Well, can I say, first of all, thank you to everybody in the Sunday School for that wonderful program that talked about creation. And it was a real blessing in my heart and so lovely to see so many people and so many great singers, I have to say, singing solo at the front. Not many of the adults would like to do that, but you have done very well. And I have to say it was brilliant. So thank you so much for all your hard work. I'm not going to keep you very long, just for a few moments at the end of this meeting. But I want you to turn, if you have a Bible with you, to John chapter 3. John chapter 3. And we just want to read a few verses and then bring a little lesson to bring our Children's Day service this afternoon to a close. I'm gonna read just a few verses from John chapter three. We'll read from verse 14 to verse number 17. God's word said, and as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the son of man be lifted up, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. Amen. Let's just close our eyes and let's pray and ask God to help us. Heavenly Father, we thank Thee for everything that's taken place so far this afternoon. We thank You for all the boys and girls, for their teachers, for all who've come to listen and see. And we thank You, Lord, that we have had a clear presentation of the gospel already. And we do pray, Lord, for all of the children, the young people of the Sunday school, that they'll not just know about the Lord, and they'll not just be able to sing about the Lord, but that they will know Him personally as their own Lord and Savior. And we pray, Lord, for the word that has been sown in the hearts of the boys and girls while young in life, that, Lord, it will bring forth fruit. And early in life, you will save each boy and girl and raise them to be men and women of God. We pray, Lord, you'll bless us just as we made around your word just for a few moments. We pray, Lord, that you will write Your word upon our hearts, and we pray, Lord, that you'll speak to each one in this gathering. And if there's any not saved, Lord, do leave me pleased today to show them their need of a Savior and give them grace to call upon thy name for salvation. These things we pray in Jesus' precious and holy name. Amen. You know, in the Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ used everyday objects and just everyday life to share the gospel. He talked about the farmer, he talked about the sower, he talked about bread, he talked about fish, all of those different things, and in each way he presented the gospel. And what I want to do is to use some things that you're going to be familiar with to present the gospel. Now, I know something is happening at the end of this week that everybody's very sad about. Anything happening special at the end of this week that everybody is very sad about? End of school, yes, excellent. The end of school, and I know you're very disappointed. Who would like to stay on for another few weeks at school? Wow, very good. You must have a good school. Good. Who is glad they're getting off for a wee break? Excellent. We'll not ask the moms and dads to raise their hand, see how they feel about it, but that's good. Isn't it nice to get off for a little while at school? But at school, there are certain things you hear all the time. And I guarantee every single person who's been to school will have heard some of these things that the teacher has said. And I'm going to use four little sayings that you hear in school all the time and seek to bring the gospel through them. Now here's a wee saying you might not only hear at school, but you probably hear this at home quite a lot as well. Quiet. Shh. Who has been told to be quiet at school? Yes, I think we are. Who's been told to be quiet at home? I had to be told to be quiet at home as well. Of course, we like to talk, don't we? And we like to listen to things, and we like to watch things, and all of these different things. And we're told to be quiet at school so that we can concentrate on what we're reading, we can concentrate on our work, that we can have time to think in silence, that our attention is not being drawn away. You think of all the things that go through your mind all the time. You get up in the morning, the first question in my mind is, will I get up? That's the first thing I think when I wake up. Will I get up or will I lie a little longer? Now, what am I going to wear? Is there school today? What do I have to take? Where am I going today? All of these different questions come into our mind. But I wonder if you are ever still and quiet to think about God. There's a verse in the Bible that says, be still and know that I am God. Now, you've all been talking about creation and how God has created this world, this beautiful world, in six days. But you know what? Everybody's so busy in life. They're so busy. Life is so noisy that they don't take time to be still and realize God is speaking. God is speaking through creation. The Bible tells us that creation declares that there is a God. I wonder when was the last time even the adults stood and looked around at everything God has made. Looked at the trees and the flowers, looked at the sky and saw the stars shining at night, looked around at the beauty of God's creation. Even little babies that come into the world, how fearfully and wonderfully they're made. And you know, Sometimes we're so busy talking and listening that we have forgotten to be quiet and think about the things of God. There's a verse in the Bible, in Haggai, it says, consider your ways. And I wonder when was the last time you were just still and thought about your heart, how you stand before God. I believe that there are many adults are scared to be quiet. to be still and to think about heaven and hell, the Bible, the gospel, that's why the TV's on all the time, the radio's on, earphones in, talking to people all the time, because people don't want to be silent and think. But the Bible tells us to be quiet, we're to take time, and we're to think about our ways, to think about how we stand before God. I wonder, as you think about how you stand before God, does God see a Christian or does God see someone still in their sin? It's God looks at your heart, because you all have come really well-dressed, beautifully dressed for Children's Day, but the Bible says, man looks in the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart. So let's take time this afternoon to be still and to think about how we stand before God. Here's another thing that's often said in school. Lying up here, Okay, who's heard that one? Yeah, we all have, haven't we? Line up here, maybe the bell goes, right? It's time to line up, maybe to get into school, and then you have to line up to get out of school, and then you have to line up to go for lunches, or you have to line up for dinners, or you line up to get the bus, or you line up to do PE, and all of those things, you're always seen to be lining up, don't you? Getting ready to do the next task. Well, do you know in the Bible, There is a story told about a day when someone told a large group of people to line up. Joshua was speaking to the children of Israel, and he effectively told them to line up. He said, choose you this day whom you will serve. And he told them that there was two choices they could make. They could either choose to follow the Lord and come out, or they could stay and refuse to follow the Lord. A line for those who believed in God, and a line for those who did not believe and who were not going to obey God. This is what Joshua said, "'Choose you this day whom ye will serve, but as for me, and my house we will serve the Lord. There were two lines that day. There were only two ways you could go. One for those who would follow God, and one for those who would not. I wonder today if I said, choose you this day, if all those who are following God and obeying God come to this side, and those who are not obeying God, those who are still in their sin, go to this side, I wonder which group you would be in today. Now I know that everybody wants to go to heaven, nobody wants to be lost in that awful place called hell, nobody wants to be under God's wrath or God's anger, but you must choose to follow the Lord. You must turn away from your sin. and you must put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. And you do that simply by calling upon Him to save you. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. And the word whosoever takes in everybody here today. You're not too old to call, and you're not too young to call. You're not too bad to call, and you're certainly not too good, but you need to call. Everybody needs to call upon the Lord. Everybody needs to choose to follow the Lord and to call on the Lord Jesus Christ to save them from their sin. You know, every time you hear the gospel, every time you come to church, every time you come to Sunday school, the on-site person has to make a choice, will I follow the Lord or will I just stay where I am? So you think about that whenever you're told to line up tomorrow. You think, well, have I lined up? Am I following the Lord? Or am I staying where I am? Then here's another one you probably hear all the time. Eyes on me. It's easy to get distracted, isn't it? It's easy to be interested in what somebody's doing over there, or what something's happening out the window, or you're just drifting off in a wee daydream. The odd time at school, I was in a wee daydream, and I was like, Ryan, snap out of that. Eyes on me. And we have to look at the teacher because they have something important to tell us, okay? So if they say, eyes on me, watch what I'm doing, maybe it would be that they're going to do a sum on the board and then they want you to do that sum in your book and to teach you how to do that particular sum. Maybe it's to show you how to throw a ball or how to catch a ball. Maybe it is to show you how to sit properly with your arms folded and your lips closed. All of those things, whatever it is, the teacher says, eyes on me because they want to communicate with you. And you know what that reminds me? Whenever we're saved, the Lord asks us to keep our eyes on Him. And Christians are to look to the Lord. Listen to this wee verse in Hebrews chapter 12. Let us run with patience the race that is set before us looking onto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. And Christians ought every day to look to Jesus. That's how we live, that's how we grow, that's how we know the way to live. So how do we look to Jesus? Because we can't see the Lord Jesus with our eyes at this time. Someday we will, every eye will see him, but at the minute we can't. So how do we look to Jesus as Christians? Well, we open our Bible. And as we open our Bible and read the Bible, that's looking to Jesus. As we pray, we are looking to the Lord. And everyone should take time to open their Bible every day and to pray and keep our eyes on the Lord. When you come to Sunday school and the teacher speaks about the Bible. that's looking on to the Lord. That is seeing what the Lord is teaching us. And whenever you look to the Lord, you will see an example of how you ought to live. We're to follow him. We're to follow his ways. We're to follow his actions. We're to follow his word. We're to follow his kindness. But if you're not saved today, If you're not a Christian, you need to look on to the Lord in faith. You need to believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sin and that He shed His blood to make you clean. We heard a few moments ago about the fall of creation and the fall of man and how we're all born with sin because of what Adam and Eve did in the garden of Eden. but the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to take away our sin, and when we call upon him, he washes us and makes us clean in his precious blood. And one of my favorite hymns is, what can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. But Jesus' blood can make you clean if you call upon him today. One more, and that's us finished. Please raise your hand. This is often said if somebody shouts out, And sometimes, we're that excited, we think we know the answer, we want to say something, you shout out before you're asked. And teachers, right, please raise your hand and I'll pick someone. There's another reason you raise your hand. Sometimes you may be doing work and you don't understand. And maybe you get stuck on something. Maybe it's a word you can't read. Maybe it's a psalm you just can't figure it out. Whatever it is, you just cannot go any further. And you raise your hand knowing that the teacher will see your hand, say, yes, can I help you? And come down and give you some help. And this reminds me that as Christians, we often need help. We can't live for the Lord on our own strength. And there are many times there are decisions we have to make and circumstances that we have to face that are very, very difficult. But the Lord wants us to speak to Him. And the Bible says that we should pray at all times. We should pray every day. We should pray whenever we need help. There's a lovely verse in the Bible that says, ask and it shall be given you. So as a Christian, whatever you need, you should ask the Lord for it. Now that doesn't mean we're to ask for things like a new bike or things like that that are just selfish things, but as a Christian, to help us to live for the Lord, we are to ask certain things. We had asked the Lord to give us strength to say no to sin. We're to ask the Lord to give us strength to say yes to what is right, to help us to be kind, to help us to tell others about the gospel, to help us to pray, and to help us to read our Bible. Sometimes we need help not to be angry. Sometimes we get angry so quickly and say things we regret. We need to pray and say, Lord, help me not to be angry. Sometimes we're afraid. We're all scared sometimes. Maybe you don't like the dark. Maybe you're afraid of what's happening in the future. We should pray and ask the Lord to give us strength to trust in him and to rest in him and pray that he will give us peace within our heart. You know, boys and girls, moms and dads here today, the most important thing in your life is not actually going through school. The most important thing in your life isn't even coming to church. The most important thing in your life is knowing that you are saved from your sin. And the only way we can be saved from our sin is by trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ. As we bring our time to a close this afternoon, I simply want to ask you, are you trusting in the Lord Jesus? Has there been a time in your life you've asked the Lord Jesus to come into your heart to save you from your sin? Or are you still in your sin today? We all need to be ready to meet the Lord. Whatever age you are, you need to be ready. And the Bible says that the best time to be ready is now. Right now, this moment today, is a day of salvation. And if you're not saved, I encourage you to call on the Lord to save you. Or maybe you need more help, or maybe you want to know more about becoming a Christian, ask your Sunday school teacher. Someone sitting around you who's a Christian, and they would love to show you how you can be saved. I trust and pray that every single one of you who sang today, and every single one who's gathered in this church, will know Christ as Savior. And whenever we get to heaven, that each of us will be found there, saved by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. And if you're not saved, I encourage you to come today.
