I have something to show you as we study God's Word, and I've done this in other videos a long time ago, but I haven't done it lately, so I'm going to do this. The Bible has many translations. It's been translated in 3500 languages, I believe, 35,000 languages maybe. I can't remember now. I have to look at my notes. The King James Version was about the 10th or 11th translation into the English language. And it was done in 1611 for the Church of England. It was translated for the Church of England to defend themselves against the Baptists and defend themselves against the Church of Rome. Now the reason why they say the Church of Rome didn't want anybody to have a Bible, they only conceded in printing the Douay version of the Bible because the Baptists were preaching the Word of God, and the Catholic Church is all nothing but tradition, and nothing but feast and rigmarole. The same thing with the Church of England. But the Church of England, a lot of their people were going to the Baptists, and so they had to get a translation that would be biased toward their religion and against the Baptists, and a translation that would keep the are literally attract the Catholics because they... Had a little interruption there, sorry. So the Catholics would be attracted to the Word of God, and since the Catholic didn't propagate the Word of God, they would be more likely to come into the Church of England. See, Church of England went back to Catholicism one time, under Mary, Queen of Scots. They went back into Catholicism and they started persecuting all the Baptists, the reign of Bloody Mary, okay? Well, this translation here, Here it is. That is a page from the original 1611 King James Bible. It's literally out of that Bible from the first year of publication. That page goes back to 1611. Now that's the translation into English. This is the Lamentation of Jeremiah. By the way, the King James Version was never supposed to be printed without the Apocrypha. Now here's another, actually four pages. That one's two pages. This one's four pages. This is from the translation that Theodore Besom made 1628. 1628. He was John Calvin's student. The leaf from the Holy Bible, Biblia Sacra, published in 1628 by the famous Trent House of Gulamine and Johnson. This leaf was a very rare Bible. Since the Bible was complete, we took pages out of it and we gave this away to different supporters of discovertheword.com. Theodore Beza, a John Calvin Star student, and one of the greatest Latin scholars of all time, and he translated the Bible from Greek and Hebrew into Latin. Jerome did that from about three, well, he finished the Latin Vulgate, in the year 405. Now let's go and study the building up of Christian lives or the maturing of the saints. In 412 and 413 here we have προς τὸν καταρτισμὸν τὸν ἀγιὸν ἡς ἐργὼν διεκόνιας ἡς οἰκεδομένην τοῦ σωματὸς τοῦ Χριστοῦ. And we have a little preposition there, προς, from page 346 in the analytical Greek lexicon, toward or for the purpose of, It basically, Prose here, takes the place of Hina, in order of that, or for the purpose of, ton, kata, katar, tismon. That means to adjust down, to adjust down, to shape down, to adjust down, perfecting. That's the idea. Now you go out and Gun stocks are made out of a lot of times very hard wood, walnut, whatever, English walnut, black walnut. You go out there and you just take a big piece of wood and you work it down until you cut a groove in it for a barrel and a place for the trigger to go in. You smooth the outside of it up and you turn it into a masterpiece of wood. And basically that's what God does with us, is that He takes a piece of rock, a rock head like me, a chunk of rock, and He whittles it down, gets all the bad things off, and makes it conform to whatever purpose He has in your life. You may become a pastor's wife, You may become a pastor. You may be a child of God, a child of a pastor, a preacher's kid, a PK, and grow up and honor and glorify the Lord in your service, whatever you do. You may be raised in a home of absolutely unbelievers and heathens, and yet God can take you out and whittle you down and make the most beautiful Christian. in this neighborhood. Cata and artismo. For the perfecting, for the maturing, for the adjusting down, perfecting. Ton Hagion. Ton there is the anti-Protestant indefinite article and Hagion is holy ones. Now what does a holy one mean? Do you remember what it means, Holy one means what? Not of earth, not of earth. You take an earthling, an earthling, that is everything, a worldling, an earthling, and you take him and you whittle him down to where he is adjusted in to the work of God's service. Holy ones, not of earth, come from alpha and then gay means earth. of the Holy Ones unto the work. We're left with that word ace there, page 119. And it's a preposition, extension of the limitation of the thought of verbal acts and how it's working. And it means for the purpose of, the complete purpose of, on top, bottom, middle, in between and through. That's the idea of it. For the work of, for the product of employment. People will grow up, now in America today, we've got a crooked, upside down society this time. Everybody wants to be a CEO. Nobody wants to work. When I grew up, I grew up working in a cotton field. I learned to walk picking cotton in a cotton field. I learned to walk, do you understand that? I was a baby when I was out there picking cotton. And I chopped wood, I did everything that I did all kinds of work when I was a kid. I never really had a childhood, I just worked all the time. A child of God is not raised to be a drone. A drone is a bee that only does is fertilize the queen and there's one of them there is all that's needed, but they live off of everybody else. People go to church and they live off of everybody else. They don't teach. They don't work. They don't give. They just show up for the camaraderie to be going someplace on Sunday or Sunday night or Wednesday night. They just show up. The Lord wants you to work. He wants you to do something. Do something. Well, what was the first thing you do? Well, if you're a mom and daddy, you can raise your kids in fear and admonition of the Lord and teach them. I went to church one time and I preached a sermon on Satan's path, hell, the reason for hell. A woman asked me, why does God let Satan do what he's doing and all this kind of stuff. And I spent a whole hour answering her question. The guy who came up after me said, why did you waste your time doing that? Just preach a little bit about Jesus and let us go home. I said, I do this so that your children won't become Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses, so they don't go off in Buddhism, so they don't go off in some transcendental meditation, New Age philosophy or whatever. I said, they need to know what the Bible teaches and why it teaches it and what's going on. People wander around out there, they go to go to church and they're going to sing songs and it becomes a concert instead of a church service. and they don't hear the preaching of God's Word. There needs to be preaching more. Evangelism is very important. But sometimes you don't have any lost people in your church service. Maybe you need to feed the sheep, as Paul told the pastors. Feed the sheep, as Jesus told Peter. Feed the sheep. Feed the baby sheep, the little lambs. Maturing lambs and feed the old lambs, or old sheep. You need to feed everybody at every age. And don't worry about children. Children can learn a lot more than you think they do. They can learn more than their pastor sometimes. My daughter was in my classes all my life. I tried to encourage her to go someplace else. Dad, I want to be with you. I want to be with you, Dad. And she'd go and listen to some other teacher teach and go on with these young people, and she'd disagree with them. She'd say, you know what you're talking about, because they didn't. The problem was they didn't know what they were talking about. She didn't like it. She didn't get along. She had learned a foundation early in her life. I tried to get her to go to meet other young people, to whatever, but maybe I did her a disservice. I don't know. But I had taught her the Word of God first. She could read and write Greek before she knew English, because she watched me teach in classes. Same thing with Hebrew. When she went to school in kindergarten, she knew Lakota, the Indian language. She knew Greek. She knew Hebrew and some English, too. But a lot of times, she would give them the answer in a different language. Teach your children. Teach your children. Teaching your children will keep them from going off out there in the twilight zone. Teaching young people, they'll grow up and be mature teachers, so they can teach something, so they can hold the church together. Teaching, building, maturing of the saints. Not being babies all the time, just the milk and bread, or bread and water, sermon. Preach the Word of God. Preach the Word. unto the work. That word air gone there, it's a product of employment. And the deaconious. Deaconious means stirring up dirt. When I worked out in the oil fields, Maryland's dad, he worked in the oil fields. He was vice president of Mobile Oil Company, but he worked up from digging ditches on up to there. And when the big superintendent was on his way out there, you know, we were out there in the oil fields, and most of the time we'd work ourselves half to death. But occasionally we were sent in cement or something where all you had to do was wait. And then you cleaned up the draw works and everything. You cleaned the rig up when you didn't have time before. But sometimes, maybe you had worked 12 hours already and were working another 12 hours and your next 12 hour unit, which would make 24, then you have to work the other 36 hours. And you go lay down someplace and go to sleep for a while. Didn't have time to go home to eat or sleep. And that happened back in those days. But when here comes the drilling superintendent, the pusher comes along, they said, get up and stir up a little dust. Come on, boys, get out there and stir up a little dust. Looks like you're doing something. Stirring up dust, diakonia, that means to work. That means to serve. And women and men can be diakonias. The Bible talks about men ordained as a deacon, but that doesn't mean women can't get out there and work and teach in Sunday schools and whatever they need to do. All of us have a job to do. Theoconium. Ace, oiket, domain. Ace again, extension or limitation of thought or verbal action. Sign of the direct object. You work, the reason why you work, the reason why you mature is so you can oike domain. Oike domain. Oike domain means to build up. It means to build up, the dome up. Domain on the end of that means the dome. And oike on the front of it, it means to build up the house of God. Put a roof on it. Put a roof on it. When you preach and you teach, and you teach God's people God's word, Then, you protect it. It's like an umbrella for false doctrine. I worked at Valley Baptist Church for 20 years there. And I taught advanced theology, Greek and Hebrew, and Sunday school classes. I taught everything that you would teach in a seminary. They got it. I got people in there that were gangsters that didn't even know how to read and write. And you ought to have seen them just load up on the Word and drop the Word of God. They learned the doctrines of God's Word. And they taught. They could teach. They couldn't hardly read and write, but they could teach. Because they learned the lesson. And they built up churches. They went out and taught people. They went into the prisons. They went into the juvenile detention centers. They went everywhere teaching God's Word. Building people up. Getting them saved. Then getting them baptized. Building up. Doming up the house of God. Doming up two somatos. The body of Christ. The body of Christ. Building up. You get people saved. And salvation. Now let's look at salvation for a minute. Salvation is not something... Baptism isn't the admission into the family of God. Baptism isn't that. The Lord's Supper is not a vehicle to grace. Baptism is not a vehicle to grace. How do people come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ? You know, you don't really have to teach people what sin is, they know what it is. They know what stealing is, and lying, and cheating, and just all the terrible things, adultery, promiscuity, lusting, drugs, alcohol, all of this. They know that that's bad. But you tell them that there is a way away from that. I'll never forget when I went to my uncle that I hated so bad because he abused me so much when I was growing up. Almost killed me. Stole everything that I ever had. Sold it for wine. He was a drunk Indian. And anyway, he got diabetes from drinking wine all his life and they cut his leg off and he had gangrene and they didn't expect him to live. I found out about it, he was up in the hospital and I went up to the hospital and proceeded to tell him how bad he was. I said, you know Bill? I said, you killed three people that I know about and you got by with it. Cut one of them's head off, beat one of them to death, you stabbed a man, you've done all these bad things, you stole everything, you're hurting little children. I said, little children? I said, you hit me with an ax handle and almost killed me. Stopped my heart. Couldn't breathe. For nothing. I said, you know what? I said, God has got a place for you. It's called hell. And I said, you're going there. And he started crying. He was a real dark Indian, real dark, but he had gray eyes from the Paul side of the family, which was Scots. They had these gray eyes. It was weird to see these Indians with these gray eyes. Anyway, I looked at him, those gray eyes were just crying and crying and crying, tears were coming down there. And I said, well Bill, I had some good news for you. You know how bad you are, and I know how bad you are. I saw you do all this stuff, I know you did it. But I said, Jesus Christ died for sinners like you. I said, it's different. Now you can't go out there and do what you've been doing all your life. After the Lord saved you, your life changes. You realize how bad you are? He said, I'm sorry Jimmy, I don't want to go to hell. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I said, well it's not escaping from hell. Do you want the Lord to save your soul and forgive you of your sins? He said, yes, yes, yes. I was upset. I wanted to see him go to hell. This is a bad man, real bad, bad all his life. terrible to his family, beat his brothers and sisters with a black knife whip, shot his brother's dog just to watch his brother die or cry over that dog dying. Bad. This man was bad. I couldn't think of any other just place for him to be than hell, and I knew what he did to me. You couldn't get close to him and pull your ear off or pull your hair out. He was bad. You stayed away from him. Well, I prayed with him. You know what, the Lord changed his life. He rejuvenated his soul, his spirit. He was no longer that evil man that you had to walk away from and stay away from. You couldn't get close to him. Old man in a wheelchair with one leg now, and I'd go by and visit with him. And he said, Jimmy, please forgive me for all I did to you when you were growing up, all the bad things I did. I said, well, the Lord forgave me. I forgive you now. I said, I know you've changed. I know that God's forgiven you. He's rejuvenating your life. And I said, God bless. He gave me a little bit of money, and he doesn't have much. Tell me he prayed for me. And he went to church with his sister, and he was baptized, and joined the church. And that old man changed. He changed. He was not a wino anymore. He didn't hurt people anymore. He didn't steal anymore. He couldn't walk into your house without stealing something. That's how bad it was. We were poor, and he tried to steal something from our house. Came in my house one time when I was gone, and my grandmother had died. She got killed, and she was my mother, basically. He was in there stealing her food. I said, what are you doing? He said, Dottie gave it to me, and boy, I went all mad. He was up there in the hospital when my grandmother was dying. And he told me, the meat wagon's coming, she's dying, she's dying, and all this stuff, just tormenting me. She was my world. The only person that ever loved me. And she was dying, and he was making fun of me. That's how bad it was. But God took that worthless, horrible individual and changed his life. That's the plan of salvation at work. That's salvation. He knew he was a sinner. I didn't have to tell him he was a sinner, he knew it. And he knew he was going to hell, but he knew that Jesus Christ paid for his sins. Years later, I found the Bible that his father had given to him with a plan of salvation, and it won 1903 when he was born. And in 1921, he wanted to be a preacher. I said, Bill, Willie Neeson made good servants. They called him Willie. There's a lot of houses that don't have a good roof on them. There's a lot of churches that don't have a good roof on them. because they don't preach the real plan of salvation. Did you mourn for your sins? Yes, God will forgive you. Did you mourn for them? And young people, you know, I've seen so many times with vacation bibles going and stuff, children come in there and And they make a false profession of faith because they don't know what sin is. They don't really understand because they're not even to the age of accountability and they'll be baptized and go and join the church and go on for years and years and years like that. Sometimes they wake up and realize they're not saved. They just look forward like everybody else did. A house without a roof. A worthless dome. Preachers need to preach the word of God. Preach it. Build up churches. Protect churches. Protect the family of God and the church of the living God. No matter how good a foundation is, it's got to have a roof on the house. And that roof is preaching the word of God. 413, Macri Cata Contanti Soman. I think that's a little adverb of time. Page 268, until we shall arrive, now look at that word, kata, katante somen. First person plural, first person, subjunctive active. And in subjunctive mode it may or may not happen. I guarantee if you don't have a preacher preaching the word of God, you'll never come into the unity of faith. Everybody will believe something different. Pastors used to come up to me over there at Valley Baptist Church. They said, we can't do anything with this person. See if you can get them straightened out. Their theology is messed up. I'd get in there, and I'd try. Sometime I would tell them, I said, why are you coming here when you don't believe what we teach, and you disagree, and you're trying to turn other people away from the Word of God? I said, why are you here? Well, we got pretty girls. We got pretty guys. A handsome guy and pretty girls, is that why you go to church? Sometimes they do. Just a meat house, that's all. A church ought to be the pillar and ground of the truth. Until we shall arrive, cada, anta, taco, the ones, all, poi, that's not a plural masculine definite article, and then pontes, the ones, all, unto, eis, tein, Hino teto, unto oneness, unto unity. If you don't know what God is, if you don't know who the Son of God is, if you don't know what the Holy Spirit is, if you don't know what the Father is, if you don't know what the church is or baptism is, how can you come into the unity of faith? We all just love Jesus. Well, we all love Jesus because He forgave us. When you really say you love Jesus because He forgave you, you should be in hell except for Jesus. We all love Jesus. But can we tell each other, can we hold the church in the unity of faith? I know a church one time that, and I'm an old man, so I've seen a lot of things in my life. I love preaching at that church. And I go there and preach for them pretty often sometimes. Anyway, they called a pastor. And he didn't have any foundation. And they got a Jehovah Witness in that church. Jehovah Witness doctrine. And screwed up the whole theology of the whole church. And the churches fell apart. Because they didn't have a pastor to say, that's wrong. That's not right. Jesus is not the Archangel Michael. Jesus is not a son of God. He is the Son of God. See, these things are very important. Instead of stopping, staying, trying, and getting this straightened out, many just left the church. Because the church no longer had a dome on it, a roof on it. The oneness of the faith. There's one faith, one Lord, one baptism. Remember? Or one kind of baptism. It's not for the forgiveness of sins, it's not a vehicle of grace. For the oneness of the faith, and of the kai te epinosios. The full knowledge, the complete knowledge. The ability to discern and judge as far as doctrine and faith and practice goes. Until the full knowledge of the Son of God. Who is the Son of God? Well, He's not just a prophet. He's not just a good man. He's not a philosopher. He is God in flesh. We not know who Jesus is. He's not the Archangel Michael. He's not a good prophet. He's not our elder brother as in the Mormon church. You ask some people and church members, are Mormons saved? Are Mormons Christian? Well, sure they're saved, they believe in God. No, they're not saved. They don't believe in the God that you believe in. Evidently, maybe you do. We don't know who God is. God is not Adam in the Garden of Eden, but over this creation, over this world, over this planet. God is the creator of all things, Genesis 1 and 1. Full knowledge of the Son of God. Unto an ace, again, extension of the limitation of the thought of verbal action, that little preposition there, page 190. Unto a man, Andra. Kion, mature. A man that is mature is full grown. Sometimes people raise their children to be children until they're 30 or 40 or 50 years old. They never grow up. And sometimes in church, People never grow up. They never mature. They're just babies all the time. You can't get up and preach an evangelistic sermon on Sunday morning, just a little bread and water sermon, and feed the sheep. You need to dig deeper than that. I remember some of these gangsters. I really pastored some gangsters. They would come to me and they'd say, you know, Brother Jim, it's just like going to college. It's like going to school. I never cared anything about school, but I've learned more about the world and about everything in the church. I've learned about God. I've learned about history. I've learned about the Bible. I've learned about the church history, the history of the church. I've learned about theology. I've learned about the doctrines of the Bible. All of this I learned. One of them did a little contracting, and he was up by Beggarsville College, working on a professor's house up there. And he started talking about history, and the Bible, and science. And the professor was really intrigued when he said, where did you go to college? He said, I learned that in church. Really? You learned that in church? I learned that in church. A man mature unto the measure, the metron, There's the word major. Grow up in Christ. Come to the major of the Heliakias, of the stature, the full, complete stature of the fullness of Christ. The stature of the fullness that play all mottos. Fullness. of Christ. Do you really know Christ? Do you really know Him? Is He your Savior? If He's your Savior, learn about Him. Learn how to communicate about Him to others. Learn more than just the little basics. Feed the world with the knowledge of Christ. Feed the world with the knowledge of Christ. Our Father, we send this message out for Your honor and glory. Please use it. Please touch people's life with it. Please build up your church. Build up the family of God. Please forgive me where I failed you. And use this message wherever it goes in the world. In Jesus' name I pray.
