The Green Tree

These words by Christ are only in the Gospel of Luke. They have both a primary warning to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and a secondary future warning to all who die without Christ. We see here:

1. False Religious Excitement Rebuked
   Emotional excitement is not the same a true repentance. Christ desires not our sympathy,but our love and obedience.
   2.A Reversed Blessing
   While Christ declares a blessing on the barren womb, it should not be taken as a general blessing for all women. The Biblical bases for marriage is to rear children. Gen.1:28; 9:1; Psa.113:9; 127:3
   3.A Warning against the False Idea by Sinners that they can Escape God's Punishment of Sin. Gen.3:8; Rev.6:16; I Pet.4:18; II Pet.2:9
