Christian 'Origins' Expert Promotes Evolution
One of the world’s most prominent Christian Darwinians spoke at two Texas universities this week, making a case for both evolution and theology.

Dr. Simon Conway Morris, a British paleontologist and professor of evolutionary paleobiology at Cambridge University, addressed faculty and students at Texas A&M and Baylor University on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, while visiting the state to receive the world-renowned Trotter Prize.

"There is no reason an evolutionary biologist could not subscribe to something transcendent," explained Morris to the Baylor Lariat, Baylor University’s student newspaper. "It would be a mistake to assume that all scientists are materialists, and they are not." ...

A "Christian evolutionist" is the same thing as a square circle or a round triangle! You can put the two words together but they are nonsense. A true Christian is to strive to bring every thought into captivity to Christ. (2 Cor. 10:5) Christ clearly teaches when man was created: "But from the beginning of creation God made them male and female." Mark 10:6 True Christians listen to the Lord, Who is the Truth, and not the father of lies!

This guy is not even a Christian, why is he treated as such? It is time for God's people to be discerning.

I'm still having a hard time with a 'Christian' anything; denying that God 'intelligently designed and created', well... the creation.

"Since we have the Spirit, and are in the flesh, why is it a false teaching that the two natures war?"

This statement is NOT a false statement!(see Romans 7) It is the flesh Christ hung on the cross, having put it under submission. Think back to Moses lifting up the serpent in the wilderness...
that which was tormenting the people (the serpents) was hung on a pole, and all who looked opon it were healed. It is the flesh that torments us.

It is not as much a matter of which is more powerful, but a matter of which do we obey. flesh = the animal part of us, Spirit = the God part of us. And yes, they do war.

Mike from NY,

Sorry I am off topic. Will repeat ques from last night.

"Since we have the Spirit, and are in the flesh, why is it a false teaching that the two natures war?"

The Trinitarian Bible Society in Article No.74 on the New International Version points out that the NIV consistently uses the words "sinful nature" as it translates the Greek word "sarx", for "flesh" in the KJV (1611).

The article says "This reflects the two-nature view held by some Christian groups, that there is a constant battle between the 'white dog and black dog' as it is commonly referred to in the U.S.A. that figuratively inhabit the soul: that there is a constant battle between the Adamic nature, which they believe remains unchanged after a man is saved, and the new nature which now shares the saved man's soul.

This battle is being won by whichever 'dog' - whichever nature, the new or the Adamic - that the Christian 'feeds'. This is an "interpretation".

The KJV says "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." Gal.5:16

The words "sinful nature" put a certain interpretation on it which is not there in the original word "sarx" and in the KJV word "flesh".

Two dogs sound equal, but the Spirit is infinitely stronger the flesh.

Wayne/BC,

You asked me: "Can we agree that the word "flesh" in the KJV is a better word than "sinful nature" as the NIV uses? Gal. 5:16 is one example, but there are a number of places where they use sinful nature"

I'm not sure why you are asking the question. I only had one other comment here, and I don't see a connection.

Mike from NY,

Can we agree that the word "flesh" in the KJV is a better word than "sinful nature" as the NIV uses? Gal. 5:16 is one example, but there are a number of places where they use sinful nature.

As I said sinful nature is an interpretation of the Greek word sarx which means flesh and changes the meaning in many places.

faithful remnant,
Thank-you, for being steadfast in the fight for Biblical truth.
I agree wholeheartedly with you about science falsely so-called! No where are we lead to believe that the Genesis creation account is not to be taken in its "natural" meaning.
Most evolutionists want nothing to do with theism let alone Jesus Christ. The main reason is they then would have to acknowledge their sin condition. Did you notice at the conclusion of the article what the content was in regards to what he stated: "all that really matters"? There was the incarnation, the teachings of Jesus and the resurrection. Hm,m,m,m,m,m, guess what is missing? As could be expected the cross. Many churches are even beginning to mention the topic of sin less seldom with each passing year. With the onset of the popular seeker-sensitive theology the slide is swift. Be not offensive. Keep the faith! Job 1:8

Article: "Christian 'Origins' Expert Promotes Evolution"

There are a lot of "experts" drifting around the world spreading their gospels, but that doesn't make them correct just because they are labeled as experts by the media "authorities." The Bible has the answer for human origins, plain and simple: "In the beginning, God created..."

Article: "One of the world’s most prominent Christian Darwinians spoke at two Texas universities this week, making a case for both evolution and theology."

So the Bible isn't sufficient for him as is evidenced by this: Christian Darwinian. So one can follow Christ and Darwin? I'll stick with Christ and His word, because "If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." So this expert is really rather dimly lit if he's even enlightened at all because he chooses to follow a man in the grave(Darwin).

"both evolution and theology."

The Bible says you cannot partake of the Lord's table and the devil's table. Evolution and theology cannot be combined in any morally sound fashion. Evolution has not been standardized and conflicts with itself so it's still among what the Apostles call science falsely so-called.
