Thank you for coming to Sunday school today. We're going to start out with prayer, and then we're going to sing this little light of mine, and I know we did it last week. And we're going to do three verses this week, because I kind of threw an extra verse in there last week, and it wasn't on the screens for you to see. So this week we're going to actually do the three verses, and they will be on the screens. So do you want to pray, Mrs. Brown? Okay. Lord Jesus, we do thank you for this day. We do thank you, Lord, that we can have the freedom to come and worship you here at First Baptist. We thank you for the opportunity to read your word. We ask that you would be with those who are watching. No matter what their age, Lord, we ask that their hearts would be directed closer to you. And we do thank you for your goodness to us and your protection. And we pray, as the story goes out, that hearts would be touched. In Jesus' name, amen. Okay, so let's do This Little Light of Mine. This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine. This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. Won't let Satan. I'm going to let it shine. Won't let Satan it out. I'm going to let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine. Hide it under a bushel. No. I'm going to let it shine. Hide it under a bushel. No. I'm going to let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine. Good job, and those were all on the screen, so I hope everyone was able to sing that and do the motions, because we remembered the motions this week. So now we're going to do the Bible story, and we're going to pick up on Jesus and his teaching. And he was teaching a big crowd, like the very first week we had this, I believe it was Fishers of Men, and Jesus was teaching, and he had to get into a boat. and because there was such big crowds, and he had another big crowd, and he was teaching, and all of a sudden, someone stood up, and this man was a lawyer, and lawyers are very smart, and I think he wanted to catch Jesus in something that maybe he was hoping to get him into trouble, and he asked Jesus a question, and he said, Jesus, what is the law? What am I supposed to do? And Jesus said, you know what the law is. And Jesus uses things that we know. Jesus uses things that you know. Maybe you are a crafty person. So maybe Jesus uses you to help somebody fix something or make something. Jesus likes to use what you know. And so he knew that this lawyer was probably very smart and knowledgeable in the law. And he said, you know the law. What is the law to you? And the lawyer said, well, it's to love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul, and mind and to love thy neighbor. And Jesus said, yes, you said it. That is exactly right. And then the lawyer looked at him again, because I think he didn't want to let that go, and he said, well, who is my neighbor? And Jesus said, I'll tell you a story. And so Jesus told him the story about a man who got hurt, and he said, there was a man who was traveling, and he came upon thieves, and they beat him, and they stole all of his things, and they left him for dead. And while he was laying there, a priest came by. And now you think of a priest. Maybe a priest is maybe like a pastor. And you think of that person as someone who should be caring and kind and nice, right? But he looked off, and he saw this man laying in the road. And he looked at him, but he kind of backed away. And he took a longer route around this man. Because he didn't want to have anything to do with that. Maybe he was running late and he just didn't want to take the time. And he kept walking. And the man still laid there. And probably the sun was hot. And a little while later, another man came by. And he was a Levite, another man who should have been caring and kind and thoughtful. And he actually went a step further than just walking around the body. And he walked up to the body. And he kind of probably leaned down and looked at him. Oh, he's hurt. What am I going to do? Probably nothing. So he got up and he walked and he just left the man laying there. A little while later, another man came by and this man was a Samaritan. And Samaritans weren't liked by a lot of people. So I'm sure that someone looking at him, if he walked away from this body, they wouldn't think anything of it because they weren't treated very well. So why should they treat somebody well? So he came by and he noticed the body laying in the road. And he walked over and he looked at him and you know what he did? He got all of his stuff off of his donkey. He helped him. He gave him water. He gave him something to eat probably. And then he dressed all of his wounds. He got them all put together and then he picked them up, put them on his horse or his donkey probably. And he took him to the town that he was going traveling to. And he took him to the inn and he told the innkeeper, I want you to take care of this man. He gave him some money and he said, if you spend more money than what I just gave you, I will be back into town and I will pay you the rest, but I want you to take care of this man. And Jesus said, who was the one who was the neighbor? And the lawyer looked at him and he said, well, the one that helped him. And Jesus said, that's right. Now go and help your neighbor. And that's what we need to remember. It doesn't matter what someone has done to you. God has given us the ability to help no matter what we go through. And that is why we always need to remember that helping others is our choice, but we need to do it because it's what God says. Okay? So thank you for listening to this story. And we're going to do a sermon in shoes, which is what Jesus was doing. He was a sermon in shoes, walking around, teaching everybody. Do you know, oh Christian, you're a sermon in shoes? Do you know, oh Christian, you're a sermon in shoes? Jesus counts upon you to spread the gospel news. So walk it and talk it, a sermon in shoes. And there's a lot more, but I don't remember the other one. So let's do our verse. Right here. And it's Colossians 3, 23. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men. And that's what the Samaritan did, didn't he? He made sure that he helped this person, even though he knew nobody else was watching. He helped him anyway. So let's say it together. Colossians 3.23, and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men. Colossians 3.23. Very good. Oh, I like this song. We're going to do Rolled Away, and we have motions. Rolled away, rolled away, rolled away. Okay, so let's, are there extra verses of that? No, we'll just do the first one. OK, just the first one. We'll just do the first one, because it's the only one we have up there. OK, so let's sing it. Rolled away, rolled away, rolled away. Every burden of my heart rolled away. Rolled away, rolled away, rolled away. Every burden of my heart rolled away. Every sin had to go. need the crimson flow hallelujah rolled away rolled away rolled away every burden of my heart rolled away very good and while mrs rolling game goes and finds out what ray and lolly are doing we're going to redo our verse again colossians 3 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men. So this week we need to remember that everything we do, let's think of others. Let's think of what we can do to help others out. And we don't need to worry about what other people are thinking about us. We just need to worry about what God is going to think about us, because he's the one who really matters in our lives, isn't he? And I believe Lolly and Ray are heading this way. Let's see what they've got going on. Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do Hi, Lolly. Hi, Ray. Ray, what's that? Well, I decided to try and grow a geode. Doesn't it sparkle? Oh, yes. It's so pretty. Did it take you a long time to grow it? Hmm, yeah, about three months. It started out just as a tiny bit of mixture in the bottom of my jar and in a few weeks I noticed how it began to take shape and grow and sparkle just like glass. That is so cool. I think I'd like to try and grow one myself. Was it very hard? No. Once I got the amounts right for the ingredients, it just was a matter of keeping it in a safe place and not moving it around. But you know something, Lolly? This geode has taught me a very special lesson. Really. Well, what was that? Well, ever since I asked Jesus to be my Savior, He has been showing me that I need to grow in order to shine and sparkle for Him. I think you're doing a great job. Yes, but you know what? I'm not being a very good friend. What do you mean, Ray? You're a great friend. After all, we're best friends. I know, but the place to start is by being an even better friend. And I take you for granted a lot. And I don't like to go out of my way to help others either. After all, remember our story about the good Samaritan? Nobody liked him. But he was the best friend anyone could have. He even helped that man on the road who had been beaten by thieves and left to die. He didn't mind going out of his way to help someone who needed him, even if the man would have normally treated him badly for being who he was, a Samaritan. I am like those others that just couldn't be bothered. And I don't want to be like that anymore. Well, Ray, it sounds to me like you are growing in the Lord. You are wanting to be more like Jesus. I saw you talking to Mitch the other day. He's so very lonely, being stuck in that wheelchair so much. And I know you've noticed that he has problems speaking. Yes, I talked to him for a long time, and he's really a nice guy. But you know, when I was with him, some other kids came by and were saying nasty things to him. And because I was with him, they made comments about me too. I was very hurt. Well, what did you do? I made my excuses, and I left. But it's been bothering me a lot. I should have been a better friend and stayed with him. We were having such a nice time, and I know he didn't understand my attitude. Oh, yes, I think maybe he did, Ray. But you know, just like your geodes, growing in Christ takes time. But don't give up. Ask the Lord to give you strength, and he will answer your prayers. Then determine to do what he wants you to do. Would you like to pray about it, even right now? I would. Will you pray with me, Lolly? Of course I will. Dear Jesus, I want to grow more. I want to be kinder and more thoughtful to others. I want you to shine through me. Show me what to do. Please answer my prayer. In Jesus' name, amen. That was a very good prayer, Mitch. And I know Jesus heard. Hey, look! What? Over there. Isn't that Mitch right now? It is, Lolly. It's Mitch. I wonder where he's going. Why don't you go ask him? Now is your opportunity. Oh, I will, Lolly. I'll go right now. Would you like me to go with you? No, I have a lot to tell him. I think I want to do this myself. Okay, Mitch. I'll be praying. Bye. Bye, Lolly. Hey, Mitch. Mitch, wait for me. I want to talk to you. lesson for Ray to have learned and it was very good of him to have thought about that. Can I see that? And also I was thinking while I was listening to Ray talk about it that when he said that some people just can't take the time, that's very true. Some people just want to wait for somebody else to take the rails and say, You know what? Someone else will come by and help that person. I don't need to do it. But that's not being a very good friend, is it? You need to be the first one to step up because that's what God did for us. He stepped up and he said, I'm going to die for you. I want to be the one to die for you. Nobody else would have done that for us. So we need to remember that if Jesus is going to do that, we also need to learn by the example of him. And we need to be the first ones to step up and help other people. OK? And I wanted to say, These are extremely easy, and you can do it in many ways. I have done it in an eggshell with water, and I believe it's salt, right? And just salt, and you just set it somewhere. I have never seen it in a jar, but that's pretty cool. And I think you can make these extremely big too, where they could probably go up here. So that's kind of a fun thing for the kids to kind of do. It's just salt, water, and you used glitter dye. Oh, just food coloring, just food coloring. So that's something fun that you could probably do. And now we have a craft for this week about helping hands. So we all need to remember to use our helping hands. Oh, I'm helping right now with my hands. Okay, thank you. Okay, moms and dads, we've got you back hopefully this week to work with your little ones. This is a very simple craft. I like simple especially with little guys. I still get kind of messy, but that's okay. We're going to need just a scissors this week. Any size sheet of paper depending on how large your hand your little ones hands are. Some glue and acrylic paint. Fun, fun, fun. Now, you can use finger paint, but I find with finger paint, doing this particular project, the finger paint tends to kind of fade into the paper, and it doesn't show up real well. The acrylic works really well. And if you are afraid it won't clean up, actually, I have no paint left on my hands. And the reason being, some colors will stain, but I used, actually a different color than this, but I used a little bit of soap, dish soap, in the mix. And not only does that make it pleasing to their little sensories, it cleans up really well that way. So don't forget to put a little bit of a Dawn or something like that in your paint. So what we're going to do, and it's really easy, is we're going to make a helping hands plaque. And this is what it ends up looking like. Okay. Um, and I made, I used my hands because it's easier to see with the camera and everything and the distance. And on one side, the hands say helping hands and the other side it says, do it heartily unto the Lord. And we cannot, um, teach our children enough, the need to be helpful. That is one of the first lessons they learn growing up. Little ones need to learn to help and not to be afraid to offer their help as well. And so all you do is if you have little ones that love to get messy, this won't be a problem. They'll have a good time with it. But we have one little grandchild that hates to have the hands messy. If you have a child with, you know, a little bit of tender sensory deals going on, it's okay. They'll like the feeling of the paint mixed with the soap. Just let them rub their hands together like they're washing them. They get it all over and then just gently press them to the paper, and then they can run and rinse their hands off right away. And then let it dry, and I used an extra heavy piece of cardstock to do it on. That way it doesn't wrinkle up once it starts to dry. And then whatever color you want. And then I found this frame laying around and I decided to put it in a frame. And you can hang it on their bedroom wall and remind them that it's there every now and again. Help them to memorize it so that it's in their head and in their heart. And that's all there is to it. Easy peasy. So this week we have two fun crafts that you can do. Oh, great. You're going to make me. So you'll have to let people know how that turns out for y'all. And we're going to do one more song. Jesus Bids Us Shine. And I'm not very familiar with this one, so I'm just going to leave that. OK. Jesus bids us shine with a clear, pure light. Like a little candle burning in the night, in this world of darkness we must shine. You in your small corner and I in mine. You're gonna have to learn that one. Can we try that one more time? Okay, we'll try one more time. Jesus spits a shine with a clear, pure light, like a little candle burning in the night. In this world of darkness we must shine, you in your small corner and I in mine. I'm getting that. Okay. So let's do our verse one more time. Get it drilled into your head. Colossians 3.23. And whatsoever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men. Colossians 3.23. 3.23. All right and then remember we are always going to be helpful hands this week and the weeks to come because we always want to be that. And we want to do what God says and help others. So let's remember that. Let's close in prayer. Dear Lord, we thank you for this day. We thank you that we can come and worship you. We pray for our listening ears, that we can listen to pastor and our Sunday school teachers. Lord, we thank you for giving us the ability to come and worship you and to be with other believers that can help us grow as well. And I pray that you'll give us a good day today, Lord. Keep our minds stayed on you. In your name we pray. Amen.
