New website to attract more men to Catholic priesthood
A new website has been launched for Allen Hall, the Seminary of the Diocese of Westminster, to encourage more men to enter the Catholic priesthood.

The head of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, said: “I welcome everyone to the new Allen Hall website. I hope that it will help people to appreciate the valuable work of our diocesan seminary, and the rich history of priestly formation in this country.

“I hope especially that it will help those thinking about priesthood to see the beauty of this vocation, and be inspired to find out more about the priesthood and the Diocese.” ...

Unfortunately, Lance, neither is the Bible which should be the Roman Catholic Church's --only-- yard stick. Sola Scriptura! ]]Roman Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses. Muslims and Catholics have much more in common with each other than they do with Christians.

Sorry, I have to respectfull and greatly disagree with you on this being a side issue.

For it is written:
Rom 10:14,15
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Lance
It is quite inconceiveable that Jesus Christ would send those preaching a false gospel, a different God, an imagine God to be whatever you think He might be, to people...

as a false god never saved anyone from their sins

Catholic people are famous for listening to their priests rather than for reading the Bible for themselves and this being the case I have to consider the words God gave Isaiah...

Isaiah 9:16
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

It's unfortunate that Mark M from Georgia has adopted a universalism that is much too prevalent in the church today. It's comes out of the mouths of many "leaders" in the church from Osteen to Billy Graham to Rick Warren to so many more.

According to them as long as we are morally good we're all headed to the same place.

However the Bible says quite the opposite which is antithetical to this universalism of the WCC............. "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in
Truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him MUST worship Him in Spirit and in Truth"......John 4:23,24

Lance, how about Colossians 1:13-17: "Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: FOR BY HIM WERE ALL THINGS CREATED, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY HIM AND FOR HIM: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist"

Very true, Mark.

I'm late for this one, but I don't think many men will sign up willingly for a lifetime of celebacy, especially when the Bible never requires such a vow, to serve any church. It simply is not in a man's nature, directly in the first book of the Bible, it is not good for a man to be alone. This doctrine leads to the kind of scandals that rocked the Catholic Church before. Again, it is my contention that most Catholics are Christian and headed for the same Heaven that the Protestants are. In fact I feel that all denominations are imperfect just as all of us as individuals are, but shouldn't someone who reads the Bible and accepts Jesus as their only Saviour want to be the best Christian that they can be.

I am not trying to be unkind or hurtful to you so please don't take my comment that way BUT please don't dodge the issue that your priests, especially at the highest level have gotten it wrong damnably wrong on the identity of God, of the Creator, in telling sincere devote Catholic people you worship the same god as the Muslims.

If you really want to study something that will truly be of benefit to you Please humbly and prayerfully read the Bible and compare it to offical Roman Catholic teaching and ask yourself, Ask God How in the world could sincere priests and even Popes have gotten it so horribly wrong? And humbly and honestly ask God what He would have you do.

The RCC falls under #2
The church does, not everyone involved with it.

The Bible verses you quote apply to all, so called churches. For in every denomination (key word Jack) there are those doing Gods will.

To condem puts you in the #2 group also.
For by your good works, catholics will be saved.

Don't wait on a thank you, it will be too late.

Lance, since God is a Triune God, Christ and the Holy Spirit was there from the beginning. preacherjond, excellent advice!

John 1
1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5. And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not.
6 There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for witness, that he might bear witness of the light, that all might believe through him.
8 He was not the light, but [came] that he might bear witness of the light.
9 There was the true light, [even the light] which lighteth every man, coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.
....
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

Notice, Lance, no mention the Virgin Mary! ]]Exposing the Idolatry of Mary Worship: An Overview

It wouldn't surprise me if this is within the borders of the United States of America, considering the filth which is spewed forth from the US over TV cables, radio antennas and the internet, polluting the nations of the world with a secular humanistic and lawless philosophy and lifestyle. It's big business and much of it is propagating a way of life contrary to the Christian believer.

May I interject?

"Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

These verses are speaking about Jesus Christ, God the Son. This is shown by verses 13 and 14.

"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:" Col. 1:13,14
