Teen Admits Trying to Hire Hit Man to Kill Parents Over Taking Away Playstation
A 17-year-old from St. Mary's County admitted in court Friday that he tried to hire a hit man to kill his mother. The plea in a juvenile courtroom means that Cory Ryder could be jailed in the state's juvenile system until he turns 21.
Cory spoke with his mother, Shannan Troiano, for about 35 minutes in private after the plea hearing. She wept for several minutes after speaking to her son and said his admission is the first step toward reuniting as a family.
A mother of one of Cory's friends overheard Cory say he wanted his mother dead. The friend's mother alerted the Troianos. Police were called, and they set up a sting in which authorities say Cory tried to strike a deal to have his mother and stepfather killed....
