Bomb Squad Detonates Suspicious Package on Florida Highway
NAPLES, Fla. — A bomb squad detonated a suspicious package early Friday morning in a car along Florida's Alligator Alley after an all-night search for two vehicles thought to be involved in possible terrorist activity.
Three people in two cars were detained after a possible terrorist threat, police said. Bomb squad personnel were surrounding both cars as the investigation continued.
Police in Florida and Georgia searched overnight for the two vehicles after a waitress in Calhoun, Ga., in the northwestern part of that state, told police she overheard three men of Middle Eastern or Hispanic descent discussing terrorist plans Wednesday night.
