LONDON (AFP) - In a move risking the wrath of traditionalists, the Church of England has backed greater legal rights for large numbers of unmarried couples, particularly if children are involved.
The church said it was "sympathetic" to the reform of legislation in such circumstances and to more limited reform in cases not involving children where there is a risk of unfair treatment.
The suggestions come in response to proposals from the Law Commission, an independent body which reviews and recommends legislation in England and Wales, to allow unmarried couples a share of each other's wealth after a break-up....
