Major Church in Australia Okays Homosexual Ministers

In a landmark vote, the Uniting Church has become the first Australian denomination to openly allow practicing homosexuals to become ministers.
It has been on the Uniting Church's agenda for a number of years, but at today's gathered assembly in Melbourne, the church's ruling body voted for change.
The majority of the 260 delegates voted in support of the proposal to allow to allow practicing gays and lesbians to be ordained.
Those who opposed the move warn the church could split over the issue.
