today is a special message. It's going to be in two places in your outline that you have there. I only put it in one thing of scripture in there. But it's going to be in two places. The first one will be in Proverbs. And every one of you mothers are a Proverbs 31 mother this morning. But out of all of those verses, I have a favorite verse that is on here. that the reason I picked this picture is because at Proverbs 31, verse 26, if you can turn over there, if not, don't worry about it, I'll read it. And if you're looking for Proverbs, and you turn in the Bible, if you've done, you went to Ecclesiastes and you passed Proverbs, go back a little bit to the left. But in Proverbs 31, verse 26, and I'm not gonna ask y'all to stand again this morning, we got our mothers, there's no one that's gonna outstand them. They're standing tall this morning, and we're so proud of all their mothers this morning. Even for the reading of the word of God, we're not gonna ask you to stand because our mothers are the ones that stood this morning when no one else could stand for us. And I'm gonna tell you, Brooke Campbell, I thank God as each and every one of us have had precious mothers in past days. All of us can reminisce right now. If you still got your mother, you're really blessed. We know that one of these days, we're going to be breaking the 9th. Proverbs, chapter 31, verse 26. This, out of all the beautiful things that Proverbs says about a Proverbs 31 blower, this verse speaks really volumes to me. It says, I'm going to tell you right there. And then, if you would turn over to Ephesians chapter 5. Ephesians chapter 5. Let me hold you in place there. Ephesians chapter 5, verse 25 and verses 1, 2, and 3 of Ephesians chapter 6. Ephesians chapter 5. Verse 25, because this is something that's important that reminds all of us men. Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for. And then skip all the way down to chapter 6, verses 1, 2, and 3, where he speaks to all of us. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right, honored by Father and That may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. Father, we thank you for the reading of the word of God this morning, and that every one of us have been influenced by our mothers, Lord, in such a wise way that we're so thankful. Lord, even times when I thought she was wrong, she still ended up being right. And Lord, it's almost like she could predict the future because she already had went to school in areas that she began to share those things with me. And Lord, I want to thank you for that wisdom of mothers, that we just want to, Lord, we just want to recognize all of our mothers today. And Lord, for you knew how smart that every one of us would be lost because today I'm talking about, Lord, how essential, how essential every one of us, the most important thing that all of us need in this world today is our So thank you for wonderful mothers today. And Lord, I thank you for going to Calvary. Lord, you've given us all the things that no one could ever ask for or no one could ever that we recognize all of our mothers at Peoples Valley Baptist Church and we ask you Lord to continue to bless their lives with the wisdom and all the wonderful joy that they have brought in our lives and to our families this morning. Lord, thank you. As we go our separate ways, I pray that time will be taken to recognize for the rest of this day and on into several days of our future how blessed that we all love their families and that have given so much of their love to each and every one of us. In Jesus' mighty name, amen. I think our son's two lessons talking about the reader was talking about how they remember back in the day that they would go out on the porch, you know, at night when you get dusk and dawn, and you know, all kids would be playing at night, and maybe Paula, that was in Next thing you know, Mama's voice would be ringing out. We'd hear her call for us to come to the house. And so I thank God, every one of us, her place is something that's irreplaceable in every stage of our life today. Because I thank God, today we talk about Mother, the essential need of life. Because she is the essential need of life. Every one of us here at this point, grows, it makes her the most important person in all of our lives. Now dad, father's day is coming up, so don't worry, but we'll get to you later on there, man. But I thank God, every one of us, our mothers taught us some hard times can be overcome, but yet that when we lose the battle, eventually we can win those battles. And so I thank God here this morning as we begin to look and realize that as we read about how her strength and All of those are powerful scriptures. I'm looking at them all right now. But that verse 26 of Proverbs 31, she's wise and kind, and she gives helpful, she gives reliable counsel to each and every one of us. Throughout Proverbs, one of the chief attributes of Winston is a gracious and controlled tongue. Because my mom got me on that a million times. I've been that far so far, I didn't have to eat much of it before I was sicker than a dog. I'll give you some practical things that were very, very effective that evening. Every one of us, a virtual woman, opens her mouth and only wisdom comes out. Later on, you can read more about that in Proverbs 10, verse 31. Her testimony was something that was wise about her. Each and every one of you mothers today, even when you correct others, our tongues should be governed by the law of kindness. And that's what mom was always about with us, amen. She teached us and she took the time to carry us and give us the right lessons that we needed in our lives all the time. And she always was aware of our activities. and our companions. I'm going to tell you that because she always asks the right question today, man. You know, God has gifted us with what is often called a woman's intuition. And I'm going to tell you what I was praying about, why it was so real. My mom can tell me some things that I would get into and it would really come to pass because that's the kind of wisdom that mom had. That intuition that mothers, they have that they're gifted with today, man. perception and alarm when something or someone is a threat to the family. It seemed like she could pick up on that. Mom told me one time, she said, you know, as scary as she was, there was an old tornado coming up. And I think, was it, I'm trying to think, I'm looking at my sister, was it her hat or dad's hat that blew off? It was dad's hat that blew off his head and he was running trying to get that and mom was trying to tell him, come on, let's get in the storm shelter right now. And he was worried about getting that hat and bringing it with him. I mean, I didn't do wise, does it mean? I let that thing blow wherever it wants to, baby. But I thank God every one of us today, as we look at real life, that even science has established that biological fact that the Holy Spirit, every one of us, as this alerts us to things in our family that we need to do. Mom's had that wonderful blessing about being made, man, that was good. And so each and every one of us is the basic unit of conceiving, developing, and giving birth to a child. I'm going to tell you, I can't do any of those things. That is something that me and you can't do any of those things, including everybody else in there as well. And because of the unique role in producing the family, a mother has her own particular needs, amen. And so she has her unique role. If you're looking at the outline, I've only got two points today. Normally, I'm a three-pointer. But today, it's going to be just a two-pointer day. And I thank God, when we look and realize of our outline, and if I can get mine back over here in proper, where was that? Amen. I got so much in this thing. Here we go. And I thank God, when you look in there and notice a tackle is there, so I put an S, and sorry if I mis-stamped on that, but I did proofread like you taught me to, so. But what is the essential need of life? Not essential, but what is the essential need of life? Remember the very first thing. is the role, because a mother's role, I think, is one of the most important things, you know. I don't know about you, but there's a lot of mothers that may not have a sign in the kitchen that said, Walker Stewart doesn't live here. But I want you to know, because everybody has a different time. Everybody has something different, amen. Maybe theirs was cleaning the house, and maybe you came by on another day, and it was a little bit messed up. But I think there was some signs I was reading about mothers, One of them was, I was reading about this, it said, a balanced diet is a cookie in each hand. Amen. And so, Lita would love that. Oh, Lita, man, she would make me stop at a store, one of these stores, in a heartbeat for some chocolate chip cookies, amen. That's more important than my goals. But a role of a mother is not easy to fulfill. And so it is a very essential need of life for everyone. Many factors outside of the home influence children. So it's necessary that the mother, now, you know, when you're a mom, I tell you, I was reading about a preacher one time, and he left the church after three years. And somebody said, preacher, why'd you go ahead and leave the church after three years? He said, because I only had three Mother's Day sermons. And he thought that was how important it was. He didn't have nothing else to give if you couldn't preach your Mother's Day sermons. I like this. I was reading a couple of things this weekend. I was reading all the things that moms do. Now mom, listen to this. This is what you do. You get up at basically 5.30 and you get started and you work until 10 o'clock at night. Now I'm going to just hit all. I can't hit all of them. I said that's all. You vacuum it and you wipe it and you wash it. You fold and close. Now I'm going to skip it all the way down. to the end of mowing, doing a little bit of everything, walking the dog, chasing, brushing, dragging out the bed, putting in the bed, and then, I said several because I can't even cover all the things that moms do, but I've got the list here, it's a long one. But, in the end, and yet he still managed to get anything. I want to tell you right now, here they work themselves from 530 to 10 o'clock at night and steal all the things. That's a lot of work, man. They work more than we do. And so a mother must be aware of all the evils that are facing the children that they're under the immediate care of, and she must warn them about all the things. My mom, I tell you, I had to call whenever I left home. When I was in the military, man, I'm gonna tell you, I couldn't even get up to Atlanta that night on the bus, on the Greyhound, before I was calling my mom. Mom wanted to know where I was gonna be. When I got to Fort Manilow, Missouri, Mom wanted to know. When I got to Korea, when I got to Germany, hey, you know what? I always called home, is what I'm trying to say. And home is the place that we always, mother always owes it to her family to have that clear conscience and that soul that's set free by salvation. and a soul that is set free by salvation through Jesus Christ. It goes back to that day when we were singing about the old country church, man. Mom took us to church, did she Sue? And so I thank God. She was our guide and she had that genuine life of Bible that we wanted to have, amen. the ones that lead us in that direction. A mother's role, amen, that does all of those things. I thank God you'll see all the things that I wrote as a subtopic, amen. A mother needs to have a society on her mind, you know why? Because she's the one that changes things, amen. I'm glad. She's the one that does our clothes that we have when we go to school, amen. So everything is all So a mother needs to have God in her heart is what I'm saying. And I thank God for mothers that do that today. And a mother needs to have a husband by her side. You say, man, not today. There's so many of them that don't. But I want to tell you, a mother, every one of us, if we've got that true friendship, and if you don't have that, I pray that you'll find that is what I'm saying this morning. Because that makes us stronger. And today we ain't never been more plagued by the enemy coming against our homes today. and that devil that he's working against all of us. Some of us, we have that attack in our family, and the only thing that we can do is it breaks our heart. One of the newest things I've been doing is doing a Bible study. I have a lady that wrote a book. Are we there yet? And the lady's out of California, and I've been doing it on, here lately, a couple nights a week. And I've got three sessions, I think, that's on there. It'll tell you a good thing, because that book was wrote by a mother that I'm giving that class out on. And I'm doing it on different nights during the week, nothing in particular. But I'm going to tell you, there's a lot of wisdom from that mother while we're there yet. Because I don't care if you're here, if you've been married 30-something years, some of us are still working in that area. I know a lot of you got 40 plus years here that you are a tremendous testimony to all of us, amen. And yet we're still working on that because what we do is we get two things mixed up. Men want respect, and women want love. But what men think is that they get to thinking whether a woman wants respect, because that's what a man wants. You know, she gets to thinking about love, and she wants to be lovey-dovey with her husband, and he's thinking about being respectful. And all of a sudden, all these things begin to cross up. But thank God for mothers. Because, I thank God, a mother's role needs to have children under her guidance. And I believe that is one of the things. Somebody said, why are mothers so smart? She answers a son's question. I thank God, that's why computers are so smart in other words. The Bible requires that children obey and respect their parents according to Ephesians chapter 6, amen. The basic need of a mother is for her children to love and obey her, amen. The woman goes to the doctor and she talks about how much pain it is in delivering and having a child. And the only thing that I know is they were talking about if you could do something like this, if you could take your lower lip and begin to pull it all the way down, and if you were able to pull that lower lip all the way over your head, you could All right, now, I'm going to tell you, every one of us, that's a painful experience. But I thank God, here we all have kids that sometimes can be rebellious, and they force them over sometimes in a lot of hard situations. They're met by God, by that human spirit of that mother, by that loving heart of the husband, and by the obedient mind of that child. That's how it should be. And so what is essential need is a mother for the secular and the closed. I know for y'all it won't be too long, but amen, I thank God. And that is where home is. Of all the places, we go back, even to Alabama, there's some homes that are no longer there. There's just nothing but a field out there. And I remember, uh, uh, Ma, uh, Lyman, uh, and we'd go out, and May, I'm gonna tell you, she was an ideal mother. That it was just an old house out in the field, and that house ain't even there no more. But where that house was at, that was a mother's residence. Every one of you moms today, you make that home what it is. You make it a residence, amen. God ordained the essential place for motherhood, amen, within that structure of our society. And so we can't do without it. We can't do without our mothers today, amen. Those that are trying to do so, they're suffering a lot. And God, she's the one that helps us have the morals that we have in America today, amen. That exemplifies the biblical standards of holiness that we have in America across the country today. A mother's residence, amen, is needed by her children as well. Because I think God, you know what sometimes she said, you better not be wearing that to school today, amen. I'm gonna tell you, even us men couldn't wear certain things as well. give us the right proper life that we need. A mother that's needed by her husband. Notice I've had to repeat some things because those are some very, very important things. that a husband needs her to assist. I thank God I wouldn't be as strong if I didn't have a good woman in my life and also a good mother in my life. I wouldn't even make the choices that I made today. But I thank God my mother signed up for me early to go into the military because I already wanted to go for that education. I got an education from And so I thank God that was one of the things that I wanted to do, Amen. And I thank God also a mother's needed by the church as well. That is one of the most powerful things today. Me and I don't know about you, but the mothers are always going to need it. They're always faithful about all the things that they do. We can go all the way back over to Lois in Timothy, amen. And I thank God, mothers that learn the biblical truths and share them with their family and with their friends. That's why we're here today. That's why our names have been written in the language Book of Life because our mothers and fathers, that they cared enough about us, that her time and her talent, they're used in many functions of the congregation. And so I thank God they follow us. I wrote down a couple of sayings and I told you I'm not going to be real long because I'm talking about mothers. And I want to tell you, each and every one of you, everybody said, man, my mom is the best. And all of us can probably say that if we begin to stand up and tell stories about all of our moms. One of the things that I wrote down this past week was I brought a couple of funny things down there. What would moms say if they were biblical moms? And one of them I wrote down was, Saxton, get your head out of that light because you don't know where it's beating. Amen. You know, that little kid's always getting into everything. But I thank God. Another one I wrote down is, Judas, have you been in my purse again? Amen. And so I thank God. If you know the Bible, you know it's in there. Every one of us today. I thank God of all the saints for mothers today. One of the things that I like is Jesus stopped working on that old wood and come in and eat. You spend your life on that wood if your father asked you to. And he did ask you to, didn't he? And so I thank God. God has placed a mother in the life of every person, yet some circumstances may not allow certain people to benefit from mother's tender concern. But blessed is that mother who shares the truth and the life of God, with each and every one of us. Amen. I thank God. And the very last thing that I said, God has placed a mother in the life of every person. Again, again, I want to read it. Yes, some circumstances may not allow certain people to benefit from a mother's gender concern. Well, I want to tell you, I hope and pray your mom in some time. I hope that you pick up the phone and try to make amends to those things. Because mom has influenced me in so many ways, in so many areas of my life, amen. Because what is the essential need of life is a mother's role. That's what's kept everything going in America the way it is today. A mother's residence, because where she says it's home, that's really home for every one of us, amen. has given us God that was in her heart. And I thank God. She set an example. If you've got a husband out there today that would stay by your side, amen. Children under her guidance, amen. These are the things, but I thank God the church today, we're so thankful for mothers that are here this morning that have made a great difference, amen. But the last thing, but blessed is that mother. I want you to get over in the line to honor our mothers this morning and to get up and let them know how much, not with just the meal, but the day, if you've got your mother that you can go to here in just a few minutes. As we're playing here, won't you go under her neck or right there? Won't you let her know how much you love her, how much she loves you? and how much she cares for what you have been going through in your life because she wants the very best for you.
