Good morning. Welcome to Seoul Bible Church. It is good to see you all today. We are so thankful to have some visitors with us today. Billy's mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Pence, Our pastor and assistants are here with us, so it's good to have you with us. And from Saipan, we want to welcome Mrs. Langman. It's good to have you with us again as well. And today, of course, is Zion's first day of church, so she is up in the nursery. We may hear from her. As you can see, Lee Jong-jin and Kim Ji-sun brought their daughters, Shi-won, after a long time. There's a new Shi-won. She's upstairs now. Please welcome her. I should mention that Zion brought her parents as well. But it is good to have everyone here, and we want to prepare our hearts for worship this morning. As Mrs. Henderson plays the song that you see in your bulletin, hymn number 399 is standing on the promises. That's about what we've got to do in the Rosh Hashanah story. Well, we are working on memorizing Yohan Bohem Shalom, John 15. And so on the back of your bulletin, you will see John 15, verses 4 through 10. I'll read that in English. Pastor Chu will read it in Korean. And then this month's memory verse is John 15, 11, which is on the inside panel. So we'll get there in just a moment. John 15, verses 4 through 10. I abide in me, and I in you. As a branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can ye except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, this same bringeth forth. much fruit. For without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch in this river, and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit. So shall ye be My disciples, as the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you, continuing you in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love, even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. Come into me, and I will come into you. If a branch is not attached to a grape tree, it cannot bear fruit. If you are not in me, go away. I am a grape tree, and you are a branch. If I am in you, you bear a lot of fruit. If you leave me, you cannot do anything. If a person is not in me, People will love you first because you will become thin like a branch. If you save my wife and my village, I will give you whatever you want. If you plant a lot of fruits, my father will be honored. You will be my disciples. I loved you as my father loved me, so save me in my love. In this month's memory verse, I will say it in English, and then we'll repeat it together, and then you will repeat it in Korean, and we will try to read it together. John 15, 11. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. Let's say it together. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. John 15, 11. I will give you this, and my joy will be in you, so that you may be filled with joy. I will give you this, and my joy will be in you, so that you may be filled with joy. John 15, verse 17. All right, let's take our red handles and we'll turn to hymn number 342, standing the same, simply trusting every day. 342. Let's stand up and sing together. 342. Today's scripture reading includes what may be the most familiar verses of Micah to Christians. Of course, Micah 5 speaks of our Savior's birth in Bethlehem, as well as His suffering for our sins. Micah 6a, of course, famously speaks of God's expectations of His people. But we're going to read these two chapters together before understanding the contents of the Psalms. Micah 5, verses 1-4. Now muster yourselves in truth, God of truth. They have laid siege against us. with a rod, they will smite the judge of Israel on the cheek. But as for you, Capernaum, Capernaum, too little to be among the clans of Judah. From you one will go forth, for me, to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity. Therefore he will give them up until the time when she who is a neighbor has born a child. Then the remainder of his brethren will return to the sons of Israel, and he will arise and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will remain, because at that time he will be great to the ends of the earth. My daughter, the army, gather your people. They have killed us, so use a stick to cut the blood of the judges of Israel. Even if they are small in number, they will come forth from among those who will rule Israel. This is the first of the three commandments. Therefore, until the woman gives birth to a child, she will keep them close to her. After that, the remaining brothers will return to the children of Israel. First Father says, this one will be our peace. When the Assyrian invades our land, when he tramples on our citadels, then we will rise against him seven shepherds and eight leaders of our own. Verse six through nine. They will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod at its entrances. And He will deliver us from the Assyrian when he attacks our land and when he tramples our territory. Then the remnants of Jacob will be among many peoples, like dew from the Lord, like showers on vegetation, which do not wait for man or delay for the sons of men. It's Micah chapter 1. We should start with a reality that is true, and that is Few of us, maybe none of us, enjoy condemnation. We just don't like it when others judge us. And if we're being honest, perhaps some of us like even less the truth that the twice holy God of heaven will judge each and every one of us for every kind of work you do, and for every kind of deed you do. Not only that, but not only do you not want to hear what other people say, but even more so, God, the God of three days, Those of us who are in Christ Jesus truly have had our sins forgiven. And the Bible truly does say there is no condemnation in Christ. Our sins are completely paid in full by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. So Christians don't fear damnation or paying the price of our sins in that sense. But throughout the scriptures, we see that even thousands of people who are called by this name are stricken. We call God our Father, but we walk away from his wisdom. But for being honest with one another, each of us can confess that there are times when we've been prodigal children whom the Good Shepherd has had to seek out leaving his 99 good sheep behind him to get us back into the fold. In today's overview of Micah, I want us to see that God chastisement in the present, and his future judgment at the second coming, before that throne in the final day, should prompt those of us who have been tempted to stray, or those of us who have strayed, to cling to our Savior's side, to abide in Christ. Through today's Gospel, we can see that God to punish the people of God who have sinned, and to judge the people of God who will be resurrected in the future. If there are people who have left God and are out of God, So as I read to you Matthew chapter 1 verses 1-8, I want us to see the final terrifying arrival of God should keep us close to help us to abide in this one and not the other. Today, we are going to read the Bible in 1 John 1.8. There will be God's final, scary coming. Because of that fact, So verses 1 through 4 and then 5 through 8. The word of the Lord which came to Micah, Moresh, in the days of Jotham, Erechaz, and Ezekiah, the kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem. Hear, O peoples, all of you. Listen, O earth, and all it contains. Let the Lord God be of you. For behold, the Lord is coming forth from his place. He will come down and tread the high places of the earth. The mountains will melt under him. The valleys will be split like wax before the Father. In the days of Judah, Judah, Ahaz, and Hezbollah, the people of the sand, listen to what the LORD has to say about Samaria and Jerusalem. The people, listen to it. All the land and all that is there, listen to it carefully. The LORD will testify to you, and the Lord will do so in the temple. The King will come out of the well and step on the high ground of the Gangne Masa. Under the ground, the mountains will rise and the valleys will split. It will be like water pouring down like a feather in front of fire. I will make Samaria a heap of ruins in the open country, planting places for a vineyard. into the valley will lay bare her foundations. All of her idols will be smashed. All of her urns will be burned with fire. All of her images I will make desolate. For she collected them from a heart of thorns. And to the urns of the heart I will return. Because of this I must make a lament and a mourning. I must go barefoot. I must make a lament like the jackal's life and a mourning like the ostrich's. Oh What is the treasure of Jacob, and what is the sin of Israel? What is the treasure of Jacob? It is not Samaria. What is the temple of Judah? It is not Jerusalem. In this way, I will make Samaria like the tomb of the Lord, and I will make the city of Sodom like the mountain of the East, and I will pour out the stones into the well, and I will lift up the earth, and I will take over the whole world, and I will pay the price of the whole world, Michael reveals the truly dramatic key as Almighty God himself summons all the earth to come hear his judgment on Judah and Samaria as he descends to earth. descends, melting the mountains, splitting the valleys, pouring liquefied rocks of the cities into the valleys like some leftover trash. In the 3rd verse, it says that God and the fox will come together. What happens when they come together? The mountains will melt away. Just think of a mountain in our time. The mountains will melt away, and the valleys will split open, and the mountains will fall down like water. that the sins of our own creation, as the only true and living God, once for all, pulverizes the idols of sin. The 7th says the idols are smashed, the images are made. But there is no such thing. Seriously, there isn't. But even God's great patience is necessary. The Christ returns. The life of John's wrath will be poured out on humanity and the church. But as we read this passage, this is God dealing not with humanity, but with his own chosen people, the physical descendants of Abraham. prior to his dealing with those who have never claimed him as God. First one, it says the wounds are impurable. It has come to Judah. It has reached the gate of my people. There's only one cure for any cure. Any cure. And as we read in Mark 6, verses 1 through 5, A repetition as God once again summons creation to hear his case against his people. Therefore, God is not only the judge of his people, he is the apostle of his people. The Lord asks, how have I made you weary? Why are you so tired of me, bored of me? He reminds his people that he has rescued, redeemed them from Egypt. Indeed, he blessed his own people despite Balaam and Balak's best efforts to curse them. And it was only when they broke the terms of the covenant at Shittim with the women of Moab that the people faced defeat. And yet they were restored at Yom Kippur. Despite God's goodness and his faithfulness to his people, Israel, Judah, actually Judah, was bored, weary by the Lord. You know, there are a lot of people Listen to Almighty God's invitation for you. mark it to repent and receive mercy today while you may. When you have the opportunity to receive the invitation to repent and receive God's mercy, What does that mean? It's not about a haircut, it's about repentance. It's about turning from the wicked ways. The glorious truth is today can be the day of salvation for the very worst sinner. For the worst of those Ninevites that Jonah preached to, there was mercy. Hezekiah's son would receive mercy after a a reign of over five decades full of iniquity, but we behold the Son of God, who is in heaven." For the worst hypocrite, the greatest sinner, this side of the eternity, there is hope in Christ, the Savior, and only in Christ, in true Christ. Everyone, even if you are the worst hypocrite in this world, there is a chance to receive God's grace and mercy in the name of Jesus Christ. Seek Jehovah while you may. Seek Him. You will find Him in the merciful Christ who died that you might receive God's mercy rather than His just damnation. So Micah chapter 1 tells us that God's final terrifying arrival should keep us close to him. But as we look at Micah 2 and 3, we see also the imminent. Before Christ returns, there are other lesser chastisements. His discipline should keep us close in the body and in the heart. It might be a good idea at this point to ask, what in the world did not God Himself have? What provoked God to this extent? What in the world would make God mad enough to melt the mountains and turn stones to slag? This is liquid stone. So as we can see there are a multitude of children, but we won't see how the planning and performance of sin. in different particulars of different people in this time. I'd like to just read Let's just read Micah 2, verses 1-3. Micah 2, verses 1-3 says, Woe to those who work out evil on their beds. Take other fields and seeds and houses and take away They brought a man in his house, a man in his inheritance, and there were vessels full of people, and I'm telling you, this is from a claim from which you cannot remove the evidence. You will not walk unto the man, for it would be an enemy. Shin Sang-ye-seo ak-eul ttae-ham-yeo, gan-sa-reul gyeong-yeong-hago, nal-yi mal-geum-yeon geu son-e-him-i it-seum-eo-ro, The one who does it is the wise ginger. He takes away the fields and the houses. They take away the love of the house and the industry. Both playing sin and performing sin. Some of us have great dreams, hopes for a good future. We have a hope of a success to come, plans for the future. But here we have a bunch of schemes. Even as they're in their beds, when they should be taking their rest, they're making nefarious plans to harm their neighbor, to gain from their sin. The things they do by day have all been planned by night. In verse five, Maitreya says, you will have no one stretching permission for you by law. In the 5th chapter, verse 2, it says, If a torturer is called a liar, he will lose. There's no hope for justice. There's no hope for a fair deal, a good deal in our places. In this society, where everyone is full of thievery, swindling, and stealing from others, in a society full of liars, They have no wish to do business with us. Therefore, do not see them. They have no wish to do business with us. In the 6th verse, Those who love to sin and hate to hear God's Word are madder. Maybe you try to exhort a friend or neighbor who may be small. God doesn't want you to do that. What's the first response? Don't judge me. If they do not see God concerning these things, they are so stupid. How would you explain that? So the people of Micah's day were just like me. They wanted Micah and other prophets to be silent. These people gave us God's word. By God's word, through God's service, by God's truth, to bring these people, God's people, to you. These people are a warning from God through the religion of God. It was God's tool to make these people strange. And I'll say one last thing. You see, when people are informed about sin, God is merciful. So the next time you find yourself irritated by someone warning you about your sin, stop. Consider. What is the end of my life? Well, what are they doing? bring God's blessing on me? Or is this something that will bring God's blessings on me? The Book of Proverbs often convinces those who are able not only to receive rebuke, but to correct their way of life. Please do our part in the promise. If you look at the Bible, you can see these expressions. When God is punished or punished, people who repent are people who repent. On the other hand, this is what God says. This is what the Holy Spirit says. A century later, the prophet Jeremiah was speaking God's Word to Judah, and they, too, did the same. A hundred years later, the prophet Jeremiah preached to the people of Israel. And if you turn to Jeremiah 26, you see that the people wanted to kill Jeremiah. They were just tired of him at this time. And as you turn to Jeremiah 26, verses 18 and 19, you want to see that even though here in chapter 2, Micah 2, they were not listening. There were those who were listening. Jeremiah chapter 26, verses 18 and 19. Jeremiah. So case history, remember Micah of Marsha, that's the guy who prophesied in the days of Hezekiah, the king of Judah, that's Micah one more. And he spoke to all the people of Judah saying, thus the Lord of hosts has said, Zion will be clouded as a field, Jerusalem will become ruins, the mountain of the houses will as high places of the forest. Did Hezekiah, the king of Judah, and all Judah put him to death? Did he not hear the Lord, and the truth of the favor of the Lord? And the Lord changed his mind. And about the misfortune which he pronounced to himself, but we, our community, both revolt against ourselves for the sake of our children. Jeremiah 26, verse 18. In the time of King Hezekiah of Judah, a three-year-old boy named Micah, who we see here, prophesied to all the people of Judah that the king of the army would speak like this, and that he would be struck by lightning, and that Jerusalem would be destroyed, and that the whole of the temple would be like a forest. But when King Hezekiah of Judah and all the people of Judah killed him, Didn't Hesediah warn the Jehovah's Witnesses, and the Jehovah's Witnesses turned away from the disaster that had befallen them? It is our duty to make our lives greater by doing this. Amen. Now, what I want us to also see in 1, 2, and 3 is not only the quality and performance of singing, There are some particulars here that brought God's anger upon them. These people presumed of God's patience and mercy. Verse 7, verse 7 says, is it not said, O house of Jacob, this is your representation? Do not my voice be but to my mouth. These people who are singing, their voices are not my voice. No, that's not what I said. But when we look at God's words and measure them, we find that the church is the same religion. Secondly, don't become an enemy of God by harming people. Maybe we've heard you about that. First, you say you're not a Christian. In these verses God says, you become my enemy by hurting me. And then I'm going to read that in chapter 3 verses 1 through 4, we see the rulers of Judah took advantage of the less powerful, in essence feeding off the very bones of the poor needy. Chapter 3, verse 2 says, they hate good, they love evil. And so they are reproved, the leaders, in verse 9, these ones who abhor justice and twist everyone's choice. The point is civil leaders should administer justice, not injustice. So we've got rulers, but then we have the prophets who praise God's people who were deceitfully speaking of peace that God did not promise. This is chapter three, verses five and six. These were people saying, peace, peace, deceitfully to people. If you want God's blessing, give people money. Give us money, verse 11. They were the first prosperity preachers. They struck for a price, verse 11. So both the priests, and the Pope, and Truman, they were in the ministry for money, not for life. Bible, handout, decent shoes, servants of God who spoke for God, but the love of money. I do want us to see in verse chapter three, verse seven, that those who sought God's healing will be promised by God's hands. The seers will be ashamed. The binders will burst. They will cover their mouths because they saw God's power. But if you look at the 7th chapter of the book of Psalms, you will see that the people who seek God's help will be perplexed because God will not answer them. These were people who were supposed to provide God's wisdom and direction, but now their own foolishness is on display. I want us to see in the next chapter, chapter 4, chapter 5, that there is If you try to judge me, I will tear youself 40 times. You too, right now. You too, conscience. You too, conscience. We see the mighty form one day of the Lord. When? This Friday. After the judgment of the wicked, the Lord Jesus Christ sits on his throne. In this millennial kingdom, the nations of the world come to pay homage to the King of kings and Lord of Lords. We see that in verse 2, as the nations come to pay homage to the Lord of Lords. just as kings humbly came to learn. will come to learn at the feet of King Jesus, just like the Queen of Sheba came to inquire of King Solomon in the first year of Solomon. Today, as things are happening in Israel, it's good to know that one day souls will be given to fellowships at the peace of Amherst. Today, as things are happening in Israel, it's good to know that one day souls will be given to fellowships at the peace of Amherst The Prince of Peace keeps the peace with the line of iron. And as Micah 5 says in this one, And of course, we have just read in our reading about the birth of Jesus Christ. In chapter 5, the terrible sins committed by Jonah, do they damage? Now, we are going to talk about the Assyrians. The story of Jonah and the Assyrians is about the destruction of God's kingdom. So we've got the second coming, the end, chapter 1, and then we have a little humor in chapter 4. Why do we have chapter 4 in chapter 4? Why do we put that in? Why do we put those here? I want to do this quickly because I know time is running out. But there is a reason for the moment. When you're under God's chastisement, you need to know that the punishment is so painful to you, it's too late. It's too late. Now, everyone, here, God is disciplining the people of God, and at the same time, He is giving glory to the Kingdom of Heaven. In today's reality, God is disciplining the people of God before the Kingdom of Heaven was established. That disciplining can be harsh and difficult. So the agony like childbirth, chapter 4, verse 13, this same painfulness is what God's loving hand basically pushing us from our sins into His blessings when we painfully go into exile and despair of what we're finally going to do. So the moment you convert to verse 10, this daughter of Zion, there you will be blessed. There the Lord will acknowledge you. The woman who is giving birth now is having a hard time at the moment. But as she will have joy when she gives birth to the child later, she will have the grace of God's salvation even if she has a hard time now. And so, Mark 4, verse 13 says, this afflicted nation is actually transformed by its suffering. And so, God's work now becomes that the sufferer becomes the afflictor. It brings suffering to an evil nation. It's used to punish the good. If you look at the 4th and 13th verses, you can see that this country is having a hard time. God is using this country as a tool to punish the people of God. And so, finally, my advice would be to keep God on top of your creative senses. The sins that people repeatedly get, generation after generation, are strong. And that's the only Abrahamic covenant that God allowed Abraham to keep. And that was a human covenant. This is a shower of meditation. A shower of meditation. Yes. That's it. So many people do not know Jesus Christ. Today, most people do not know Jesus Christ. When the chapter 7 verse 2 tells us a godly person has perished from the kingdom of heaven, It will be the dark that will shine upon you, the darkness of violence and justice in your heart. So expect God to be merciful to you and to your faithfulness. If you look at verse 7, verse 2, it says, There is no good person in this world, and all are evil. There is no good person in this world, and all are evil. There is no good person in this world, and all are evil. There is no good person in this world, and all are evil. There is no good person in this world, and all are evil. There is no good person in this world, and all are evil. There is no good person in this world, and all are evil. There is no good person in this world, and all are evil. As for me, I will watch the second recording. I will wait for the third one. In a sense, I'm not afraid. I'm sensitive. That's it. In the midst of darkness and gloom, I say in the 7th verse. I only cry out, Yehovah, and receive God who rescues me. My God, listen to me. God has our hope. God is Judge- of all the earth and of His people.
God judges His people. When God corrects us, He is correcting us in love with the offer of mercy. Both the Second Coming of Christ and Present chastisement are reasons for us to draw nigh to God now and to love our neighbors as ourselves!
