I'd like you to take your Bibles and turn to Colossians chapter 3 verse 15 to verse 70. That is Colossians chapter 3 verse 15. Shall we all stand as we honor God by the reading of his word Colossians chapter 3 and verse 15. It says, let the peace of God rule in your hearts to the which also ye are called in one body and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another, in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord, and whatsoever ye do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. And may the Lord bless the reading of his word as we send our thoughts and our praise all to the glory of God. Shall we look to God in a word of prayer? Heavenly Father, we pray that your glory may be revealed to us as never before. Open the eyes of the blind among us. Grant us holy boldness to speak of your glory. Bless us with peace in this troubled world. Save some lost soul today. Anoint my lips. In Jesus' name, amen. You may be seated. All to the glory of God. Life is full of difficulties and challenges, especially as Christians. Our desire to follow God's plan for our lives sometimes go directly against what our culture tells us to do. Living according to God's way can sometimes be difficult because of various temptations that may cause us to get distracted because there are so many distractions in this world that we now call attraction. As a result, many people struggle to consistently give God the glory that is due to him in all aspect of their personal lives, relationship, and activities. 1 Corinthians 10 and 13, Paul acknowledges that We all experience temptations, but does not promise that all of our temptations will be easily overcome. He also says that God promises to be faithful, to help us through whatever temptations we are facing. God will provide a way of escape to every temptation that we face. God will strengthen us so that we can endure the trials of life. The trials of life are real. God has given us instructions in his word and a pathway for us to live right. Everything that we need in order to live a healthy, godly life is included in the Word of God. When you find yourself in temptation, draw near to God. Ask Him to give you His strengths so that you can endure. Make it a priority to strengthen your relationship with Him through reading His Word and praying to Him. Never forget that God always provides a way for you to escape temptation. He is always faithful and always with you. God with us. The question is, are you with Him? God is also calling us to glorify Him in everything we do and everything that we say. This is why we are here. According to Isaiah 43 and verse 7, I have created you for my glory. I have formed you, yea, I have made you. And also in Corinthians 10 and 31 it says, whatever you do, do everything to the glory of God. Whatever you say, say it to the glory of God. The question is, How can we glorify the King of Kings? The King of Glory? Psalm 24, verses 7 and 8 says, Lift up your heads, O ye gates. Be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors, and the King of Glory shall come in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord Strong and Mighty. The Lord Mighty in battle. Glory belongs to God. God has chosen to reveal his glory in different ways on different occasions. In Exodus 24 and 17, Exodus 40 and verse 34, Psalm 19 and verse 1, it says, the heavens declare the glory of God. and the firmament show it is handy work. We also can observe the glory of God as John did according to John's gospel chapter 1 and verse 14. It says, and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us. And we beheld the glory, the glory as of the only begotten Son of God, full of grace and truth. If you have not memorized that verses yet, John chapter 1 and verse 14, you need to memorize it. Oh, it's sweet, it's marvelous, it's wonderful. And the world was made flesh and dwelled among us even up until now. and will be held the glory, the glory as of the only begotten Son of God. Have you seen and can you see the glory of God? So then, how do we give glory to God? How do we give glory to the God of glory, the King of kings? To glorify God is to recognize and acknowledge the glory of God. and to honor him with your lives in everything we do and everything we say. Whatever you do, in word or deed, that is not a suggestion. That is a command. Whatever you do, whatever you say, do it to the glory of God. We are to give honor, to recognize God, for who he really is and to respond appropriately. Look again at Psalm 29, verses one and two. That was read earlier. Psalm 29, verses one and two. Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty. Give unto the Lord glory and strength. How can we, we, fail human being give strength and glory to a great big mighty god when we ourselves need his strength give unto him give unto the lord the glory due unto his name worship the lord in the beauty of holiness amen there is a song that we sang 50 years ago I can remember, over 50 years ago. And I can't recall that since I left school we have ever sung that song. It is called, I don't know how many of you have ever heard of it, Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken. How many of you remember that song? A song that we sang in, and the amazing thing about this song, we didn't have any songbook, and we didn't have any large screen. We had to commit those songs to memory. And strange enough, I went to bed thinking about this message. And I woke up this morning as I was on, my wife is my witness, as I was on my knees. This song came to me and I asked her, if she remember this song, we used to sing on it, if she think it's in the songbook, and how could I find it? And lo and behold, I went in my phone and there was a song. Glorious things of thee are spoken. Be careful with these phones that you have, eh? And people in Chinese know what you're thinking. Glorious things of thee are spoken. I'd like to play it, but I won't. Tonight, come back tonight, we are gonna sing that song because I cannot recall that ever in the history of Shiloh Baptist Church we have ever sung this song. I stand to be corrected. Tonight we are gonna play that song. Glorious things of thee are spoken. But if they can put up the words to this song, it says, glorious things of thee are spoken. Zion city of our God, to whose word cannot be broken. formed thee for his own abode. I want to read all of it. But what is amazing about this song is that it is filled with metaphors. It was done by one John Newton many years ago, and that song still live on. And I wonder, how many of the children ever heard that song? Put your hand up if you've heard about that song. How many of you adults have heard about it? Put your hand up, let me see. Okay, okay. How many of you sang it in school? Glorious things of thee are spoken. And I wish that the children would get to know it because it is filled with metaphor. And I still remember the song. I can't sing it from memory right now because we had to commit them to memory. There's another song really and truly that bring down the glory of heaven, which we have not sung here at Shiloh in a very long time. I'm not sure that we ever sang it in this particular building, sanctuary, probably in the old one. It's called, there is sunshine in my soul. Listen, when that song is sang, it brings down heaven and you could feel the glory of God, especially if it is sung right, without too much music. There is sunshine in my soul. It's a song that give me chills. There is sunshine in my soul. Pastor, could we have that song tonight? And I don't know. But anyway, we're not gonna have it this morning. But brethren, there is sunshine in my soul is a song that I remember very well when I was in Bible college in St. Thomas and they would sing that song in Calvary. And oh man, if it is led correctly, it just, you feel the glory of God and the presence of God in the place. I know that many of these songs are not appreciated because some of them have four stanzas and four stanzas, you have the chorus's song every time, that's eight stanzas. And I'd like to suggest when you have a song and it has four stanzas, for heaven's sake, only sing the chorus on the first and the last stanza and you don't have to sing all four stanzas you know because it gets a little long but these songs a lot have been put into them and they are meaningful they're deep when you think of the metaphor in this song glorious things of thee are spoken zion city of our god And the last stanza, it says in the last line, I like that part, the fourth stanza, if you wanna put it up there, the fourth stanza, it says, solid joys and lasting treasures, none but Zion's children know. You think of that, that sound like Spanish to some of you, right? Let me repeat it, solid joys, and lasting treasures none but Zion's children know. You got it? When you speak of the glory of God, when you tell of the glory of God, you're going to know the peace of God. Brothers and sisters, brethren, listen to the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 96, if you can turn to it. Verses 3, 7, 8 and 9. I will read only. Declare His glory among the heathen. Amen. Amen. Who's supposed to declare the glory among the heathen? The people of God. His wonders among all people. Give unto the Lord, O ye kindred of people. Give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name. Bring an offering, amen? When you come to church, bring an offering, not penny and help me. Don't put any coins in the envelopes. They can't even pay for the envelope. Give unto the Lord glory, the glory that is due to his name. Bring an offering and come before his, come into his courts. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Fie ye before him. all the earth. The problem these days is that the world, even the children of God, the people of God, are guilty of giving God's glory to sinful human beings and idols. Shame on you if you worship idols. Shame on you if you have idols in your house. Throw them out. It was Jesus Christ who said, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and give unto God the things that belong to God. For heaven's sake, don't give God what belong to Caesar. equally don't give Caesar what belong to God. Your taxes are due to Caesar. Your tithes and your offering belong to God and your worship and your glory and your honor belong to God. Man, bask in In the glory of God, when you talk to them and call them, my worship, my worship, your Lord and Lord and oh boy. Instead the judges and things say, do not call me worship, worship God only. There is only one judge that I have ever known that asks lawyers not to call him worship. The others bask in it, I won't call his name. Some of you know who he is. And I say kudos to that judge. who tell lawyers, I'm not your worship, worship God. But others sit there and went, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord, what Lord? Your worship. Maybe in order, he say, your honor. Honor is to whom honor is due? Well, brethren, when it come to worship and glory, it belongs to God only. In keeping with our subject, very briefly, And I'm glad that the pastor asked me to speak tonight because this message is in two parts. I have 10 points. I'll give you four in the next 10 minutes or so. And next six you'll come back tonight and we'll talk more about it. And with the pastor's permission, I would like us to play that song. Maybe after church you could even play it. I think in the room I told them to find it and they could play that song. Brethren, it's just, I, honest with you, I was not thinking about this song. I had this message prepared before. And when I was on my knees this morning, this song came to me. Glorious things of the earth spoken. I said to my wife, boy, it's amazing what come to your mind in the morning when you wake up, when you go to sleep thinking about God. I went to God speaking about him. praying to him about this message and I woke up and this song came to me. I said boy when you go to bed and you start thinking about people and your cousin and what they did to you and how they feel, you wake up in the morning and feel the same way. You go to sleep thinking of good things and having good thoughts. You wake up with good thoughts. Amen. Amen. Brethren, when you go to sleep, pray to God. And I lift up my hands literally when I lie down. I say, God, I thank you for giving me another day because every day since 19 or since I was 69 is a bonus point. I never thought that I would have lived to see three schools and 10 back in 19. Sorry, when I was 69, whenever that was. 2014, 2014, 2040. I never thought that I lived to see three schools in 10 because I knew I came this close to dying. And so I get up in the morning and I fall on my knees the first thing and I, before I go to sleep, I lift my hand up. God, I thank you for giving me another bonus point. And here I am heading towards 90. Thank you, Lord. In keeping with our subject, all to the glory of God, here are four things I want to leave with you. Here are some ways that scriptures say that we can glorify God. Number one, praise Him with your lips. Psalm 63 and verse 3, if you can turn to it. But it says, because thy lovingkindness is better than life. Amen. Amen. His loving kindness is better than life. My lips shall praise thee. Brethren, praise God and glorify God with your lips. We sing, offer a thousand tongues to tell, but you won't use the one that you have to glorify God. Forget about the thousand lips. Think about your own. It is said that the noblest use of your tongue is to give praise and glory to God. Psalm 33 verses 1 to 4. I want you to turn to it very quickly. Psalm 33 and verses 1 to 4. Listen what it says. Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous, for praise is comely for the upright. Praise the Lord with harp. Sing unto him with psalterian instrument, an instrument of 10 strings. Sing unto him a new song. Play skillfully with a loud noise. For the word of the Lord is right and all his works are done in truth. Amen. Amen. Number two, obey his word. Luke chapter 6 and verse 46, Luke 6 and verse 46 says, Jesus said, Why call ye me, Lord, and you refuse to obey me? It is better to obey than to sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15 and 22. Brethren, if you don't obey what God says, and remember I said, this is not a suggestion. Whatever you do and whatever you say, do it to thee glory of God. Whether you work, whether you sing, whether you play, whether you eat, whatever you do or drink, do it to the glory of God. Obey Him. Look at Colossians again. Take your Bible. Let's turn to Colossians chapter 3 verse 15 to 17, which was read earlier. Note what it said. Colossians chapter 3. It says, Let the peace of God rule in your hearts. To the rich, ye are called in one body, and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you. How? Richly with how much wisdom? All wisdom. Be wise in your decision making. Teaching and admonishing one another in psalm, in hymns, and spiritual songs. Singing with grace. in your hearts to the Lord when you sing. Do it gracefully as unto the Lord, whether it be individually in a choir or in the congregation. Sing and let it sink in and think about what you're singing, the meaning of what you're saying. And whatsoever, verse 17, verse 17, and whatsoever you do in word or in deed, Do all in the name of the Lord to the glory of God, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. Obey. Oh, this is another sermon in itself, but I would not take time with that right now. How obedient are you to the Word of God? What about those of you who have never trusted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Are you obeying when the Lord said, come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest? there are people who say that they're not coming to church because if they come to church and listen to the message they may have to make a decision and they don't ready they're not ready for that as yet I wonder when will they ever be ready if you're not a born-again believer in Jesus Christ this is your day this is your moment this is your time number three pray in Jesus name pray in Jesus name a sound light But look in John's Gospel chapter 14 and verse 13 for yourself and see what I'm saying. John's Gospel chapter 14 and verse 13. Jesus said, Whatsoever you ask in my name, Amen? Amen. i will do it so that my father may be what glorified in the sun whenever you pray in jesus name you are glorifying the father the glory that is due to him to pray in jesus name is to align our prayers and our desires with god's promises the promises that he had made, so many thousand promises in his word, and are unclaimed by so many, even those who are called Christians, who do not really appreciate the things of God and praying to God. My question to you, how much time do you spend in prayer? Brethren, anything that cannot be done through prayer cannot be done. Do you spend quality time praying? Praying about everything. Anything that you cannot pray about is not all sinful and something that you need to stay away from. You probably want somebody so badly and you know that that's not the person that God wants for you. And you're not going to pray about it because God is going to say no. You are asking for trouble. That person is going to be a lifelong thorn in your flesh. A believer's child of God has no business making love with a... Oh, excuse the pressure on you because you may get me wrong. Falling in love with a person who is not a child of God is going to be a thorn in your flesh. Because you're going against the Word of God and disobeying God. And if you don't believe me, ask those who have done it. Let's turn to Proverbs chapter 15 and look at verse 8. Proverbs 15 and verse 8. It says as follows. Proverbs 15 verse 8. One verse. The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is his delight. Amen. Amen. Again, brothers and sisters, spend quality time praying to God daily. In the morning, in the midday, in the afternoon, in the night before you go to sleep, pray to God. because you may not wake up on this side, you may wake up on the other side. Number four, finally, produce spiritual food. John chapter 15 and verse 8, Jesus Christ said, my father is glorified by this, my father is glorified by this, that you produce much food and prove to be my disciple. When you provide or produce food, you are proving that you are a disciple of God and much food, the fruit that issues out of our union with and obedience with Christ, bring glory to God. Whether it be the fruit of your body or the fruit of bringing others to Christ, it's an honor to God. When I talk about the fruit of your body, a mother, a wife, bearing children and much food. Most of you like to talk about one child and two child and thing. Breathing is a much food, lot of children. It's a blessing. And this one child thing is out of style. You need a minimum of two to four children, six or eight. Back in the day, just about every family that I could think about in Brooklyn, or Brick Hill, whatever you want to call it, had approximately eight children. And sometimes in a two-room house, and we live happily, much happier than the people with big house living. You see, you're not close, because one bedroom is way up on the east, another bedroom is all the way around the west, and each one have their own bathroom, and the only time you see them is when they come out to go to work. And they're in there with their phone, you know, and even husband and wife in their bed with their phone. God forgive me, sometimes my wife on her phone and I on my phone say, look at the two old people here. Just throw the thing aside. It's a distraction. And the sooner we get rid of this thing, the better it is. Well, not really. But we just can't do without it, eh? But don't you sometimes, you know, and every time I think of it, that she's on her phone looking at her to see who, because she, I tell you, the only time she look at the phone, don't matter call her, eh, and don't matter send her text, the only time she look at the thing there is when she lie to anybody and say, let me see who send me any text here today or who did call. because she don't bother with phone. But listen, the fruit of the body and the fruit of winning others to Christ. May I ask you, how many persons have you won to Christ since you've been born again? How much fruit have you produced? Let's go back here. Look at the verse one more time. My Father is glorified by this, that you provide or produce Much fruit, if you are truly His disciples, whether it be the fruit of your body or the fruit of another person or whatever, the fruit of winning someone to Christ. It's in Romans 1 and verse 13. It talks about the spiritual fruit and Galatians chapter 5 and verses 22 to 23 talk about the different parts of the fruit. or good deeds and Colossians chapter 1 and verse 10. I think we need to look at some of these verses. First of all, let us look at Romans chapter 1 and verse 13 and then Galatians, which I hope that everyone is well acquainted with. Galatians chapter 5 and verses 22 and 23. That is, first of all, Romans chapter 1 and verse 13. Listen to what it says here. Romans 1 and verse 13. Now, I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, but was left hitherto, that I might have some food among you also, even among other Gentiles. What food the apostle Paul was talking about? That I could come and minister to you, and that I might be able to win some to Jesus Christ. How often do you try to whip someone to the Lord? What is your effort? What about Galatians chapter 5 and verses 22 and 23? It says, talking about the food of the Spirit, but the food of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Against such there is no law. Brethren, when you produce these things, you are glorifying God. What do you think that glorifying means? Time will not permit us to talk about the Shekinah glory of God, the apostles and not the possible the old testament saints brethren when they were in certain places and the glory of god came down they could not move they stayed there and enjoy the presence and the glory of god when the shekinah glory of god came down in a cloud and then when moses was up in the mountain when moses came down and moses face was shining they could not look on moses for they realized that the glory of god was upon moses And your face would shine when the glory of God is upon you. And brethren, could you enjoy and appreciate the glory of God when we come here? And when the choir sings and when we sing together, do you feel the presence of God? Some are so ignorant to the glory of God that they would not even know whether or not there was a glory of God and the presence of God because they come into church angry. And they leave angry. And they vex because of something the pastor may have said, although he was not referring to them. Brethren, somebody said, when you go to church and the pastor preach, it's like eating fish. Eat the flesh and spit out the bone. If the pastor says something and it seems to be thorny or bony, spit it out. Look for the flesh. Get the message. Amen? You could be eating bones that were not supposed for you. leave the bones for the dogs when you eat fish well you don't need people don't bother give dogs bones anymore people go to the store to buy food for the dog go to god that they will kill these donkeys and monkeys and make food for the dog well that's our path but back to our message here colossians chapter 1 and verse 10 after all that he has after what he has said there in the beginning adjusting the breathing not not a good way to uh start here but he says that he may walk worthy of the Lord unto the pleasing, unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God. Strengthen, verse 11, with all might, according to his glorious power. Amen. Amen. unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness giving thanks unto the father which hath made us meet to be partakers with the inheritance of the saints in light amen who hath delivered us from the dark the dark from the power of darkness and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear son God has lifted us out of darkness and put us into the light and into the kingdom of his dear son and you who have never been born again this is your moment to come into the family of God and enjoy the glory of God and the blessings of God to you and this generation I'm talking to. And when I say generation, I'm not necessarily talking to young people. I'm talking to the people who are alive in this time. Have little appreciation for the glory of God. Some come to church out of soul, they say. Whatever that means. And me only come because me parents pressure me. You better thank God that your parents pressure you. So that you could experience the glory of God. But I find that the glory of God is very little appreciated in these times. We take God's glory and we give it to sinful man. Idols which do not deserve it. God be thanked that we see how leaders of this world and judges are corrupting themselves at this time. Brethren, we just need to stay out of it and give God the glory that is due to Him. Don't get caught up with what is going on in the world. All this will precede the coming of Christ. And it tells us that the coming of the Lord is near. When you say these things, look up for your redemption. May I ask you, are you a born again Christian in Christ? Are you a born again believer? If you have never trusted Christ, please give your heart to God. Get into this family of God and enjoy the glorious light and blessings that God has provided for his people. And if you are born again Christian and you are not committed, I ask you please, commit yourself to God and let the glory and the blessings of God fall on you so that in return you could glorify God and experience the Shekinah glory of God that He poured out way back in the days of Moses.
