Britain Considers Ban on Southeast Asian Islamic Group
British Prime Minister Tony Blair says he is considering banning the Jemaah Islamiyah group from Britain. The group is suspected by some of involvement in the weekend bomb blast in Indonesia.
Although the group has no known link with Britain, Mr. Blair told parliament Tuesday that his government may prohibit it under the country's Terrorism Act. He says the government is assessing evidence against the group.
The bombing in Bali Saturday left as many as 30 Britons dead.
The Jemaah Islamiyah group is one of several suspected of links to al-Qaida in Southeast Asia.
