Group demands Da Vinci disclaimer

Tom Hanks stars in The Da Vinci Code film

Catholic group Opus Dei has asked for a disclaimer to be placed on the film of The Da Vinci Code, released next month.

The organisation said it had written to Sony Pictures executives in Japan to ask the studio to emphasise that the film was a work of fantasy.

Based on Dan Brown's novel, The Da Vinci Code claims Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene and had children, which was covered up by the Catholic Church.

Sony has said it is not a religious film, and is not meant to criticise. ...

This illustrates the impotence of their conviction to faith and it's impact and authority, both in the church and in the human condition.

This is tanatamount to pandering to the iniquitous principalities of darkness, and granting to them a greater influence amongst the people to be evangelised.

This in a word is popish faith.

Very correct, Arthur, but Opus Dei, is a little worse than you picture. I would suggest that users of this forum go to the Ian Paisley site,

http://www.ianpaisley.org/main.asp

and look up Opus Dei.

The BBC doesn't even pain a very flattering picture of it,

As a group they are no more to be trusted than the Jesuits, another interesting group to look up on the Ian Paisley site.

"The organisation said it had written to Sony Pictures executives in Japan to ask the studio to emphasise that the film was a work of fantasy."

Opus Dei are probably trying to prevent any conflict with their own ficticious works of fantasy, saints, relics, dogmas, etc.
The poor folks will recognise the movie as competing for the minds of the gullible who follow them.
Why else would Opus Dei make a request such as this on a work of fiction.?
