This section gives a look at how to record sermons using a digital voice recorder.
We recommend this as the easiest, fastest, and most economical method of getting sermons on the site.
Today's digital voice recorders are relatively inexpensive and because they are portable, they can record conveniently
in any setting (church, special meetings, open-air, etc). The recorded audio can be quickly transferred to
a computer and then converted to the MP3 format suitable for SermonAudio.

Summary of steps:
- Use a digital voice recorder with a lapel mic or a line-in from your existing sound system to record.
- Easily transfer the audio file to your computer.
- Use any tool to convert the audio file to MP3 files.
- All MP3 files are encoded at 16kbps bitrate (HIFI: 64kbps) but you can upload them at any bitrate and we'll auto-convert!
- Use the Submit Sermon form to submit the sermon details and then upload the MP3!
TIP: For an example of a well-encoded MP3 sermon, please listen to the audio for this sermon.
Note the volume level and the audio quality. If you can get your encoded audio to sound like this when you're done then you're on the right track.

The following screen shots will take you through the
process of transferring the recorded audio FROM your digital voice recorder TO your computer (using the Sony Digital Recorder as an example).
TRANSFER AUDIO FROM VOICE RECORDER
The first step is to actually record the audio into the digital voice recorder (you can use a lapel mic for best results).
Then, you can transfer the audio as a WAV file from the recorder to your computer using the following steps.
The screenshots shown are from Sony's "Digital Voice Recorder Software" tool.
Depending on your recorder's make and model, your steps may be different from what's shown below.

CONVERT WAV FILE TO MP3 FILE
The final step will be to convert the resulting WAV file to an MP3 file. To do this you can use any MP3 converter tool.
For this type of straight encoding work, we recommend the dbPowerAmp tool, but you can click here for links to other recommended tools.
We've provided additional step-by-step screenshots on how to convert WAV-to-MP3 using dbPowerAmp.
