there are, as you know, four Gospels. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. And there are only two miracles mentioned in all four Gospels. Only two. So those miracles mentioned by all the evangelists four times, they must be very, very important, right? Mentioned by all four of them. You're supposed to read them over and over and over. And the one miracle that is mentioned four times is the miracle of the resurrection of Christ. So you'd say, of course. Of course, that's four times mentioned. That's no wonder. That's so crucial. What is the other miracle mentioned four times? It's the feeding of the 5,000. And all the apostles mentioned, so it's different details, but important. So it pleases the Lord to really draw attention to that special miracle of the Lord Jesus being filled with compassion, looking at the multitude and giving them to eat, Enough so that even baskets, 12 baskets are left over. That is an important, a very, very, very important miracle. So that's the text for this evening. You can find it in Matthew 6, verses 34 through 42. Let me only read verse 37, and then only the beginning of it. Mark 6, verse 37a. He answered and said unto them, give ye them to eat. So far, the Savior commanding the disciples to feed the crowd. So you heard the four points already, didn't you? The Savior commanding the disciples to feed the crowd. The Compassionate Savior, we'll begin with that. Verse 34. In verse 34 we see the Compassionate Savior. And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people and was moved with compassion towards them because they were as a sheep not having a shepherd. Secondly, concerned disciples. Verse 35 and 36, and when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him and said, this is a desert place and now the time is far past. Send them away that they may go into the country roundabout and into the villages and buy themselves bread for they have nothing to eat. In the third place, Jesus' command. The first is 37 through 39. He answered and said unto them, give ye them to eat. And more commands connect to that. And in the fourth place, an abundance of food. The theme was the Savior commanding the disciples to feed the crowd, right? So the fourth is an abundance of food, first 40 through 42. the Savior commanded the disciples to feed a crowd, the compassion of the Savior, concerned disciples, Jesus's command, and an abundance of food. Let's go back to verse seven of this chapter. And he called unto him the twelve and began to send them forth by two and two. send them four by two and two and gave them power over unclean spirits. The Lord Jesus said to the twelve apostles, disciples, let us make six groups of couples and you go on house visitation, something like that, two by two. Calvin used that text as one of the reasons why he said, house visitations should be done by two people. Like Lord Jesus sent out the disciples two by two. So they went. And they were able to do miracles. And they spoke to the people. They preached the word of God. They're kind of ministers. And then at a certain time they came back. So let us jump now to verse 30 in this chapter. And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. So the disciples had been sent out two by two, had done miracles, and spoke to the people, and now they are around the Lord Jesus, all those 12 men standing around the Lord Jesus, and Lord Jesus said, what did you do? What did you talk about? And they reported, and they said, the one said, I was able to heal a blind man, and someone else was paralyzed, and I spoke on this subject. And they were debriefing and telling the Lord Jesus what they had been doing and what they had been teaching. And of course, that had been a very busy time. So the Lord Jesus looked at those men, And he said, in verse 31, come ye yourselves apart into a desert place and rest a while. For there are many coming and going and they had no leisure so much as to eat. So the Lord Jesus said, you need rest. You need a few days off. You can't continue on like this, this is too busy. You don't even have the time to eat. people are coming and going, it's too much. So let's go to a desert place, to a lonely place, not with sand and desert. A desert place means a lonely place. Because Lord Jesus realized that those disciples were human, not angels. and he himself had a human nature as well. So the Lord Jesus was leaving and he was talking about all that and said to the disciples, let's take the boat and let's go to the other side of the lake and rest a while. Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, rest a while for there were many coming and going and they had no leisure, no time, so much as to eat and they departed. So I see the ship with those 13 people leaving the shore, and some people looking and say, they're leaving. I don't like that. Where are they going? I think I know where they're going. They're probably going to Berseda, to the other side. And some start running. Some start running. That's a 10-mile run, where you go over the shore, 10 mile. And if you go by boat, it's four or so. But they tried to be ahead of him because they would like to meet with them. Well, for some that may have been successful, maybe some were there before, but most of the crowd did not make it on time. And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot, thither out of all cities, and out went them. Out went them. So, I mean, at first, out went him. Because in the gospel according to John, they read that the Lord Jesus was already on the hill in Bethsaida, and that the people came later. So it cannot mean that the people are already in that place. but maybe part of them, some of them. And Jesus, when he came out, saw most people. So 34, Jesus came out, cannot possibly mean that the Lord Jesus came out of the boat and saw the people, because they were not there yet, according to John. So Jesus, when he came out, must mean that he was on the mountain and hiding, a little behind a rock or something, in a cave, and people were arriving, and then he came out. Then he revealed himself. He wanted to talk to them and see them. So Jesus, when he came out on that mountain and revealed himself, saw much people. How many? Well, we know from this chapter that this 5,000 men, I mean men, without the women and the children, 5,000. So if there were also 5,000 women, it's already 10,000. And if you have an average of three children, it's 25,000. I don't know, a large crowd, thousands, thousands, 10,000s of people. And Jesus, when he saw, when he came out, saw much people. And they did something. He saw them. He really saw them. And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people. He was compassionate. He saw much people and was moved with compassion. a look at that word. Moved with compassion is one word in Greek. Splach nitzomai. And in that word is something like your bowels, your gut, your stomach, your feeling, your womb, something inside being moved Inwardly move with compassion towards them. Now, were all those 20, 25, or how many thousands, were they all converted or so? Were they all God's people? Nobody will say that. I haven't heard anyone saying that. That they're all converted people. Why would they? They're just curious. They want to know. They want to see. They are interested, but not converted. And the Lord Jesus saw them, and he was moved with compassion in his common grace. Moved with compassion. He felt for them. There was something inside the Lord Jesus that moved him. A holy pity. a certain appreciation. It's our soul for eternity. So, let me insert this. Do you recognize that? Do you sometimes have that when you're on Hastings Street? Or in downtown Chilliwack? Or you see your class as a teacher? Or you see the multitude in church? Or you just realize that many are listening over the internet? How much of that do we have? That we are moved with compassion, seeing the multitude, realizing that they are all of a soul for eternity. that they all must move on to their destination, that they can stay here, that something needs to happen, that they must be born again, that they need to repent, that they need to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they are lost by nature, that something needs to change. And how much do we care? Fathers, mothers, if you may have children, Do you sometimes bow your knees and you have that compassion in your heart? Lord, I want them all to be saved. I want them all to serve thee and that you talk to them also about that and you pray for them because you have something of that being moved with compassion. And you know, a teacher can teach whatever subject. Math, biology, science, history, social studies. But we need the capability for that. But especially to see that young friend in front of you. And to feel that there's a person with a soul for eternity. And that that person also will someday go to his or her eternal destiny. And then to feel that and to care to truly care for body and soul for this life and the life after this life. And Jesus and he came out so much people and was moved with compassion. So do you think the Lord Jesus has changed? Of course not. So then that means then that today, from heaven, he sees us. And he's moved with compassion. Not all saved, but moved with compassion. So the Lord Jesus moved with compassion with the multitude, although he had said to his disciples, rest a while. He didn't say to the disciples, never rest, never rest, just go on and on and on and on because you should have compassion. No, he said he had compassion himself. At the same time, he also took a rest and was by himself. So there was a balance between compassion and doing things and talking and also taking time for himself. And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people and was moved with compassion. Bowels of mercy. His heart went out to them. They were as sheep, because they were as sheep, not having a shepherd. You know, there are mountain sheep, right? And mountain goats. They can climb, they can come to places where no cougar can come. But they will fall down, and they can just climb up. But domestic sheep, domesticated sheep, they are vulnerable. You turn them on the back and they can't come back anymore and they are very dependent. They die without a shepherd. So the Lord Jesus looked at those people as sheep not having a shepherd. No direction. They're starving. They don't know the way. They're ignorant, foolish, dumb. No shepherd. He was the shepherd, but he looked at them and they were without the shepherd. So the shepherd was moved with compassion about the multitude without the shepherd. And he began to teach them many things there on that mountain. He began to teach them many things. And those thousands of people listening to Lord Jesus, kind of in a loud voice and echoing against the hills, he was able to make himself understandable. And he spoke, he began to teach them many things. He spoke about regeneration and sin and grace and the attitudes and I don't know. Lord Jesus began to teach many things and they heard him preach. compassion, touched with the feelings of our infirmities. Lord Jesus is like that. He knows us, and does the Lord Jesus view you also as a sheep without a shepherd? Do we sometimes see that in our children, a sheep without a shepherd? Do we see that in town? Do we see that for ourselves? The sheep without the shepherd. And he taught them many things. And all what he taught them would testify against them in the day of judgment if they did not take heed. So that was the first thought, a compassionate savior. Let's go to the second thought. Concerned disciples, 35 and 36. So the Lord Jesus, teaching them many things, and when the day was now fast spent, it was four o'clock at night, in the afternoon, or five, I don't know. His disciples came unto him and said, this is a desert place. There was green grass. but it was a desert place. Desert meaning, as I said before, a lonely place. It was springtime, green grass. When the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him and said, this is a desert place, and now the time is far past, send them away, that they may go into the country round about and into the villages and buy themselves bread, for they have nothing to eat. You know, that is not good, is it? Listen to that. They were concerned. This is a desert place. They don't have anything to eat. Send them away. Send them away. Did I say that before? Did I say to that Canaanite, this woman who was concerned about her daughter, vexed by a spirit, by a devil, Let her go. Let her go. Send her away. And Lord Jesus, he did not send her away. And did the disciples not speak also to those people, parents and others who brought children to the Lord Jesus? Send them away. Don't suffer the Lord Jesus to do this. So I think that it's probably very foolish to say that, send them away. They should have said, Lord Jesus, we don't have to send them away, because they aren't able to provide. Because Lord Jesus had provided before, when at the wedding of Cana and Galilee, there was not enough wine. And he asked the water parts to be filled up to the brim. Abundance also. And the water became wine. So could the Lord Jesus not also make bread in the desert? Was there not also manna in the wilderness? Did he have so little expectation? I mean, the disciples? Did the disciples have so little expectation of the Lord Jesus that he could not do that? Send them away that they may go into the country round about for they have nothing to eat. Concerned. They should have had more expectation. They should have paid attention to knock, and thou shalt be opened, and you ask, and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. So where is the insight? Where is the love? Where is the compassion of those disciples? It's not a shame? The Lord Jesus, filled with compassion with the multitude, and those disciples, send them away! It's the opposite. The Lord Jesus is teaching them, and the disciples say, it's enough now. You know, that is so often the case, even with office bearers, even with ministers. Must put a hand in their bosom and say, Lord. What a type of a minister I am. So little expectation. Give me more of that love, of that compassion, also of that zeal and that trusting that the Lord will do it and that the Lord can provide and that he will provide. He has promised all that the world will not return in vain. Send them away into a desert place. Fishes are men, right? Lord Jesus had said to them, I will make you fishes are men. I don't see it right now. Send them away. The Lord Jesus never sent anyone away. But let's go to the third thought, verse 37. Jesus' command. And he answered, answering means responding, he answered and said unto them, give ye them to eat. Give ye them to eat. Serious? So the Lord Jesus is telling the disciples to not send them away, to keep them here, and he says, you better give them something to eat. They don't have anything. And even if they would have 200 pence worth, even if they would have 200 denarii, that's absolutely not enough to feed a crowd of this size of 20, 50, 25,000 people. That's absolutely insufficient. So what is that? Give ye them to eat. That's impossible. That's strange. That's absurd. something they hardly can take seriously. But that's the command. The Lord Jesus says, give him to eat. And in a very different sense, but it's also symbolic. That's true for ministers as well, right? Give yidam to eat. I don't have anything. I have maybe a few loaves of bread and two fish, but how can I feed such a flock? Give them to eat. Well, if you feel your incapability as a teacher, give yidam to eat. But if you can't do it as a parent, as a mother, as a father, give them to eat. Just do it. Do something. teach something, guide somehow, give direction, send them away? No. He answered, give ye them to eat, and they shall, and they say unto him, shall we go and buy 200 penny worth of bread and give them to eat? That's probably ironic. That's laughable. That's absurd. That's something he can do. That command. And he saith unto them, how many loaves have ye? And from the other gospels we know that there was a lad, was a boy, and he had five loaves and two fish. Think about that. It's just a crowd of people. It was one boy, and he had five loaves on him. Why did his mother, Put that in his backpack or in his lunchbox. Five loaves. What do you need to do with five loaves and two fish? Well, those loaves are not loaves like our loaves. They're actually very small, like cakes, like biscuits. So he had five little biscuits with him and two fish. Crackers, we would say. Crackers with fish. So that is absolutely insufficient. That is hardly enough for a boy. And are you going to take away that lunch of that boy and just give it to everyone a crumb? Shall we go and buy 200 penny worth of bread and give them to eat? He said unto them, how many loaves have ye? Go and see. And when they knew from that lad, they say five and two fishes. So the Lord Jesus commanded to give him to eat. And he commanded them, verse 39, again command, verse 39, and he commanded them to make all sit down by company upon the green grass. So green grass in the hill. on the north side of the lake of Galilee, on a spring afternoon, I see thousands and thousands of people neatly seated in rows or in blocks, 50, 50, 100, 50. It looks like a COVID-19 situation by 50s, by 100. They organized in their aisles. And there is no contact between those. And the disciples, they are organizing this. And they sat down in ranks by hundreds and by fifties, in verse 40. So the Lord Jesus commanded that. And they sat down in ranks, and when they had taken the loaves, and he had taken the loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven and blessed and break the loaves. So do you see it happening? See those thousands of people sitting there in that beautiful day. All those different colors of clothing and so neatly organized and Lord Jesus standing there and the first thing he did was to look up to heaven and to thank his father. To acknowledge his father as he did at the grave of Lazarus. The Lord Jesus is giving thanks. He's the high priest. He doesn't only pray, he also renders thanks to his Father. Where is our thankfulness? He meant it for every meal. He blessed. He did not infuse the meal with a blessing. That is not what it means. He blessed. It's not so that the food became different or something. You know, when you ask a blessing for the meal, that actually does not mean that you ask that the meal changes or will benefit you or something. No, it is actually to acknowledge. to say grace, to bless, the word to bless here means to be thankful, to acknowledge the Lord. So the Lord Jesus looked up to heaven and blessed And he broke the loaves, and gave them to his disciples, and set to set before them, and the two fishes divided. He did not break the fishes, he divided. He broke the bread, divided the fishes, among them all. So the Lord Jesus broke the bread and he just, he kept breaking the bread. And those baskets were filled. And they were sharing with the people. And the Lord Jesus did a wonder, a huge miracle. And hundreds and thousands of people were eating bread that was never baked. They ate bread that was never wheat before. They were eating bread that was never grained before. They ate fish that was never caught before. This is a huge miracle. Four times mentioned in the Gospels. Probably on the mind of many of them for years. They're impressed. So see what's happening. The Lord Jesus said, give them to eat. And he gave them to eat. He said, do it. And he did it. So the Lord says to the ministers, give them to eat. And I have nothing. But under the preaching, the Lord can give it. And also with teaching. Also teaching Bible, and not only teaching Bible, also saying something good in between other subjects. You say, Lord, I don't know how to say it and what to say, and the Lord can give it. And to fathers and mothers, the Lord says, teach them in the four-set doctrine to your utmost. Don't only let the teachers talk to them, you talk yourself to them. Give them to eat. at catechism classes. It's not about the doctrine only. Doctrine is important as well, of course. But mainly this, give them to eat. See those young people in the pews, in the chairs, as humans for eternity. Give them tea there without a shepherd. They need forgiveness. They need direction. They need to be made a sheep of the shepherd. Isn't that encouraging? The Lord says, give them to eat. And you think, how do I do that? I can't, for some reason. I don't have enough. I have no ability. I can't talk about those things. I'm shy. I can't verbalize it. I can't talk about my feelings. Whatever excuse you have, give them to eat. Talk about those things anyway. and pray about with the help of the Lord that the Lord will multiply your words and give you the words in your mouth and help you. Having expectation of the Lord. So, compassionate Savior, concerned disciples, Jesus' command. And we read in John 6, or rather Matthew 15, but Jesus said unto them, they need not depart. Give ye them to eat. See that's a little more worthy. They need not depart. So you are willing to send away? No, they don't need to leave. Give ye them to eat. May the Lord give that urgency. May we feel the impossibility. May we trust the Lord also today. The teachers, the board, the consistory, the catechism classes, the preacher, the house visitation, office bearers, to do the work as a mother, as a father, as an uncle, as an aunt, as a single person. The Lord is willing to help and we should be faithful. And keep in mind, the Lord is your God of order. You see that? I was sitting in St. Lawrence, and they were obedient. They said, okay. They just followed the advice and said, you sit there, you sit there. They had assigned seating. And they just were so cooperative. God is a God of order, of harmony, of rules. That's good for people. That's also good in school, law and order in school, church society. We don't believe in anarchism and in people just being overly critical, but respecting and yet in open communication with the church and the school. And then in the fourth place, the abundance of food. the abundance, verse 42. And they did all eat and were filled. And they took up 12 baskets full of the fragments and of the fishes. And they that did eat of the loaves were about 5,000 men. See that? And they did all eat and were filled. I read in John 6, 11 that they could eat as much as they would. They're being filled, sometimes translated as gorging. So I see those people eating and eating. May I have another piece? Oh, sure. There's lots. There's enough. There's plenty over. Do you need another piece of fish? Another biscuit? Another loaf? Another part of it? And the people were surprised. That was so much, such an abundance for so many people, for 25,000 or 15,000 people, lots, just from five loaves and two fish. That's a capstone miracle. That's a miracle that involves many people and that emphasizes a theme in the miracles of Lord Jesus. and a theme in the attributes of God, plenteous of mercy. See that? Those water pots at the wedding of Cain and Galilee were filled up to the brim, up to the brim. You see those water pots? Up to the brim. They can't contain more. And all this water, that completely filled vessel became wine, so full. And also here, 12 baskets for over, 12 baskets, because the Lord is doing things very precisely, very measured, not too much, but 12 apostles, 12 tribes, 12 baskets, on purpose. And nothing had to go to waste, no loitering, no littering. So I thought of Psalm 51. I like Psalm 51, especially the first verses. Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him that he had gone in unto Bathsheba, have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness, according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies. And that's the same thing. Tender mercies is the same word, very, very, very close to the New Testament, moved with compassion. So tender heart, tender mercies, blotting out transgressions, because there's plenties of mercy for thou, Lord, are good and ready to forgive and plenties of mercy unto all them that call upon thee. So it's overwhelming, sufficiency of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. Nobody can say it was not enough. Right? That's the meaning. It was sufficient for all of them. Or think of Psalm 137, let Israel hope in the Lord. For with the Lord is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. Now some people are so thrilled by that. For some that is not this doctrine, but a lie. Why? They have such plenty sins, so many sins, such a multitude of sins, such mountains before them, They say, I really need a lot. I need a lot of forgiveness. Not just a little bit. I need plenty of mercy. I need really tender compassion. I need more than just for a regular person needs. I'm the chief of the sinners. So, is that your frame tonight? Do you think, yeah, there's salvation, but is it for me? It's preached unto you today. Though Jesus is compassionate, seeing the multitude of unconverted people having, being sheep without a shepherd, was he compassionate or not? Did he teach them or not? Did he mean it or not? Did He show the multitude of His mercies, yes or no? We also read in Malachi 3, Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith. Say, the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3 verse 10. If I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall be no room enough to receive it. That's who God is. So you may bow your knees and plead on that. and say, Lord, for my daily life, for my tasks, for my calling, for my office, for my teacher job, calling rather, I need thy help, but also personally. Or think of Joel 2 verse 24, and the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. So there is enough, and through that the people were filled and satisfied as with marrow. Filled, having enough. Sometimes the Church of God is so overwhelmed with the insight of what sin is, and sometimes they see with such clear eyes the abundance of mercy. that they are filled with it and satisfied with the image of God. So young friends and children, maybe listening also at home, the service of the Lord is good service. The Lord time and again shows what type of master he is, and that he is willing to forgive, and there is so much in his hands, and that he is not reluctant to give it, but that we are reluctant to receive it. That's the problem. Oh, that stubbornness. that unwillingness, that preferring the world over God, the seeking satisfaction in the things of this life and world over God. That's the problem. And even the Lord can even change that. So, the Savior commanding the disciples to feed the crowd, a compassionate Savior, concerned disciples, Jesus' command, and a bunch of food, and now a short application. First we sing. So congregation, as you have seen, the Lord reigneth. It's all in his hands. And he orders the whole universe to cooperate. And with perfect precision, he gives enough breath and even 12 baskets fall. Those miracles are pictures of a deeper reality. We've touched on that already, but now more systematically in the application. I see those people as hungry people. They don't have anything to eat. It's late in the afternoon and you're getting hungry. Isn't that a picture of what we are like? Not enough to eat. And people starving. Maybe not feeling hungry per se, but the starving people, the dying people, the people without The future, I'm sure. Because in John 9, we read about the man who was born blind, was healed. And the Lord Jesus made the application of people that are spiritually blind. It's connected to the miracle. And in John 6, you see the same thing. That this miracle is connected to the Lord Jesus being the bread, himself. So three months before his death, he did this miracle. Three months before his death. So when he broke the bread and shared it with the people, he was thinking, of course he was thinking about his own body. He was thinking about the bread. John 6, I will read you a few verses. Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth, that prophet, that should come into the world. When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. And the day following, when the people stood on the other side of the sea, saw that there was none other boat there, save that one wherein to his disciples entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples to the boat, but that his disciples had gone away alone, he said, this is the bread which is coming down from heaven. Let the man eat thereof and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever. And the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. So the Lord Jesus, breaking the bread, Reminds us already of the Lord's Supper kind of. I'm longing for that time. We can have the Lord's Supper again. In an orderly fashion. And as soon as we see a possibility to do that orderly, that we can have enough people in church, then we'll also begin that again. Pray for that. But Lord Jesus is kind of exemplifying that here, breaking the bread. And his own body is broken. He is the bread. He is that manna. So that's why I read in Psalm 36, they shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house. And thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. Not just a tickle, not a few drops, but a river of thy pleasures. Through that breath, through that believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, the being satisfied with him, my soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips. So this miracle, like all other miracles, has also a deeper layer, a deeper meaning, a spiritual meaning of spiritual hunger and being fed with spiritual bread. But more. Not only general compassion and also this meaning of forgiveness, it's also a picture of the future. All miracles are. Miracles are miracles of the kingdom. Miracles of the kingdom of God. Meaning there will be a time that nobody will hunger. Nobody will thirst. Nobody will be sick. Nobody will be blind. Nobody will be concerned. We see a picture of that here. Of the time of satisfaction, of true happiness, of rivers of pleasure evermore. Think of that. Think of where you would like to go. and your children, and your pupils, and the students, and the people you are working with, and yourself. Don't forget yourself. Think about it. Well, that will be to be satisfied with the image of God and to always be with him. The 12 disciples are standing around the Lord Jesus, have fellowship with him. One was Judas, I know. But you know, yet in excel of the church surrounding the Lord Jesus. One more thing. As I said, this place where the Lord Jesus was, was Bethsaida. One of the evangelists makes it clear. And the Lord Jesus spoke to them. Spoke to Chorazin and Bethsaida. And probably mainly because of this miracle. At least this miracle had a huge influence on the people of Bethsaida because they said, we have eaten that fish and we have eaten that bread that he shared. Luke 10 verse 13. Woe unto thee, Chorazin! Woe unto thee, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done In Tyre and Sidon, Gentile cities, which have been done in youth, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. So that miracle also testified against the people. Because even Tyre and Sidon would have had repented if something like this would have been given to them, but they did not get it. and the people of Israel received it and yet did not repent, many didn't. Now, think about it for yourself. You've heard so often from the scriptures, so often you've heard about Lord Jesus being a shepherd and looking at the sheep and being moved with compassion. You've heard about the season of sin and being just starving soul and eternity. But hell will be worse for us if we have not repented than for the Gentiles. It will be a harder place for us. So think about it as well. But mainly, may you remember this sermon. I hope you remember this sermon because of the Lord Jesus saying, give ye them to eat. Over the responsibility that you feel so incapable of, but he can help you and make it well. Also the future of this new season. Amen.
