backroom deal with McCain in the West Virginia caucus wherein McCain and Huckabee had a prearranged deal to the effect that McCain at the last minute would give all his delegates to Huckabee to edge out Romney--that is, for no other reason than to make sure Romney didn't win. So if you were a West Virginia McCain supporter, little did you know when you went to the polls that you weren't voting for McCain at all--he already intended to give all the votes to Huckabee. A duplicitous interference in the democratic process from him who gave us McCain-Feingold, the alleged point of which bill was to mitigate political interference in the run-up to elections. But somehow it's ok for McCain to call up his delegates in secret after thge first poll and tell them all to switch sides. That sure sounds like political pressure/interference in an election to me. Huckabee's got a number of other shady aspects too. I think he's a decent enough guy, but I think (like many who seek power) he has rapidly begun to make compromises to suit his ambition.
If this was done in secret, how did you find out?

What candidate wouldn't say the same thing? The only question is whether their beliefs are true, and if so, whether they have the character to act upon them, esp. when it's costly.
