Anglican Canon blasts "New Look Services"
A TOP cleric at York Minster has delivered a fierce attack on new look and modern language church services.

The swipe by Canon Glyn Webster appears only days after the exuberant installation in the cathedral of the new Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, which featured bare-chested African dancing and drum-playing.

Traditionalist Canon Webster's attack was written before the installation and appears in the 2006 edition of the Church of England Year Book.

Rev John Hartley of St Luke's Church, Eccleshill, in Bradford, is a "moderniser" well known for adapting popular music for hymns. His latest offering is a version of the Doors classic Light My Fire, while previous hits include a version of the Star Wars theme and Match of the Day. ...

I believe it is a common problem among many churches. I checked out an "evangelical" church here a year ago that had electric guitars, drums, and singers. The lead singer looked like the part with long hair and a beard, but I did not feel comfortable about any of it. It felt more like a concert than a church service. The preaching was almost non-existent. I cannot see how one can worship in spirit and in truth or grow spiritually in such a church.

Arthur,
What will happen to you there? You'd better keep wearing the kilt and playing those bagpipes .

Canon Webster should realise that the indigenous English, Scots and Welsh and their inherrent cultures and religion is fast disappearing from British shores.

A recent article pointed to the fact that the generation that came from the baby boom in the 50/60's, is not breeding in sufficient numbers, and it's too late for them anyway. Subsequent generations reduce the indigenous population even further.

The philosophies, attitudes and religions of eastern and southern countries invade and take over.
The mindless politically correct attitude of the politicians and many in society, are allowing the takeover.

The combination of these effects will remove this nation and it's spiritual and moral standards. Ultimately during this century the original country will cease to exist.

Thats what happens to Sodom and Gomorrah when you establish it.

I'm all for keeping traditional services. I think this guy is justified for his protests.
