No reason for gays in Church
The Belfast Telegraph (June 5) quotes the Presbyterian Moderator, Dr John Finlay, as saying: "There would be no reason for not having (homosexuals) as (church) members."

The Holy Spirit describes male and female homosexuality as 'vile affections' and a shameful 'lust' that is 'against nature' (Rom. 1:26-27).

Jesus Christ declares that homosexuals, fornicators, idolaters, thieves, etc, are not citizens of His kingdom (I Cor 6:9-10).

Therefore, any impenitent homosexual church member must be excommunicated, like the incestuous man in I Corinthians 5. ...

Oh, wretched sinner out there, if I am the only one in here you will here this from, so be it, but listen clear. God loves you. Yes you. He died for you! He desires YOU to repent and come to his loving arms. There is no sin too deep where his grace cannot reach. And while others stammer at this truth, while others are reluctant to scream it from the housetops, while some choke as they read it from God's Holy Writ, I want you to hear it from me.

God does not only love an elite few. No my friend. Rest assured: God loves you! God loves you! GOD LOVES YOU!!!

Your welcome! We are called unto the weak and suffering. My prayers go out to those who are plagued with besetting sins and are fighting the temptations of Satan. The gay movement is becoming bolder, as well as other forms of fleshly lusts. It has, possibly, overtaken an entire generation of young people and their parents.

Calling homosexuality, adultery and fornication sin can get you fined, jailed and ridiculed in our nation. I was recently in China where the government cracked down heavily on an internet pornography ring, and was waiting for the ACLU to show up pleading for "free speech" and "free press", but they were nowhere to be found.

America is exporting its evil, as well as its good to the rest of the world. What was once a great, moral nation has been slipping further into severe judgment.

We are all to blame for our sins individually and collectively. I don't look at the gay person with anything but sorrow as do I those caught up in adultery and fornication. We all have to fight against Satan and his demonic powers. His time is short, and he is going to cause as much damage as he can before the vial judgments begin.

The churches need to wake up!

The Anglican Church of Canada has voted to bless "same sex unions". They only won by two votes, which now should cause alot of division in the Anglican community.

Like Abigail, I also will be praying for you and my desire is that our loving Father will pour out His grace and mercy upon you sufficiently for you to be given the faith spoken of in the verses Abigail has referenced.

One very important thing to remember as you battle this sin and that gives you hope as you cry out to God for His grace and mercy to remove it from you, I leave you with the following:

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! ***In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter*** (2Cor.7:10-11).

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour (Jn.12:26).

Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD (Ps.105:3).

Thank you for answering my post.

I will continue to pray for you. We receive by faith. Faith is the key that unlocks all of the many wonderful treasures of God's promises.

"...nothing shall be impossible unto you." (Matt 17:20)

Jesus said. "And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." ((Mark 11:23)

Bravo, God can and desires to remove your mountain, but you must have faith.
I will pray for the Lord to take away your doubts and increase your faith.

Love in Christ Jesus

This might help you as you battle the flesh in your own life, as we all do to certain degrees.

According to an article written by C. Matthew McMahon, entitled, “Lust, Purity and the Christian Man”, the definition is,

“Triggers are those situations, objects, and stimuli that “trigger” the temptation. If Sampson would stay out of the prostitute’s bedroom, or David would not have acted as a peeping Tom from his balcony while Bathsheba was bathing, certain sins may have been avoided. Avoiding sin is a good thing, although not a remedy for the underlying heart problem.”

As you pray to overcome these desires, I would recommend the following:

Continue to actively seek marriage as not a means to overcome lust in the heart, but as an ordinary means for the preservation of chastity (1Cor.7:2), a holy ordinance instituted before the fall (Gen.2:24), a blessing for providing a helpmate (Gen.2:18) and for promoting a holy seed throughout the earth (Mal.2:15). Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the Lord (Prov.18:22).

You are suggesting that Bravo has the power to make the corruptible mortal old man's nature sinless. You should know that isn't possible. Paul said we are to reckon the old man D E A D and live and walk in the Spirit. He also said "I die daily" meaning our struggle with the infirmities of the flesh will not depart us in this life. Our weaknesses of the flesh will be with us as long as we live in this life and they serve a useful purpose to drive us to complete and unconditional child-like trust in the only One who can present us blameless before the righteous Judge.

Have another look at Paul's testimony in Romans 7:7-25. The only way to overcome in this life is to faithfully serve the law of God with the mind (heart)....

love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (Deut 6:5)

.... and trust that our Father will chasten us (Heb 12:3-11) when we wander from the narrow path in spite of our best feeble efforts to not stray and give in to the old man.

The thorns in our flesh keep us weak so He who abides in us is strong and our sole confidence.

It is my opinion that we are all born with a biological makeup of various genes from our parents...all the way back to Adam/Eve. Within this lineage we can find physical traits of our direct descendants, starting with our parents. We know that in the old testament the Lord cursed generations based upon their wickedness, and although each person will be judged for their own sin, it is Scriptural to believe that we are all not made with a perfect, sinless body or nature.

The Scripture is clear that homosexual behavior (e.g., man with man or women with women) is a sin and that our lusts draw us toward sin. The lust of the flesh effects each of us in different ways, and overcoming our own bosom sin or besetting sin is the most difficult.

The tendency for homosexual desires is equally as difficult for people who are engaged in fornication and adultery. Some studies show even Pastors have a high degree of fornication with pornography, some have homosexual desires and even are engaged in adultery. The tendency to sin against God is by our nature, and my hope is that all of us can overcome these temptations through study of the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Here’s what says:
1.the act of tempting; enticement or allurement
2.something that tempts, entices or allures.
3.the fact or state of being tempted, esp. to evil

Temptation only has any meaning if it has some appeal. I’m not tempted by drugs like some are because to me they are not the least bit appealing. Jesus may be a special case as the Son of God, but the rest of us experience temptation as desire. Stop playing word games.

Lurker and Abigail

Thanks for the encouragement. Abigail, I have a friend who was in a car accident as a young teen and has been a paraplegic ever since. Does God desire to restore her? I think so. Is he able? Absolutely! Has he chosen to do so? No. Miracles are wonderful but they are not common. I think we see that with folks like my friend, but with homosexuality for some reason we think God will always make the sincere believer straight. I’ve just not seen God work like that in the lives of others in my situation. What do you think?

Thank you for your prayers!

People, please note that I never used the word "temptation" in my post, I used the word "desire".
Jesus was tempted by the Devil, the devil tried to get Jesus to bow down to him, JESUS DID NOT "DESIRE" TO BOW DOWN, that would of been a sin.
Sinful 'desire' is a SIN, not a temptation.

Homoesexual desire is not a temptation, it is a SINFUL DESIRE. There is a big difference folks.

An added word of encouragement. Shawn is wrong to say temptation is sin. He needs to remember Jesus was tempted after His baptism by JB yet overcome the temptor. I don't think anyone will charge Jesus with sin while in the mortal state.

Also, remember Paul's situation; he begged God three times to remove the thorn in his flesh.... What did God answer? In your weakness I am strong... my grace is sufficient.

Praise God for granting you sufficient grace to overcome your thorn.

I have been reading your posts, and I believe you are sincere and truthful in what you say. I am praying for you.

You have stated many times that you have begged God to change you. Do you believe that God is able and willing to change you? I can assure you that that He is.

Jesus said that if any two agree on earth as touching any thing that they ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. (Matt 18:10)

If you believe this Word of God, and will agree with me concerning a change in you, the promise is for you.

Distance is no object with God. He hears prayers from all over the world.

In the love of Christ Abigail

For God's sake do you people even read my comments?! I do not believe God made me gay. I don't think God had anything to do with it at all! Yes I do believe that for many people their same-sex attraction is primarily (though maybe not exclusively) based on their biology. However, I believe God is no more responsible for people being born gay than he is responsible for people being born without limbs. Am I being unclear on this point? I think there are plenty of things that occur in the natural biological world that God does not directly cause (birth defects, etc.). Why is that point so hard to communicate?

There’s lots of evidence to suggest that romantic attraction is based on our genes as well as our exposure to maternal hormones and hormones produced by the embryo in the pre-natal environment. If that is true it means gay people don’t choose to be attracted to the same-sex, though we do have choices over what we do with our bodies.

Bravo believes that homosexuality is a sin. His error is in that he believes that God created him that way.
